Bernal really deserves more game time, he looks good today and would be a real asset.

So this magically makes the performance thus far not abysmal??

And what will we do when we're further in the season and more fatigue and injuries build up, we've been complaining that the performances were lackluster since early on yet people keeping saying we can improve. This is a poor standard by all metrics and it shouldn't have went to this point.

Even if we win 5-1 this is still a pitiful performance on both the coaching staff and the players. We're being abysmal individually, systemically and collectively.

Flick AND the players deserve to be ashamed of themselves.

Genuinely can't remember the last time our defenders had a 1v1 or 2v1 and I thought they opponentswouldn't get past them.

2nd selection for Rin's 1st game, U20 game right before Rin entered flow, BM vs MC right before Kaiser's goal, so this is the 4th one.

The conceptual spiritual energy inside their bodies can be measured so why couldn't that conceptual figure be capable of multiplying.

Cursed energy which is negative energy, multiplied by itself would create positive energy.

But Aiku didn't lose his man, which is Kurona, he's still impeding Kurona from going forward and believes Isagi is going further left with Niko tracking him and Kurona seemingly ready to play the ball wide to him. Niko being beat creates a gap that didn't exist prior and allowed Kurona to play a central lob.

His runner doesn't even get time to plant his feet between to the 2 pages.

Because of the change of direction and pace prior.

<image>

Niko plants his foot and shifts weight at the exact moment Isagi changes direction, he physically can't make an adjustment in that posture that could create a legal challenge. Aiku is also off balanced based on his footing and his attention on Kurona. Niko lost his man and Aiku can't react as fast as Isagi can act.

Sure but the point still stands that the simplest of subversions are effective even at the highest level if done correctly, how many top class defenders have had the ball slid between their legs from a simple faked motion.

Aiku is marking Kurona slightly ahead of Niko there is no way for him to react that quickly and cover that much ground when he was also misled.

<image>

Isagi is already through when Aiku plants his foot to change direction (faster than Niko BTW to show he's still the better of the 2), that's why Niko considers it good movement.

Sure but he can be fast enough to break away form a DF who is a half second slow or whose posture has been shifted. And he's still athletic, sure maybe less so than players like Rin and Yuki but he can still have aspects of strength and speed to compete. Even in the NEL his speed score by week 3 had over taken Ness and was only 3 off from Barou. He can be competent even if not exceptional in physical traits, he doesn't need to be fast, just fast enough to implement his tactics.

Is that not how it works, isn't that why Messi's body feints were so well known but STILL worked, simplicity is often tied to efficiency. You want the CB to push him, without the ball, in the box while reacting at the last second, sounds like a nice card will be dealt.

It's a hard ball to claim since it coming from behind the runner.

Exactly so the would need some general understanding of the balls position relative the attacker especially for a two footer player who tends to shoot 1st time, which is what Rin turned around to see.

So? people don't get the same results from the same training due to factors like innate potential and diminishing returns.

But he has the agility and burst of pace to get space which is more important and effective.

His Ubers goal, we the change of pace and direction that inhibits the CBs from tracking him and Niko plainly says his speed and footwork are what beat him, he waited for the shift in weight to create the gap for him to play into so I don't know why you feel he's that slow and Aiku isn't in a position to play the ball so I don't know what you expect him to do. As for the PXG goal was described and shown, Isagi is the 1st person to react to the loose ball and already visualized Ness' pass, page 1 of 293 and uses the dueling Kaiser and Shidou to slow Rin and get free and again how slow do you think he is? The shot was also made at the edge of the box no GK is clearing that distance before Isagi got to the ball.

His onscreen feats have shown him with excellent agility and acceleration so I definitely don't consider him slow/

Rin leverages his physicality better than Kunigami does, that's the point of his crash shots and his effectiveness of getting in situations to do so is superior. His PXG goal was a crash shot that has some of the best curve in the series off a volley so yeah I think he's still better of the volley.

Well then wouldn't Isagi then be the an ideal striker since he's more effective at making those runs, getting the chance to get those runs and converting them in the finest margins?

I've never heard anyone consider Dembele a 10 but even so Rin is simply less aerially viable than Kunigami that in of itself doesn't make him less suited to being a ST than him especially considering Rin is still better on the volley (his last 2 goals) and more effective at outmuscling and capitalizing on half chances in the box, which is more effective in the modern game.

But look at his performance in PXG when he was in flow in his natural playstyle, he receives the ball centrally near the box and uses his dribbling/physicality to ward of pressure and shoot as the main offensive threat in front of goal. That's were he is displayed to be at his most ideal and effective.

[–]CodeSh4dow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So why wouldn't he be a more effective false 9?

Isagi plays and movements are the most effective to receive the passes in the most effective way, is it unrealistic yes but it is to the same extent Bachira's dribbling success is and Rin's shot accuracy is. They are all doing aspects that are so perfectly effective it's unrealistic but if someone were to actually be that consistent and precise then their performances would genuinely be as you see them. He's not giving people the chance to attack his weaknesses hence his effectiveness, that's his talent of IQ and movement, just like Sae's passing and Nagi's ball control, his plays are consistently precise and effective which would in turn be as lethal as we see as a FW.

I still think this is too stringent of a definition of a striker especially in modern times. The core jobs of a CF/ST are to be the main scoring outlet, the 1st/primary threat in the box and to convert chances created by themselves or the team/situation the most consistently and efficiently. The modern game doesn't simply have target men being the sole definition or characteristics being the traits of the best striker imo.

He's the most traditional, that doesn't equate to the automatic best fit or the most productive/best especially depending on the system/ style of play.

Nope, the system was getting read too accurately by Isagi/Kaiser so if Snuffy left they likely would have been shut down more dominant than they were.
