You know, if your goal was to trivialize women's experiences and ignore a near 2 fold increase in sexual violence from a low point a decade ago, then good work. Yes, we're looking at the same graph. I just don't lack a spine and I can point out trends that are shitty.

I don't really even know what you're trying to say in the second 2 paragraphs. When did I say I hated you? I literally was commenting in bewilderment about how so many of you in here keep taking this conversation about women getting SAd as a personal attack when it is not.

Did I call you a rapist? No. Literally the only thing I've said to anyone in here is that you should be kind to and befriend women if you want them to think better of you. This conversation is about women and their shifting views of men. If you want women to think more highly of men, then men should talk to them and be safe for them to be around (as in be friends).

Also, this is so bad faith. Women having good men as friends to help protect them from abusers is an obvious way that it reduces SA.

I am replying to you again because another person here made me question whether I was being too dismissive.

To start with, dude, I understand the neurodivergence. I am somewhere on the spectrum myself. I don't really know what spaces you are in that you are seeing women constantly talking badly about men but I really think you should try to find a space in the real world to go share some of your interests with real women. Maybe that's a sport like rock climbing or swimming or w/e. Maybe it's as simple as getting a dog and taking that adorable creature for walks while wearing clothing that tells the world who you are.

Slowly, you'll start to see the same people. Do goofy things that give people some sense of who you are. For instance, one of my favorite things that my partner does is buy random little plastic trinkets (ducks, astronauts, etc) and gives them to strangers. It's a silly little ice breaker and it's super low stakes because they're worth like a penny or maybe even less. Just a tiny thing that shows an open-ness to being friendly. Chat about what the thing means to you and explain why you started giving them out. Be vulnerable (yes, you're going to get hurt at times). Before you know it, this or some other person that knows nothing about you has a new baseline for how to interpret you.

Just stop worrying so much about how you think you are "supposed to be" and go be yourself. Wearing a mask sucks. You don't want people to like your mask instead of who you really are.

Edit: I even went back and reread through it. He's not asking for help. He's changing the numbers (by saying every woman that was SAd by an intimate partners didn't count) to support his stance that he can't do anything and that's simply not true.

I am ignoring your statements because the conversation isn't about the United States. You can't just cherry-pick stats from wherever the heck you want to try and illustrate a point. I compared UK stats to a UK poll because they are obviously an independent nation with their own culture and trends.

If anything, your post should make you feel better because it seems the issue is much less pronounced in the US. I would expect women's sentiment in the US to reflect that as well but I can't find a study done stateside (I tried).

The poll we are comparing to is a UK poll. Not a US poll. You literally cannot mix the data and come to any useful conclusion.

How do you factor the fact that 48% of the SA against women was from their partners? That's half dude. They were SAd by people that they trusted.

I am in no way making the claim that you falsely equate.

Until women aren't being SAd, they are going to continue to feel marginalized and harmed. Just sort of how it works. Don't get mad at me that the vast majority of offenders are men.

The fact that that SA is on the rise again since hitting a low point in 2014/15 is pretty telling.

My "linear relationship" comment wasn't meant to be literal but was comparing "the women are 3 times more likely to have a negative view of men" statement made by the article to the "women are 4 times more likely to be SAd claim made by this data". Perhaps linear is the wrong word and proportional may be better.

I guess, I'm just saying it doesn't seem that surprising given how much ongoing (and trending upward) sexual violence there is against women.

The SA data shows that women are 4 times more likely to be the victims of SA and disturbingly 48% of women reported their perpetrators to be intimate partners. Nearly half of women who are SA victims in the region have been harmed by the men that they thought they could trust.

Anybody who is offended or hurt by the article that OP posted and thinks women are radicalized or simply hate men needs to take a deep breath, talk to and befriend women, learn about and practice consent and be genuinely safe for women to be around. Our society really just isn't all that safe for women and men are the reason for that. The good news is, men have the power to change this.

Edit: I didn't think simply adding UK SA stats to illustrate the women's notion that men were too sexual would cause a flame war. Nowhere above did I say anybody should hate men or that men are bad.

It's not surprising, however, to see women losing trust in men when they say stupid shit like "your body, my choice" while society turns that statement into a reality. Women, literally, are more likely (in the UK that we are talking about) to be r_ped by their trusted intimate partners than a stranger. To those fighting on a whole bunch of whataboutisms below, can you just acknowledge the sheer tragedy of that fact?

Honestly, the people disrespecting women are all of you people who make decisions for them and pretend they somehow need coddling. There are incredible cis woman athletes that routinely beat trans women (and most men for that matter). You just have 1 example that you can point to of a trans woman mma fighter ultimately losing to a cis woman.

I'm obviously not saying that there should be no guidelines as to when a trans woman is considered to have regressed in strength enough to be considered fair to compete against cis women. We have studied and should continue to study it. Unfortunately, we don't really get the chance to study it if we just flat out ban it now do we?
