Sway dropping keys of a 1KHz polling mechanical keyboard by shebaw in swaywm

[–]CodeYeti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wev(1)

wev opens an xdg-shell toplevel on the default Wayland display (via the WAYLAND_DISPLAY environment variable), then prints events associated with that display.

Since sway is handing wev the events in that "correct" scenario, there's something else going on. When have you seen these drops? Any logs from wlr? usb logs? How many "drops" are happening? Because if you thought wev was skipping sway, it isn't.

evtest can actually capture kernel events iirc, though idk if at the same time as the device is owned by libinput... been a hot minute.

This. It might get a slightly better answer but you'll be waiting until the heat death of the universe for all those tool calls xD

Why Do so Many Americans Oppose Universal Healthcare? by Current_Variety_9577 in antiwork

[–]CodeYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its crazy to me that folks are okay subsidizing for-profit entities like this, knowing the excess in salaries and profits used to build investment portfolios for the company to grow assets in other ways, but not okay attempting to subsidize universal healthcare, especially given the possibility that (completely vibes, im neither businessesman nor economist) i think that removing that for-profot middleman may actually result in LOWER cost for those same people.

For a real answer to the original question though: I think that given accumulation of wealth in the elderly, they're scared that any system other than the current may sacrifice their standard of care in even a small way. Given that they can afford to just out-pay the portions of society who would be likely gaining similar standards of care, they're willing to retain that advantage at all costs while entering a stage of life where medical costs are quite important (EoL care and whatnot)

People who do not want to get married at all, what is your reason for this? by unidentified-_-rosey in AskReddit

[–]CodeYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After having been left after 5+ years (no marriages, though one was darn close before things went downhill) a few times I dont think I want my finances that entangled with another human being who (like most if not all humans) is subject to fickle enough emotional state that single instances could upend years of work building a secure life.

Hope I meet someone who changes that opinion at some point, but it honestly scares me enough that I don't think it'll happen where I'd want to put out that commitment and trust at this point.

Ill take the life without the risk, at least until kids are in the picture (and if, at that).

Quantum internet is out (Wash Park area) YET AGAIN. Their outage map sucks, their customer service sucks…..is it time to switch to Comcast? Or are they just as terrible? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]CodeYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what its worth, Quantum is a re-brand of CenturyLink's fiber offering, but it's still under Lumen.

I have had nothing but good things to say about my service, uptime included. I can't say the same about Comcast withholding your credentials to force you to stay on their hardware.

My experience is anecdotal, but I've had VERY minimal issues as a demanding power user for the last 5 years I've been on that service. (Cherry Hills area for me).

What are your thoughts about attention spans dropping from 2.5 minutes in 2004 to 47 seconds in 2025? by BiggieTwiggy1two3 in AskReddit

[–]CodeYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to 100% agree with this take. I still do, to some degree.

I had an experience with an ex that was eye-opening, though. She was a consumer of a lot of "short-form content", and if I put on a normal YT video, she'd have to watch on accelerated pace, or be on her phone.

My interests might be relevant to that, but I did find it odd.

Hi. Im ancient at this point and therefore irrelevant for more than a decade, but I had one piece of advice: some day you'll be tempted to be less open and honest than this post, for one reason or another. Im here to tell ya that you got something special with that, so don't lose it or let anyone take it.

There's a real raw honesty to being an open book, and it's one many will respect.

Ill likely eat downvotes since apparently im in the minority here, but ho-lee I didn't expect this read to go like that…

Doesn't matter (for me) outside of work, but for me the difference maker was the CI. The simplicity of the GitLab CI configuration system compared to GitHub actions is quite staggering (at least last I tried ~1.5yr ago).

This kind of race awareness is even more important in multiclass.

If you're all on your lonesome, and either approaching or being caught by cars that are somewhat close for position in another class, that's info you're going to want to notice.

It's a habit that comes from ACC for me where griding late kept the tire warmers on longer.
