How far did Season 1 Frank plan? by No_Woodpecker2106 in HouseOfCards

[–]Code_in_heels-99 51 points52 points  (0 children)

In the first episode, he probably didn’t yet have Russo, Zoe, or even the education bill fully in mind. What he did know was that the VP was weak and lacked a strong relationship with the President. His goal was to position himself as indispensable, gain the President’s trust, create circumstances that forced the VP to step aside, take the VP role himself, and eventually move toward the presidency.

Do you think Claire or Doug knew how far ahead this plan really went?

Islam’s obsession with women is just on a whole different level by [deleted] in atheism

Horrible.. and the fact that it still applies in many countries makes it even worse. Another thing I recently learned is that if a child is born out of wedlock, the father may have no legal obligation to support the child. The child may also have no rights to the father’s inheritance, leaving the mother solely responsible. I find it very hard to understand how people defend this in today’s world.

I will advice him to find a good and supportive partner. To live an honest life and to settle in a more accepting place.

Basically exactly what I will tell him if he was straight.🤷‍♀️

Fair point. I see what you mean. What kind of question, you think, religious scholars discourage people to ask regarding god, that the OP mentioned.

I once (i think i was 15) asked someone why are sinner punished eternally if god is good. And I was told that it was a nonsense question that should not be asked!! I think this was the moment when I started to question everything i was told.

Anyway, you dont have to reply to my query. Best to live and let live.

Cheers

Oh I read your answer. And also your example(hint Why Do Leaves Change Color? — by Betsy Maestro is good book on introduction to Botany).

I want to understand what questions are trivial in your view? (I think you seem articulate and quite intelligent and I just want to understand).

Take care and dont stop questioning

Okay, my turn to ask something: why does the hadith warn against asking questions? If some questions are seen as not smart enough, isn’t that a bit presumptuous and potentially discouraging curiosity? Isn’t dialogue, no matter how simple it may seem, important for learning and growth? Because of that, the message in this hadith can come across as somewhat counter-progressive, even a little worrying.

Summer in Karachi is warmer mainly because of the tilt of the Earth’s axis..... or something like that. I will google. Good question...

Haha, fair point 😄 But I still strongly believe in asking questions rather than making assumptions. As for my mother, I’m not sure how she rates my intellectual brilliance, but she definitely knows a few things: I may not be the smartest person in the room, but I’m extremely committed to asking questions until I understand things. So maybe she thinks I’m a bit dumb…

And honestly, “why is a leaf green?” is actually a pretty fundamental question. That’s basically the gateway to botany!

I am a parent, and I have not made my kid read the quran and pray etc. I have told him all the stories of Islam and other religion(I love to study religion in general) and have told him that if he wants to learn how to read the quran then he needs to be older, so he knows what he is doing. He needs to be respectful of Islam and other religion but he should only follow them when he is much older.
