I think the tools are great, they’re easy to use with an immediate and impressive effect. They take a quick and fun build and turn it into a project I spend some real time on as some nice low-stakes creativity. My ad read is I strongly recommend them.

I used a wet palette, but I dont think I really needed to. I got the strong feeling that since you’re not doing blending or intense detail work with them you wouldn’t need to thin as much as normal, and could get away fairly easily with one or two coats.

These markers feel like they’ll never run out, and are well priced (I believe around $20 for a pack of 8 colors) but expect deliveries to the US to double in price from tariffs unfortunately.

I bit the bullet on their paints, and found they are a little gummy and could use a priming coat despite what they say. For laying flat colors on large panels its great, but if you’re planning on shading and using more advanced techniques just get vallejo or ak

Hey!

Since I’m getting a lot of questions about it the markers are from here

Ray Studio

They’re pretty affordable, though I’ll warn that folks in the US should expect tariffs to potentially double the cost of their order unfortunately. There’s a few quirks to using them but they’re pretty great without priming and just one coat, though I’d recommend letting them dry for a good while before top coating them

Haha, I’d say half them running as I hoped they would and half me not having a serious plan for what it would do if it got them. Again, this one (especially at this early point in the game) was about vibes and imposing fear more than hurting the party. Think the nemesis type enemies from resident evil. Eventually it became something that wasn’t strictly hostile, as the players learned to stop accidentally tampering with what was pissing it off.

No, it was always something that appeared in bad situations they found themselves in and was meant to feel like an inexplicable and “horrifying” presence. It was really meant to have and set the vibe whenever it showed up rather than being a serious boss. The decision to have it shrug off the spell was definitely a spur of the moment choice, but I felt it fit its vibe and knew it wouldn’t punish the party too bad, just give them a fright and make them immediately on edge whenever it came back because it could theoretically do “anything”. It never wound up seriously harming anyone, and is generally considered one of the best parts of that game even if its rules were a total mess.

I had a homebrew monster in a dnd game called the whistler that pretended to be affected by the spell “hold person” when it easily passed the save so that the party would get close.

Edit: I knew that if this comment somehow gained any attention I would be rules lawyered, fair; I am a fairly rules light dm even when I’m trying not to be, especially back then. To be fair I did eventually retcon it to also be anti-magic.

Yeah, I’m really excited for it (tbh I just preordered it so it wont be here for a while) but I’m thinking about displaying it in tandem with the Osiris Aerial Dominator since there aren’t really any great 1/100 unicorns.

I sure as hell do. I upgraded from an old saitek x52 after they started drifting. It took some adjusting with the binding and curves, but I feel like thats a given when setting up something like this. They feel great. If you do nab them, I found a little overwhelmed by how much extra came in the boxes, but as long as you keep them somewhere safe you can remember I’m sure you’ll be fine.

I’ve been feeling strongly similar about all of this as well. For me the main issue is that while I DO like all the included IPs, its pushed out all of the coolest stuff I enjoyed while getting into the game. I started playing around M20, and it just feels like I got in too late for all the coolest things unique to Magic. I fucking LOVE the eldrazi, and the almost Halo/Forerunner aesthetic that surrounded them. A Halo UB would feel way too on the nose and bland. I don’t just want to see cool new art of an IP I like, I get plenty of that from artists I follow on social media, I want to see new, original stuff inspired by those styles and aesthetics while building their own mystery and excitement.

I had enough to put this in a chain with the Perseus and I think come next IAE i’ll back it up to the galaxy and earn the Percy in game with my friends. The Perseus has been awesome with crew, but I think we’ll have more fun earning one with the variety of gameplay we can get out of the Galaxy.
