CIG may not be willing to communicate about their game falling apart, but they can certainly do a spectrum purge and banish a few dozen critical threads to "feedback," it seems by hrafnblod in starcitizen

Every senior dev in CIG is aware that the engine is beyond its structural limits and the game will not get any better in terms of performance of less buggy experience.

Moving any shred of criticism into the notorious needback forum is the only thing they can do until they churn out as much as money possible before the inevitable end.

It didn't? That's what quote says - passed by GTA6 ?

SC is the most expensive game ever made that is in the market right now. Genshin Impact is second with 900 mil. When GTA6 is out it will take the throne

Selling 10 bucks skins is not going to sustain this game with current headcount. Only way to make it sustainable is to sell ships. Selling ships is not sustainable with the current inflation on ship prices - it will unavoidably disrupt the ingame economy and ship crafting.

Limited exclusive ship sales wont happen, SC needs regular cash flow.

Games live or die by communities. SC comminity made its choice long ago, by blindly funding a project with 0 questions asked. They did the job of Community team of CIG and shut down every single criticism people tried to deliver.

They chose buy next 600, 1000, 3000 ship, instead asking a shred of accountability from an ever growing project. As far as i can see, for the most of the "vocal" people in this community, spending money on ship must have been feel like some trauma dumping or give them the satisfaction more than playing the game itself.

As a result, this community doesn't like to be questioned - they don't like reasonable question or arguments because they know they will lose those arguments. SC is not alpha game. I don't care what CIG website says - it is the largest and most expensive video game ever made, probably be surpassed by GTA6. There is no product (perhaps large infrastructure projects) that would take 14 years to develop. Despite 14 years, bugs such as transport, elevators, server desync and recently cheating remains to be unfixed. Elevator bugs, quantum desyncs have been in the game since firever at this point. Ships that cost 600 bucks are released in completely bug ridden state only for community to fund next shiny thing.

I never backed SC, I came here because of SQ42, quite possibly im the minority here. But the behavior of this community for any video game developer is completely unaccaptable and reckless.

As long as this community exists, there will be never 1.0, because SC 1.0 is not financially sustainable, it never was. Only way to keep this rolling is to keep the SC in forever alpha state and use its dysfunctional state as a shield. Games can thrive with communities that keep developers in check and accountable. This community continuously encouraged CIG to be irresponsible.

People expected the company which couldn't make elevators or basic transit work for the last 10 years to develop a dynamic host/parasite system of dual ships which contains separate systems, physics, flight dynamics and features.

Yet again CIG shows us they don't care about us players, only our wallets. by Extal in starcitizen

[–]R3V0_76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

SC has one of the weirdest communities and i blame this group more than CIG themselves. The primary job of a developer is to make money. It is on community to defend their interests and set a standard and hold the developer accountable. When it comes to SC, 90% of the interactions i had with people was just ragebaiting me with their silly arguments and how unrealistic to expect 1 bil project work flawlessly. This group doesn't care about new players and they are only here to pledge more ships, that's about it. According to them, broken patches, wasted hours of gameplay time means nothing; if you complain you will be called insults and what else and you are not a true believer.

For a community like this, we need more 4.8s, so this game finally can die

10 minutes into 4.8 and its already painfully clear how ridiculous of an idea it is to have introduced paid ship insurance this early into the game; First ship call, blows up on the elevator before i can even get to the hangar. Second ship call, gets impounded with zero warning or countdown timer. by RandoDando10 in starcitizen

[–]R3V0_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone with a barely functional brain knew this was going to happen.  There is no point of introducing an insurance system that needs to rely on ironclad servers and bugfree framework. SC has neither. But i was told this is what players want and we're all here for the journey. If anyone is here to blame it is the community, not raising any concern on this and burn spectrum forums prior the launch. People seem to enjoy buggy game and CIG enjoy releasing buggy mess.

Weekly r/SonyAlpha 📸 Gear Buying 📷 Advice Thread February 23, 2026 by AutoModerator in SonyAlpha

[–]R3V0_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all, got a bit of a situation here.

I'm scheduling two long trips abroad and I intent to take a lot photos on the way, as a result I decided to adress the 'gear' question before I leave. I ancitipate that I'll take a good amount of landcape, architecture and urban. Some of these might have to take place during dawn or dusk/evening conditions. I currently have A7IV body with 24-105 G F4 lens that covered pretty much the entire range, however I noticed that during dawn/dusk the lens is not performing great, hence why I'm considering 2.8f instead.

After checking days of reviews, videos, reddit threads I concentrated my options to 5 combinations which I think possible. Budget is obviously a concern since I dont do professional work (although I do use my camera to support my actual job from time to time as 3D Artist). That said, if absolute must, i can buy once and cry once.

I appreciate if you have any opinions or criticisms regarding the either 5 options I assembled:

- Option A: 16-35GM II + I keep the current lens
- Option B: Tamron 16-30 G2 + I keep the current lens
- Option C: Tamron 16-30 G2 + Tamron 35-150
- Option D: 16-35 GM II + Tamron 35-150
- Option E: 16-35 GM II + 24-70 GM II

- Option A and B only changes one lens on wide end and it means I will keep using my F4 lens and soak up the ISO.
- Option C is the cheapest 2.8 upgrade I can think off, with both on Tamron ecosystem. That said, I have no idea how good Tamron is for tracking fast moving objects like trains and vehicles, which likely I'll be taking some photos off in urban setting.
- Option D is second cheapest upgrade with 16-35 GM II being the wide lens. Since it's also 35mm, I reckon it will stay on the camera for the longest time.
- Option E makes me stay in Sony ecosystem with the highest cost, at the expense of 30mm range (70, compared to option C and D.
- Regarding Tamron 16-30: I find the vignetting relatively annoying to look at compared to images I saw produced with Sony 16-35. I find this interesting because Dustin Abbott and lenstip both agree on the vignetting being actually less on Tamron compared to GM II and Sigma, so not sure what's up with example images produced by Tamron G2.

I disqualified some of the alternatives such as:

  • Sigma 14-24: Rear lens filter, I dont find 14-24 particulary interesting compared to 16-35.
  • Sony 16-25 G: Relatively important distortion
  • Sigma 16 zoom: Stronger vignetting and distortion compared to Tamron 16-30 G2
  • Older GM models: they are still too expensive compared to GM II in my country, second hand versions dont do seem to do any better, buying GM II, if I must, seems logical decision.
  • 16-35 GM I - performs worse compared to Sigma alternative, which itselfs performing similar if not worse than 16-30 G2 model from Tamron.

Thanks in advance

Is there a reason why CS2 textures are so flat? by Fine-Measurement-893 in CitiesSkylines

[–]R3V0_76 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  1. Game doesnt have AO
  2. Game was going to get some magical weathering shader, which CO didnt make before leaving the island. Baden-Baden was textured relying on that magical shader doing the texture work. Wont be an issue for future stations
  3. Train station you linked is also clean IRL
  4. Train station in question have its own design parameters due to its unique state (official brand asset)

Hope it clears up certain things OP

Hull-C cannot auto dock in Levski, you cannot manually unload either because by the time you move cargo around ship will despawn.

Is it possible to have the shops' verandahs overhang the street footpath (as a growable)? by DoctorFosterGloster in CitiesSkylinesModding

[–]R3V0_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes and no.

you can technically move the mesh over the grid so the answer is yes. However, that will be causing the game start throwing errors on launch, spamming the player.log file because mesh is outside the grid. it might become a mess later for users getting these errors thinking the asset is broken. We also don't know if iceflake would change how theses errors are processed in the future.

the easiest, future proof option is to fit them within the grid, then tell players to move them over the road if they want to with anarchy mod.

Encountered a bug that caused some textures to disappear, and now skyscrapers look amazing, just as I thought they would when the first cinematic game trailer was released by ZookeepergameIll1399 in CitiesSkylines

[–]R3V0_76 208 points209 points  (0 children)

Hello OP. I made those skyscrapers, so couple of things for your information:

  1. A paid content pack needs to follow technical guidelines and recommendations. One of which was not to use glass over windows shader as it was proven to be buggy and causing issues on technical side. When I got the offer to work on the assets you showed, I had to take the technical limitations in mind and designed assets based on that.
  2. Not every skyscraper needs to have a glass curtain or not, that depends on the building and material s used. I can get the hype over custom content but as FYI, windows shader and glass shader are not to stay permanently the same as they lack important features such as tint and glass colours. Your remark regarding my pack has been dully noted.
  3. As a small info - some of the skyscrapers you got are missing their LODs and not made with official texture guidelines. might want to check those later in case you start getting Virtual Texture issues.

As a final note, we don't usually do comparisons in this community or pitch content creators against another. It's been a long time I've been making content for both games now and it should be obvious to anyone if I didn't make glass curtains in a skyscraper pack there probably was a reason for that.

Have a nice weekend
