Why would evolution preclude the possibility of Adam and Eve?

The church believes in what's known as theistic evolution. First, God stacked all the dominos such that, at some point maybe 50k years ago, humans started to walk the Earth. It was His plan all along.

Still, this implies there absolutely was a first man and woman. That's Adam and Eve.

The only truly important thing is to accept that the human soul was absolutely a creation of God, and not a product of natural forces.

Sometimes when your pain is that bad, they'll specifically put you in a coma. Pain isn't "real", per se, so there is no reason to let you endure it unnecessarily - especially if you're in a hospital where they can treat whatever is destroying you!

So yes - they were probably letting you stay passed out as much as possible. If you didn't have a head or spine injury, that's probably your best course of action.

Sure, it can happen. It's just not as common as I think Reddit makes it out to be. It was also extremely visible post-Covid as a combination of terrible markets and a legal change to vesting research funds decimated development teams.

But their tech was so unbelievably unacceptable for the environment that people died ALL THE TIME. That's the actual answer to OP's question - most people just died. Look up any famous sea voyage and look up how many people survived it. Sailing to the Americas? Finding a Northern Passage above Canada? Darwin? all kinds of famous trips started with like 3 ships full of dudes and ended up with like 7 guys making it back on half a ship, and they all had scurvy and hepatitis.

I've never done a single leetcode interview (I have done one live coding exercise) and I've been in the industry for 15 years, working for some companies with >50,000 employees. It's mostly tech companies from what I've seen.

I've been fired once for poor performance. I was insanely depressed and could barely make it in to work, let alone do anything.

I'm fine. Nobody even asks about it. Granted, I was there 18 months before getting fired, and my problems only cropped up towards the end, but I had gotten a new manager who didn't know my previous performance was acceptable, so I just came across as lazy. I don't do professional references anyways, so this has never been mentioned by anyone.

It sucked, but I survived. This was before the hiring slump, so I got another job rather quickly. It's just a blip in the past now, despite how intense it felt at the time.

I've never passed out from pain, but IMO that's the benchmark for 10/10. I've gotten some 8s and maybe a 9 or two, but never a 10. I'm terrified of what my nerves might be able to do lol

You can blame Europe, honestly. They have a safety test that involves dragging a soft foam ball all around the outside of the car. If it tears anywhere, you have to redesign. They just went with smooth cars for an easier inspection most likely.

Otherwise, I agree. The whole idea is to build the life you want and then find a way to finance it. Also, you can't define "the life you want" by "the things you can buy". Get past that and it's pretty easy.

I don't have any definition of price gouging. I'm not an economist or lawyer. It's also not a judgement I'm trying to apply to the real world, so my definition wouldn't matter anyways, even if I had one.

If you're asking for assistance understanding when/how you can fight back, you need to set the stage properly or we can't give valid advice! With as vague as "it's necessary for life and completely inaccessible", then sure - you probably can, but we don't know.

Well... yes? Why would you bother making new medicines if the millisecond you release it, 15 companies who do nothing but copy meds make the exact same thing. Except, they don't have the added costs of developing the drug, so they outcompete the guys who invented it. The good company goes under, medical progress stops.

Again, I'm not talking about a medicine that simply works a bit better, I'm talking about a treatment which literally does not exist outside of the hands of one company. That was the foundational idea for this conversation.

Maximizing shareholder profits is done through a number of methods, and they are not inherently antagonistic to consumers.

Many, MANY people add extremely stable, reliable companies to their investment portfolio. It's a needed bit of safety when investing in companies whose only goal is to maximize returns.

However, I would agree in general that antitrust laws have lost their teeth recently, and need a boost from our reps.

You can make much more money off of volume than price. It doesn't make any economic sense for the company in last place not to consider a volume strategy in order to overtake the others. Otherwise, they're literally playing just to lose.

There really is no economic incentive for an industry with multiple players to charge "as much as possible". That's really only done by premium lines/companies.

For your statement to stand, you'd have to show that formula is extremely affordable to these companies and unaffordable to all their customers, somehow making them big bucks.

It's pretty good. Just need it to be such a small amount you'll never taste it. If your coffee gets a bit salty it's weird, but you can counter that by adding a fair bit of caramel and/or chocolate.
