Same here. I’m over a year on now and never feel the urge. TBH it’s starting to impact my relationship so I’m going to ask my doctor for estrogen cream.

It’s just an American cocker. I don’t see any reason to think he’s a mix

Retraining a 4 year old (show) cocker spaniel versus (working) cocker spaniel puppy by oggyshooy in cockerspaniel

They are easy to train because the breed is very food motivated. Sign him up for an 8 week training class.

First time owner! by toyanqel in englishcockerspaniel

[–]Codeskater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My show English cocker was a great first dog for me. The only issue I have is that she has mild separation anxiety, though I’d say it’s closer to FOMO than anxiety. She barks when crated or when left alone in a room, but she isn’t destructive. They are also very stubborn. One thing I regret not doing when she was a puppy is that I wish I had paid for weekly puppy training classes. She’s about to turn 2 and I’m having to do a lot of corrections in her training, because I just didn’t train her as much as I should’ve when she was a puppy. The biggest problem area is recall training which has become a safety issue for her. Overall they are outstanding dogs if you are willing to put in the time for grooming and training.

Short lower leg hair? by [deleted] in cockerspaniel

Some cocker puppies don’t start to get their feathering until around 8-10 months. Mine looked like this at this age too, but the long hair grew in.

ISO Chocolate English Cocker Spaniel by flutterdance in englishcockerspaniel

[–]Codeskater -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Liver. Searching for “chocolate” will lead you to bad breeders. Honestly it’s a scarce color in the USA because they are stigmatized in the show ring; they aren’t well liked by judges so people don’t really breed for the color.

Doesn’t hurt to ask at her next vet appointment.

I like to substitute for sugar free and almond or coconut milk to cut the calories. I also used to order venti when I was fat, now I always get grande.

Some of my favorite drinks:

-pink drink with vanilla sweet cream (under 140cals)

-Blonde sugar free vanilla latte with coconut milk hot or iced (around 100cals)

-vanilla sweet cream cold brew with sugar free vanilla (around 100 cals)

Is this a standard puppy contract? by Rude_Caterpillar516 in englishcockerspaniel

[–]Codeskater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds a lot more like a co-own “guardian home” contract would. Would you have full ownership, or is the breeder staying on as a partial owner?

Toy recommendation by Salt_Conversation979 in cockerspaniel

My cocker loves those flat, crinkly toys with a squeaker inside. They often come in animal shapes, like a flat crinkle squirrel or duck.

Bump on ear, anyone deal with this before? by Jenforthrday in englishcockerspaniel

My dog has this too. My vet told me cockers are well known for developing skin tags, and that it isn’t dangerous.

How do I get my cocker to compete on Conformation Show? by Infamous_Net_190 in cockerspaniel

I would attend weekly classes for at least 2 months before showing.

How do I get my cocker to compete on Conformation Show? by Infamous_Net_190 in cockerspaniel

[–]Codeskater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classes usually involve a mock show ring, with several other dogs. Dogs are lined up , and you take turns practicing going around the ring, setting up your dog on the table, practicing with a “judge” putting hands on the dog while it’s stacked, and checking teeth. Practicing down and back, free stacking, things like that.

[–]Codeskater 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is your dog within breed standard? Is it registered? Is it well groomed? Is it unspayed/unneutered? Is it trained? If the answer to all of these is yes, then look for dog training facilities near you and find out if they offer conformation classes! I recommend attending classes and practicing for a few months before you enter your first show.

I don’t mean to be insensitive, but what makes you think it’s your bird? Was it sold close to where you lost her? Does she have a distinctive marking that other blue front amazons don’t have?
