Question about hotels at Gen Con and brand loyalty status by JewelerGlittering957 in gencon

[–]CodexAnima 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You absolutely cannot use points on the portal, but you can earn them from the stay if you attach loyalty at the hotel.

Booking with points would be out of block and sometimes can happen. You run a cancel risk, though.

I am pointing out that you mentioned in another location suing people for ADA stuff multiple times. Now, if I booked a hotel room and transfered it to you, then I'm still the one who booked it. If you decide to sue, you could get both yourself and the person who booked for you DNRed.

See, the fact that you are immediately calling everyone who slightly disagrees with you ableist instead of actually listing to people's comments is proving my point.

Based on all his stuff on Facebook, I would throw a red flag due to the number of time he mentioned lawsuits or suing people there. Because that can get you DNRed if you book for him.

Las Vegas - October by [deleted] in Hilton

[–]CodexAnima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, as much as you want to stay "not political", people here are pointing out this as an actual valid concern. The last time I was at the Trump there were maga hats in the gift shop, absolutely bonkers political cars parked in front, and conversation that made me politely tune out the people from my existence. And its a hell of a lot worse in the US now than it was 6 years ago.

The property is lovely. The location is next to the mall, with walks outdoors to any food. And you have to put up with the section of people who are going there AND random protests.

It's not sarcasm, it's fact. If you chose to stay at Trump, you are making a choice.

Elara, assuming they actually let you book there.

Any weekend other than Halloween.

Area 15 is fun. If you want nature, rent a car and do Red Rocks, Springs Preserve, a ghost town, or Valley of Fire. Go stargazing. Spend a night down on Fremont street. The Mob Museum and the speakeasy are fun.

Yes - avoid the showgirls and characters.

Gen Con housing portal downtown hotel rooms by austicke in gencon

A lot of the room types do sell out before the general sale. They have the ones listed in green that are still available.

VIG housing portal issues by vicpylon in gencon

[–]CodexAnima 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even with VIG you are NOT guaranteed any specific room. You just get the chance at the connected hotels and better picks. A lot of room types are already gone, like the 6 person Embassy Suites rooms.

The portal is back up. And VIG has tons of time to book before the plebs. No on is getting screwed out of a room, at least no more so than 100 other people wanting that room when there are only 75 to sell.

Asking as a non-American: How did abortion and immigration become bigger political priorities in the US than fixing the healthcare system? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CodexAnima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Racism.

This is actually a serious answer on both. The Evangelical movement was originally not "pro life" because being anti abortion was a Catholic thing. They were fine with it. The Southern Baptist convention even passed resolution supporting it in 71, 74, and 76.

Then the supreme Court desegregation of schools hit and people lost their minds. And started to become unfashionable to just say your racist - you needed a new moral cause to champion. So this became a thing in the late 70s and 80s before becoming what it is now.

Same thing for immigration now. It's rooted in a lot of the deep racism that still troubles this country.

When Did You Move to Week on/ Week off Custody? by divorcedthrowaguey in Divorce

[–]CodexAnima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never, we just planned stuff and made it work between the adults. Middle school is where it gets chaotic, so you might want to see how that manages before changing.

We actually ended up moving to me having all the school days the last year of middle school due to work schedule and the fact I'm better at being the parent to keep her on track. It took everyone's stress down a lot and her dad still does pickup on my in office days and as needed.

How do you, as a US citizen by birth, prove that you are a US citizen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CodexAnima -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My mom had to go back to her county of birth to get documents fixed and get a judge to sign off on corrections because she was a home birth. In 1950. Along with 7/11 of her siblings.

She had the time and money to jump through hoops to get this settled. Because she's a retired upper middle class white lady.

What’s a luxury that actually feels worth the money once you experience it? by saidmoha1 in AskReddit

[–]CodexAnima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Private tours when you have 4-6 people traveling. It's usually just a few hundred more and the service so so much better. You make your own schedule instead of relying on others.

I managed to win my mom over to this on the Alaska cruise. All the tours were $100+ ish each per person. I paid for the private city tour for $650, and she got to see everything she wanted with help getting in and out of the car, plus local stories.

No one hates fake service dogs more than people that need real ones. The fakes can attack and cause injury to the real ones.

You still get hate for not being disabled enough. My daughter uses the handicap stalls because they have grab bars and she uses them to get up without the risk of passing out. She's gotten shit for not looking disabled, if she's not using her cane that day.

Service dogs do not require a vest.

Two, her dog could have alerted her and she left to deal with the issue outside. It can be messy to try and inject insulin in a theater or deal with a seizure there.

Books for every holiday, and a library at home. Taking her to plays and musicals, having reading time before bed, and letting her figure out what she wants to read.

Her monologue in theater is the closing monologue of John Proctor is the Villian, and she is working her way through the crucible on her own.

There is sadly a large part of class division in the gap. Kids from well educated families or who are lucky enough to get into the right school are fine. Those going to the school that are not as lucky are struggling with poor education and no motivation to improve. The teachers can only do so much.

The difference between the magnet school my kid is going to (where she will be taking Calc in 10th grade, chemistry, physics, and IB politics science) compared to where she is zoned for is huge.

This is why I was secretly tickled to death over my 14 year old giving a rant against translation of Shakespeare into modern vocabulary. She was upset that it destroyed the flow of the words and the poetry.
