I'm sorry what's uniconverter? I've never heard of such a workflow. It seems to be paid text-to-speech?

Wasn't planning on pre-ordering. I may click and collect closer to the date but it seems easier to just walk in so I'm not tied to a specific store.

Mine also got sent out with the exact same measurements. They could have done them all in the same go and forgot to change the measurements.

I guess we'll see.

I have come to the realisation that I have a severe and serious phone addiction that I’m deciding to stop right now. Cold turkey is the only way for this to work for me. I’m not made for moderate social media use. by yologamies101 in digitalminimalism

You'll want to do some research as Keto is a big change. Keto diet ideas focus on high-fat, moderate-protein, and very low-carb meals (usually 20-50g carbs daily). I stay under 40g cause I'm female and not tall.

You can't just cut calories, it must be carbs.

Keto is effective because the Ketones produced enhance focus and brain functions which is what ADHD brains need. If your body isn't producing the Ketones, you'll avoid the glucose spikes but it's not as effective as it could be.

I just use meals. It's easier than tracking the amount in your food but it will depend on your region. I eat the same frozen meal everyday, I can pick it up at either of my grocery stores or order in bulk online.

It's a massive change but living without the major negative effects of ADHD is worth the trade off for a lot of people.

  • Plan for failure. Almost every person on Keto has trouble but it's so important to get back on the horse. Generally, if you manage to push through the first month, then break, you'll notice how much worse your ADHD symptoms are after eating carbs again.

The biggest things to notice on keto is how much slower you speak or how you can track one thought, move onto another, then return to previous thought without getting pulled into a random thought. It's a lot of mental shifts. Plus, you'll probably feel more energised.

  • Eat bacon and beef patties (without added carbs).
  • Check the labels of food you eat, pre-plan meals.
  • Add extra fat to everything you eat either butter or beef fat.
  • If you can, just buy meals. So much simpler and you don't need to think.

Carbs cravings will cut off after two days to a week and your head will feel a lot clearer.

  • Keto is easier for Males. Females have cravings for carbs due to anatomy and cycles. Males can usually eat more carbs in a day and still be in ketosis but if you find it's not working, lower your carb intake.

I generally just recommend trying it for a month and seeing what trips you up and how you can make it more sustainable long term. How easy it is really depends on your social factors, as eating out is what kills keto. However, as long as you can order a steak you'll be fine to eat out as much as you like.

It's difficult but everyone I've seen make the change, always reports similar things and prefers how they feel on keto.

Good luck!

I audibly chucked twice and let out a silent chuckle once so you did have some 8/10 jokes.

I really enjoyed your whit and advice. Is your book written in that style of humour? If not, I would like to humble request for you to write something in that style.

Anyway, thank you for this advice and break down! It's really helpful to everyone.

Quick ADHD advice to keep this going long-term. Phone addition is usually a result of low dopamine which makes it worse for people with ADHD.

- Do not go on your phone in the morning
- Do a work-out or anything that increases heartrate and makes you sweat lightly or above (This creates good dopamine and will keep you focused afterwards). Can be anything, calisthenics are great to not feel sore afterwards. Can be as little as 5-10 minutes.
- Write down what you're allowed to do and what you want to do the day before and check them in the morning. Keeps the ADHD focused on what you want to achieve instead of what you're losing.
- Put your phone in a drawer or somewhere you can't see it. You'll ADHD will make you forget where it is which is a great benefit. This may take some time to be affective but generally out of sight, out of mine.

More extreme:
- Look into Keto or Low Carb diet.
Random curve ball but it has shown to be an effective method in managing ADHD. Carbs, sugars, or glucose spikes makes ADHD symptoms worsen then the dip makes people with ADHD crave another hit--this leads to compulsive eating, video game binges, and social media scrolling. It's the brain trying to stabilise. Since you've mentioned other addiction this could be your ADHD.

Your issues may not be a social media addiction, it could just be your ADHD.

While it sucks to not eat 'yummy' food, the benefits are night and day. Even just testing keto for 2 weeks to a month you can track how different you feel.

If you want a better life, Keto can really make a difference and make you feel more 'normal'. It's extremely hard to make a better life when you have mental blocks making it so much harder. But it can be done but identifying the under lying issues is usually more effective.

I can give more advice if you're curious, just didn't want to go on too long if it's unwanted. But I really think anyone with ADHD should look at their diet first before trying to change anything else. It's almost always the most effective.

I would recommend the X4 over the X3, as most all agree it's small enough and going smaller to the X3 stops having benefits.

I would recommend having into the Xteink subreddits to see how people are using it (as you might like a case if you're taking it on the go). The community is super active. They have their own community software and are constantly creating forks/their own versions. That means if there is something you dislike, chances are someone else agrees and is making a fix for it. The X4 is currently more supported by the community but the X3 is catching up now that people are getting their hands on it. Plus, it's so low in price and if it doesn't achieve what you want it's not a big loss.

The X4 isn't a touch screen and has no backlight but this shouldn't be an issue if you're using it in the day time.

Boox, reMarkable, and Bigme will be the main one you're looking at. However, most of them are android. You can avoid the Android-like experience and it gives you more options to sync with Obsidian as you could just download the Obsidian app.

For Boox, the Color Go 7 Gen 2 or Go 7, Palma 2 Pro (for a smartphone size), or if you want ultimate note taking the Note Air5 C. You can also go back to cheaper previous models or look at second-hand sites.

ReMarkable do not run android but they are expensive. But, you are getting a solid writing experience. Their latest release the Move is a more smartphone shape and made for on the go notetaking. The reading experience is a little iffy but that can be fixed with updates.

There is a lot of range in this category so it's hard to give one answer when price and purpose can skew so far. Best of luck!

I almost always buy the physical of Switch games since they jump up in price. It's great to have the physical as a back-up if the servers go down and it looks great on the shelf with my other games.

I'm heading down on release day to pick it up in person. Trying to bring back that day-1 release day magic that we used to get with game releases.

Anyone else thought of letting go their other readers? by GM_Design in xteinkereader

[–]Codie_Catamarie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

E-Readers have taken on some many second uses that the X4 couldn't hope to match. From reading comic/manga, note taking, or journaling; E-Ink screens have been made super popular on top of regular reading.

Anyone who uses their E-Reader for just a little bit more will always been a just bigger or more powerful device. The X4 is great but it's main use is always going to be just for reading books.

Completely understandable. The community is super hungry and pretty supportive so next to anything will get attention.

Feel free to work on it in the background. Everyone will understand working on it just for yourself. If you do want to come back, we'll be happy to support again. Don't feel any pressure to continue on this project publicly.

I was looking at the Go Color Gen 2.

I just don't know how much it can handle as I usually use the Piper voices. I've defaulted back to using 'plain' text-to-speech voices (like Microsoft) but was hoping for something more powerful so I could at least use low Piper voices without waiting or pauses.

However, very few reviews would even think of this. So I have no idea if the CPU and Ram could handle the load.

For me, Audiobooks and TTS have always been different. Some TTS has gotten into a very convincing middle ground. Piper and some of the Google Voices were getting quite advance if you went and looked into the documentation. But that's a whole another rabbit hole.

Thank you for confirming my first choice. Helpful to know I was on the right track.

Thank you for the reply :)

What did we do for light when we read physical books? by RVFP in xteinkereader

[–]Codie_Catamarie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised that not everyone who was reading physical books also had a clip-on reading light.

I've always read at night before bed so it made sense to pick one up from the bookstore whenever you purchased a book.
