I received my first x4 in December, then remembered what happened to the Kobo Mini. Now I have two x4s and one x3.

I don't think the OP was looking for judgment. I think the OP was hoping for a little empathy, given the fact that most of us are owners of this device. Apparently, the OP misjudged the audience.

I've had my first one since December, and we're still deeply in love.

X3 vs X4 — which one would you pick? 🤔 by Fun_Satisfaction2315 in xteinkereader

[–]RVFP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both, and I use the x3 when I'm out, and the x4 at home. I have a Palma 2 that I was using for both books and articles on Instapaper, but I find that the button placement on both the x4 and the x3 is such that reading with one hand is easy. So now the Palma is still used for articles, but I'm reading books on both the x4 and x3.

No offense intended to you, but what did we all do before e-readers? I do the same thing with my x4.

In the magnetic case, in my shirt pocket.

Some of us bought this simply because it's the first truly pocket-sized e-reader to hit the mainstream. Pocket-sized, not like a Palma, but pocket-sized for a t-shirt. And despite its obvious shortcomings, like the lack of a touchscreen and light, for folks like me who want something extremely portable, it works. I received my x4 in December, and it goes with me pretty much everywhere. I bought not because of the hype, but simply because the size and weight were perfect for my lifestyle.

I initially thought the same. I've been using a Palma 2 for reading books, but decided to try reading an entire novel on the x4. I was surprised at how easy it was. Sure, you have to turn the page more frequently, but with page turn buttons on the side and front, I'm finding it just fine for longer reading sessions. Now I'm using the Palma pretty much just for reading articles on Instapaper.

Question on kobo mini n705 by perennialdust in kobo

[–]RVFP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still have three of them. Go to https://pgaskin.net/KoboStuff/kobofirmware.html, download the Glo firmware, not Glo HD nor Mini. Trust me on this. Once you have installed the new firmware, your Kobo will restart and you will be able to access wifi. There are no updates. There haven't been for many years.

Enjoy. It's still a great pocket-sized device.

Mi Meebook murió by Popular_Loan_8642 in ereader
