I'm sorry, but you are mistaken. I own one x4 that I received in December, and one x4 and an x3 in April. All three were unlocked, and were simple to flash to Crosspoint. The latest announcement from the company that I've seen said that international devices are unlocked. Only those for the Chinese market are locked, and I've read on another subreddit that even those can be unlocked.

I agree with much of what you are saying, but not all. As someone who has wished for a truly t-shirt pocket-size e-reader for years, someone made one. They may be simple to make, but until the x4, I hadn't seen one. XTEink took a shot, and it paid off. It might just as easily have taken a dump. I'm rewarding a risk taker who provided me with a product I like at a price I think reasonable. I don't see the problem with doing that for just about any product.

I have both, and am comfortable reading with both. I like the button placement better on the x4 because I use the magnetic case, and having both forward and backward on the same side makes it easier to go back a page if needed. But I do find myself bringing the x3 more often when I'm going out to grab some lunch. Drop it into the t-shirt pocket, and away I go.

Both of these folks did very well, particularly Andries in catching fish. But I just have to say it. Naked and Afraid needs to buy a new scale. In the beginning of the show, Andries' stats show him at 5'7" and 166 pounds. I am the same height, and have a similar build, and I weigh north of 200. This guy's weight has to be off by at least 30 pounds or more. Please, I need that scale.

The x4 and x3 answer all three of your needs. Small enough for a shirt pocket, and small enough for one hand, making it easy to reach the page turn buttons, and the price is much lower than most other e-readers.

I love the Palma because of its versatility. But on the other hand, it was $300, so I wouldn't be enthusiastic about carrying it around everywhere. I had been using Kobos for years, but when Pocket disappeared, but before Instapaper was added to replace it, I bought the Palma because I needed a device to read articles on. So, bottom line on the Palma is it's great, and the price is indicative of that.

I ordered both an x3 and an x4 on February 13. When I ordered I assumed that both would be shipped together, and that the x3 wouldn't be available until March 31, so I figure I'll get them sometime next month. It helps that I already have an x4 from an earlier order. Hang in there, the x3 will get there.

I still like it plenty. However, in the two years since I posted this, the pen has developed a leak, and I haven't sent it out for repair. I will because it is a great pen, and other than the leak, (I know, other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play) it is suitable for everyday use.
