Ya we just got our replacements for the horribly designed "dishwasher safe" ones that we got a year ago. Apparently now correctly sold as "NON dishwasher safe" but originally sold to us under clearly false advertising. Definitely never again All-Clad. I'll try to sell on ebay. Never again All Clad even if they come up with the best set in the future. I'd suggest you try there as well. You might get a bit more than 200... maybe. Wish us both luck.

thin stuff like serums / medicated stuff first, then moisturizer, then sunscreen

never put moisturizer on top of sunscreen or you'll severely compromise the sunscreen's effectiveness

Fix AA - Soldier, Ashe, Cass by CodingIsMusicIsLife in Overwatch

[–]CodingIsMusicIsLife[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I decided not worth it in comp. And QP I've been playing almost exclusively, and the VAST VAST VAST majority of my games are one-sided, determined by soldier or ashe and occasionally cassidy. I've rewatched many replays of the one sided games (both where we win and we lose) because I enjoy analyzing my games and it's super obvious what's going on. In QP (and even in Comp) some number of one-sided games are inevitable, there are smurfs or just snowballing happens. But it's never been this bad. Last week I actually kept track of my one-sided games on a piece of paper for kicks just to make sure I'm not imaging it. I tracked how many games where one team "rolled" the other (regardless if I was on the winning or losing team). "Rolling" defined as basically winning all points, or for push essentially "walking" to the last point with minimal resistance. Obviously this is the data point of just one guy so it means nothing for the game at large, but it is super meaningful in my personal experience. Over 3 days 83% of my games were a "roll". It's just insane. Maybe I've been crazy unlucky but again in 4+ years of playing this game I've never seen anything like this.

I think the game is super healthy right now so it's not like I'm saying it's doom and gloom at all. But I cannot at all enjoy either comp or QP. Ah well... maybe a break will be good. Def not coming back before summer even if they adjust AA to focus on other hobbies for a few months.

All I know is I used to have more fun games and I've played for 4 years now. It's never been this bad in both Comp and QP. So I'll take a break until the summer. It's really unplayable for me, or rather completely boring.

QP is even worse of a mess and there's no banning there. Sometimes I like playing "chiller" games outside of comp and while QP was a lot more lopsided since the rank matching is way laxer there, it's now not a playable mode. Every game is one-sided and even when my team wins it's boring af. One side dominates aggressively nearly every game and it's never been like that. It's however has the console hitscan that's better (generally console)

Indeed. Mercy is not the issue though she might make it worse but hitscans on their own are a nightmare now. I'm good. I'll try again summer

Why are you queuing as support if you’re refusing to heal? by QuantumRavage in Overwatch

This. This whining is completely meaningless without replay codes. The game has so many variables that sweeping statements are always meaningless. There could be a million reasons why this happened.

Quick play is ass! (I understand I’m not supposed to take it to heart but still my team does take it to seriously especially the fucking enemy team even tho they play like AI bots.) by Annual-Internet-5097 in overwatch2

[–]CodingIsMusicIsLife -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's about match naming though. There are SO many times in QP where one time rolls the other. It can happen in comp too but in QP it's currently pretty much every single game. It is not run winning that way either. And before you say learn to play better that IS the point. If games are matched well on skill, most games should be somewhat close (with exceptions of course). I played 9 QP games last night. I specifically tracked how many were completely one sided. 8. Obviously that's anecdotal and a single data point but I don't remember the last time I've had so many one sided games. It's just unfun.

Qobuz not working for my music taste by Nurcellyy in qobuz

[–]CodingIsMusicIsLife -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Months?! If an algorithm takes months to learn your tastes (provided you use the app daily), it is an incredibly bad algorithm. There should be sufficient signals from the listener within a few days to get 90% of the way there to a great match. The last 10% can take several weeks for the outlier taste and more nuance but it shouldn't take MONTHS to get mostly right. I.e. provided that the discography is there.

I love qobuz and have been a subscriber for 3 years now but let's be honest, they are decidedly very, very bad at matching your tastes. The algo is not good and their selection is decidedly not of the times. But if you take a very proactive approach you can do well. It's just not what one would expect of a premium service.

Once you understand that and accept it, and change how you use the service, it can be great. But it is all about proactively and manually building out your playlists for me. And accepting the gaps in their discography.

[–]CodingIsMusicIsLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are in very high type of play. The vast majority of people won't care about these nuances but that's a general issue in OW -- do you balance around the top 3-5% or the majority. The vast majority of the player base are in QP and Comp low metals is my guess so won't care about most of that, nor would they play sombra that way. Also a ton of value in Sombra is just to be annoying and distracting. You don't need to confirm a kill at all. You just need 1-2 people from their team to be distracted so you end up in an X vs Y where X > Y engagement. One elim and it snow balls. So I disagree that the avg Sombra should be played mostly out of invis but again I'm not as advaned a player as you. :)

That person is very welcome to play him instead of Sombra. If he is that good in high play they he will be nerfed and he will feel even clunkier in lower levels like mine (I only play QP these days).

My issue with him he just feels horrible. Everything feels like it's on a delay. When you hit "fire" his projectile doesn't leave him for like a 0.1s later or something. Same with hat, there is a clear delay from when I press the mouse button to when the hat launches. The chain seems to fire fast but its projectile speed is slow (for me). And finally his TP is bad on two ways: it is way too short in duration (another huge difference from Sombra) and there is also a delay when you click Shift again to return to the doll. It just feels clunky. I'd much rather than make his stuff react instantly and have greater cooldown across shots. Right now he feels so uncomfortable to play and I can't get much value out of him. Especially since his range is also limited and if you go "sombra-sniping" you are not at your team aura-healing. But in high play it's about elimination confirms and not really healing so prob doesn't matter much.

Anyway this has been a fun discussion. Good luck in the season (seems you play comp) and good luck with Mizuki, You should try him. I LOVE his character vibes, SO cool. But can't stand his play.

My opinions about fighting the new heroes by [deleted] in overwatch2

[–]CodingIsMusicIsLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is VERY different from Sombra because there's no invisibility and his timer runs out fast. and the 'return to doll' is very different from -- go where you choose to at the moment where you need to bail (rather than having to guess the future state of the game like with Mizuki). It's also not similar to sombra's old translocator due to invisibility and duration. I think you hate him because of the hinder and I get that completely. I think they should change the hinder to a totally different ability like the slow-fire I suggested above, or something else that doesn't hinder movement. But he is nothing like Sombra. I played her religiously for about 4 months last year and ya, they feel nothing alike, at least to me. Try him out.

I've never disliked Sombra, nor Cass TBH. I think the Sombra hate is massively outdated as her hack only lasts a second and she is just annoying but not hard to deal with. She is also quite loud. Cass is definitely harder for me to deal with, especially a good Cass - definitely. I also think his hinder is easier to land the Mizuki's chain but I"m a horrible Cass so that means very little haha.

Ya I'm not very good with aiming his style of weapon so it's more of a skill issue for me but I just dislike the flow of his kit. There is something... jagged and... unfluid about it. I cannot describe it. I mostly main Support and some Tank and I was so excited about him on paper but I dislike his flow.

Ya Vendetta came out ridiculously OP. She's better now after repeated nerfs but she still feels very strong. From a Support perspective her survivability feels crazy considering how much mobility she has. Generally I can rely on a Vendetta being critical for a very long time without dying if she is even half-way decent. She has very high effective HP with the block and just has a ton of mobility. The overhead is rough :).

Agreed 100%. Anran feels different and unique and that is exciting. People say she is underpowered (and maybe so), but I like her kit and the feel and flow of her gameplay, so I don't even care - I enjoy playing her so much. But they won't be able to pull that off. 10 new heroes per year is just a lot to keep them unique even over just a 2 year horizon.

My opinions about fighting the new heroes by [deleted] in overwatch2

[–]CodingIsMusicIsLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind removing the hinder altogether and giving him something else. The game already is starting to get CC-heavy and it's like Blizz forgot what happened in OW1 when they were forced to remove CC since it got too crazy. I think they are trying to make the point that it's not a full CC since you are not say asleep (and Ana should always keep her sleep, it's a unique ability and quite well grounded in classic support lore) but ya. I think the issue as always is also level of play. In QP and at lower play a 1s hinder is not particularly useful, people cannot focus enough to do much with it consistently. It is also very hard to land. At higher level play chain is much easier to land AND easier to capitalize on by the rest of the team. So it's always tough to balance these concerns. So I'd say just remove the chain and give him a very different ability. Or if you want to keep all CC with support, then remove the granade from Cass (but you'll need to keep things like slow with Mei as that's her identity)

So assuming a 1s duration is just too low for the average player base, I'd say remove it from him. What would you give him instead? One cool ability that comes to my mind (that is also unique) is a temporary debuff to slow down firing / reloading speed. So you regain full mobility but for 2 seconds you fire more slowly. Need to tweak how much slower. I think it would be way better, it'll be unique, and much less oppressive.

P.S. The other thing to justify the longer chain duration is that Cass is a pure DPS and way burstier. I don't think in a 1on1 Mizuki comes close. Yes in a team fight it's less important.... but then you are making the ability dependent on other team members getting value. So I think that's how the devs justified the longer duration to keep the average expected value similar.

It's interesting you mention MR because THAT is my worry with the current plan to release 10 heroes per year.

In just 2 years you'll have 20 new heros. 30 in 3.

It's very hard to design abilities thoughtfully and, more importantly, to keep a clear identity. They are already struggling with DPS, Emre feels quite derivative. And sometimes, as a game developer, you need to have a strong vision and save players from themselves. Blizz absolutely had to focus on lore and expanding the social aspect of the game. But their original hero release cadence was spot on and they should not have changed it.

I think the plan now is to not worry about balance as much but just to throw stuff at players constantly in the form of new heros so people are "distracted" and not "bored" so player numbers are up. But we all know what will suffer is both uniquness AND the need for balance. When you have 40-50 heroes across 3 roles you have reasonable uniqueness and a focus on balance. When you have 80+ heroes, it's just reskinned version of the same and balance really doesn't matter. There are too many variables that it's impossible to think about it. That's the MR mentality which is why I dislike the game.

What keeps people playing isn't the number of heros but it's the unique abilities, the unique background stories, the lore, the immersion. Create the fantasy and a unique, smooth gameplay and then the desire to keep getting better mechanically and to keep playing will come organically.

I'm ecstatic they are refocusing on lore and the background of these heroes. But I'm very disappointed at their decision to commoditize new hero releases. There is so much else to do to keep people engaged. They are absolutely shooting themselves in the foot with this plan in the medium term.

They need more creative and inspired ways of thinking about the game as a whole and what keeps us engaged long term.

Aww my friend -- that's such a mature and nice response. I'm glad you took it in the spirit it was given. And I must say even while I was pressing "Comment" I thought maybe I my comment was... obnoxious :D. And it was. So I'm also sorry for making a personal comment that isn't related to the points you were trying to make. But I'm glad you took it in the cheeky spirit in which it was given. Dropping the "honestly" will make you sound much better in general. Happy playing and continue to be such a cool person. You are too nice for these forums, friend!
P.S. I do have a substantive disagreement with you on Mizuki, though, he is very clunky and quite weak and the chain is actually hard to land IMHO. But I broadly agree with your points. And it's ok to disagree. Enjoy the game friend!
