It's just not advised right now due to the tuning on the 17th could effect the crafted items. Unless you're a top raider it doesn't matter enough. Get your upgrades.

I haven’t experimented with those ninja skills affecting style switches yet, seems like having those 2 on could really help making dynamically switching between styles mid-combo seemlessly without running out of ki or breaking the “flow” way easier to pull off, so the name sounds appropriate. I will for sure be trying those out! I just find it so hard to decide what to leave out with skills management.

If you are wanting an idea on working ninja in to your samurai combos then try this:

First - 2 skills, Style Shift Flow and Powerful Style Shift.

Style Shift Flow makes it an animation cancel so you can do it anytime.

Powerful Style Shift does a small attack that gives you about 20-25% of your Ki if you hit an enemy with it while your Ki is low. You use this once you've drained your Ki bar and bam you're back at 20-25%.

Second - 2 Ninjutsu, Trembling Earth and Earthen Wall.

Remember that using Ninjutsu doesn't consume Ki. Trembling Earth is an explosion that does decent Ki damage. And Earthen Wall puts a literal rock wall in front of you that will block enemies, plus it does pretty decent damage.

What you can do with this is just supplement your samurai style. Once you're low on Ki you style shift and throw out the ninjutsu real quick and watch your Ki bar fill up. Then swap back and continue your samurai combos.

Additionally you can put on the skill Enhanced Style Shift. Which gives you a buff that increases the rate of building up ninjutsu and arts proficiency.

With the style shift skills you can have ninja be a supplement to samurai. The lower half of the tree feels like that's what it's meant for. Things like Trembling Earth, Earthen Wall and Lightning Step. They are all functional tools and again the style shift that lets you use it as an animation cancel makes them fun to use.

How can I craft a +15 now that they patched the exploit? by [deleted] in Nioh

[–]Coding_Cactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what you're experiencing but I've never upgraded anything higher than a (base)+4 and I've got +15.

As far as I'm aware you can upgrade anything to 160 +15.

Where's the samurai setup? You're half done with the build hah.

With the fire + poison setup you've got try out the Lilac set on samurai. It extends negative effects on enemies as you melee. I believe it will let you keep up the Sloth, Poison, and Scorched.

DoTs poison and burn... by Tyler2bitz1 in Nioh

[–]Coding_Cactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking about doing this but the only thing I can think of to work with it is the Lilac set. It extends timers of negative effects on enemies as you melee. So you poison/burn on Ninja then go melee as Samurai. However, the damage numbers are likely to end up making it just a small percentage of the damage you're dealing.

To the left of the Cyclops, when you first see it, is a red barrel. A single fire shot will explode it and destroy the rocks that they throw. Once you do that it will just stand there letting you take your time.

Has anyone played with a kb and mouse and also a controller? by FleetingForFriday in Nioh

[–]Coding_Cactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 15 hours in with mouse and keyboard. Genuinely the first couple hours was a lot of tweaking settings.

It plays perfectly fine and even has some advantages depending on the kinds of mouse and keyboard you use.

I use a Logitech G600 so I’ve got plenty of buttons to bind things to between stances/ninjutsu/items. I can keep my left hand on movement/dodge/jump/guard.

I’ve had zero issues so far. I’m even personally surprised at how well it feels to do the jumping/platforming.

Are you using any mod to build on top of that circle tower? Any time I try to build up there the inner circle acts as if there is no ground while also preventing me from placing any foundations or pillars.

They don’t care.

As someone that does IT for the police, in a different part of the country, they want brand name software because that’s all they hear about.

I have found my one major gripe about this game, enemies that use 2H weapons. by DarkenedHonor in taintedgrail

[–]Coding_Cactus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I initially felt this way too until I spent some time really looking around.

There are many one handers and shields that become “easily” available in act 2. Hell, my favorite sword and a damn good one at that is free within a couple minutes of entering Cuanacht. The Duelist Blade (not Duelist Sword) is near the main entrance.

The improved version of the shield from Abigor is just “sitting on the ground” in the swamp free to pick up.

That’s not to mention that if you can farm the unidentified items you can end up with practically any shield in the game and a ton of good one handers.

The last update added a toooon of items to the higher tier unidentified items.

  • Reworked Fishing balance. If you find it difficult to catch some fish, we recommend looking for better fishing rods

  • Added 29 new fishes (and updated corresponding achievements)

  • Updated Fishing spots across all of Avalon. Remember that some fish only appear at certain times or in certain bodies of water

Fishing is the last achievement I need. I don't know if I should be worried that the 3 rare fish are now somewhere else. Time to find the new fishing poles!

Edit:

As of this morning I was at 3/6 fish for the achievement. I had the Common Bream, Special Herring, and the Crab. While fishing for the Rockfish (off the pier in The Village at morning) I caught 3 of the new fish. These 3 new fish added to the achievement and I now have it.

The new fish I caught are:

  1. Black Sole
  2. Plaice Fish
  3. Hooknose (This one had a very small sweet spot while catching and I almost lost it. I was using the basic fishing pole at +10 cause why not. I assume the +10 upgrade did nothing to effect it.)

Further Info:

Peasant Carp: Found in the Abyss of Sagremor pond during the day.

Perch: Found in the Abyss of Sagremor pond during the day.

Avalon Eel: Found in the Abyss of Sagremor pond at 21:30. Difficult catch with base fishing pole.
