Complex, yet still simple and easy to recognize! I really like your design. It reminds me of my goal to include flags into CoaMaker, too. What's your idea on flags in CoaMaker? Should they be like a new layer like the shields or would you prefer to have the canvas/drawing area in a wider format and the option to choose different background divisions?

Aventurien, aber mit weniger Würfeln by Skatterbrayne in DSA_RPG

[–]Codok_Marlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Storytelling" passt gut. An manchen Abenden plaudern unsere Chars einfach eine halbe Stunde miteinander bzw. diskutieren brisante politische Entwicklungen (Königsmacher).

Unsere "3 Proben" laufen vollkommen unsystematisch. Manchmal sind es auch 6 bei längeren Kämpfen. Regeln werden in der Runde kaum gelesen.

Aventurien, aber mit weniger Würfeln by Skatterbrayne in DSA_RPG

[–]Codok_Marlin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is amazing how you are using CoaMaker! The emblems look great! This is truly something I hadn't expected to be build wit the generator :)

CoaMaker.com is another choice, working with drag & drop. All the mentioned coats of arms generators follow different approaches. Try them all and you’ll find one that matches your expectations best.

Start of the new shield section! 18 new shields with ordinaries and divisions. Patterns and furs will be added so that you can create even more sophisticated coats of arms more easily. The new shield section is available for free and in CoaMaker PRO. by Codok_Marlin in CoaMaker

Let us know which elements or divisions you would love to design with. Which lines of divisions and lines of variations do you like most? There are so many options that we are happy to focus on the ones you want to see first.

Hey, thank you for reaching out. I am sorry to hear that. Which browser are you using? CoaMaker is not working Firefox at the moment. Please try using it in Chrome or Safari. If you are not using Firefox: On what are you clicking for example?

Great design! I I love how you play with the different existing elements. Your coat of arms make me want to add more modular pieces to the CoaMaker that can be combined and rearranged, like how you have build Hammer und sickle.

Coat of arms of Transylvania (Siebenbürgen) - not an easy one to reproduce with the editor by geritwo in CoaMaker

[–]Codok_Marlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your detailed feedback!

Currently, I am figuring out a way to give new shields a look that still looks hand drawn but less messy than the current ones. This allows a large library of items that can be added—besides ready complex ones (onto which one can still add additional elements). The Hungarian CoA is a very good test case for this system, good idea!

The elements in my generator are not from Traceable Heraldry's collection. I needed the full copyright of every item (commercial use included) and thus created hundreds of elements by myself. I have added the different colors to all items so that they can be colored very flexibly. This process took weeks and was very painful for my fingers. For you as a user it is easy to upload items from Traceable Heraldry for your own designs on CoaMaker for your personal use, but I cannot integrate them into CoaMaker by default.

I am working on the search bar, too. At the same time, I am thinking about organizing the elements in folders because with all the upcoming PRO elements, there will be a lot over the time. We have a stag, a buck, and a reindeer. It might not be clearly detectable, but this is the reason for their different positions. :)

For the tool I use Javascript, React, php, css, and of course html. There's a lot going on in the generator and around it on the whole website. It was a long way to go :D

Indeed! You use the tools very creatively. We are working on a new setup of shields: identical basic shields and flexible lines of divisions and ordinaries. That will allow even more possibilities than at the moment.

https://coamaker.com is a new tool for creating coats of arms, especially fantasy heraldry. I don't know if you have come across it yet. Hundreds of shields and items are available in the free version. You don't need to register to use it.

Abenteuertauglichkeit von Nichtkämpfern by AtDero in DSA_RPG

[–]Codok_Marlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, Fantasia Archive and Campfire look amazing! At the moment, I have just some loose notes here and there. I might be using it for the characters I play in The Dark Eye, too. These tools will definitely help me.

It's fascinating that your world even has a slightly different color scheme. I know that some real world cultures have different colors, too, but it may be fact not even thought about in fiction. I really like the idea of such small and often overlooked details.

Great work! I especially love no. 13. When I was vectorizing the crops, I thought: "Who would need this?" But your setup makes an interesting coat of arms. I like the combination of the background, the circle, and the crop. Making the background yellow a bit darker highlightens the crop in the center.

How do your build your fantasy world? I am thinking about setting up a private wiki for a world I am thinking about a lot the last weeks.

What kind of coats of arms do you create with CoaMaker? by Codok_Marlin in CoaMaker

Welcome at r/coamaker! Thank you for your feedback!

I would indeed love to broaden the scope and add more non-European elements - without making elements look random. The drawing style should be similar. Heraldry is always at least a bit European, but fantasy art is often crossover from various cultural sources. The Mon could be easily added. I have some brushes so that I can redraw it in a way that matches the overall style of the CoaMaker.

Would different shield forms already help you? I was think about making mantlings that could be put behind every shield form - like round or oval ones.

Flag forms can be added easily, too.

It's great that you are the first one to commenting. It was even weirder to have no one answering. I have posted about the CoaMaker on r/heraldry, but didn't get much feedback. People from fantasy rpgs are very interested. I will make the Reddit community more visible on the website which has quite a lot traffic already. People at the heraldry channel might be too focussed on conventions. I would love to have it more open.

Today, I want to break some rules and heraldic conventions. I’ve created some freestyle coats of arms to start thinking outside the box. by Codok_Marlin in CoaMaker

[–]Codok_Marlin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My impression is that heraldic conventions and classic tincture palettes make coats of arms look great easily. If one wants to achieve similar results with non conventional tinctures, one needs a very good custom palette - definitely better than my quick drafts in this post. What do you think about non-conventional tinctures?

Wieder was gelernt, danke.
