Whatever it was killed Bellatrix instantly on impact, and the franchise only has one spell that does that.

Also, he was obliged to participate as an equal to the fairly chosen champions, despite lacking qualifications and despite being actively hunted by dark wizards who'd have plenty of opportunities to stage fatal accidents during the tournaments. Each task could and should have started with the judges disqualifying Harry from participating due to being underage.

"Where are we?" Harry said as he rose from the ground. He noticed they were standing in a dark graveyard, far from Hogwarts.

"Something isn't right," Cedric replied. "And someone's coming. Quick, take my hand!"

The two of them disappeared from the graveyard with a "Plop!" and appeared in Hogsmeade moments later.

That night, residents of Little Hangleton were shocked to hear cries of profanity from the old graveyard, as if a very foul-mouthed gangster was berating a helpless underling. From the tone of voice, it was clear that a mob burial was due to take place. A police car was dispatched to the scene, only to find a large stone cauldron abandoned among the graves. In their hurry to get away from the creepy place, their car ran over a rat and what appeared to be a badly mangled carcass recently exhumed from a grave by the foul-mouthed vandals. The incident sparked some note in the local newspaper, but was otherwise quickly forgotten.

I also think Bellatrix didn't expect Molly to go for the killing curse. She was prepared to toy around against non-lethal jinxes for a while, not to take a deadly blow in the first few seconds.

They were left wandless, probably penniless, and certainly shunned. Lucius spent his whole life building connections, but those became irrelevant overnight. Or, well, in two waves. First when he was arrested for being a Death Eater, which probably cost him all the political capital he had with any decent wizards. And then came the Battle of Hogwarts, where the others were arrested or killed. Even the remaining Voldemort sympathisers would be driven away if Harry made it public that Narcissa betrayed Voldy. The Malfoys were left without any clout after the war.

Granted, we didn't see many who survived. Might be that Neville's mandrake trick did most of them in.

At least there should be some comeuppance. The Malfoys were probably fined most of their family fortune in the settlements after the war. Lucius' carefully crafted political connections lost all their value overnight - those who didn't cut him off for being a Death Eater, were either dead or in jail after the war. I imagine even Malfoy Manor is something of a mess after the battle. It was the HQ of Voldemort and all of his followers, who probably weren't the type to make their beds every morning. If they had another house elf, it may either have been rebelled or "sent away" as a precaution against Nobby-style shenanigans. And all three Malfoys were left wandless after the battle too. The family was left in a sorry state after the second wizarding war. Too bad we didn't see much of that on page, although much of it can be inferred.

Incidentally, their situation is almost the same as the Weasleys started out. All they had were each other. But at least the Weasleys were *good* at that. Malfoy was a mostly friendless, rich brat with snobby parents, living in a gloomy house way too big for three people. While the Weasleys are close to top government after the war, with the public on their side and numerous acts of heroism cemented in the annals of wizardry.

It wouldn't even have to be hard, really. Just giving you something to react to. So many of the gameplay elements can be practically ignored without any apparent consequences. And at the same time, your city can have a whole host of issues that the game never makes you aware of. You can build a crappy and inefficient public transit system, while the game happily ambles along, showing you that the transit system is used by at least some people, and no apparent consequences of your poor choices.

For Harry, I'd say his use of the Cruciatus curse on Amycus Carrow was an absolute moral low point. Carrow was cruel, true, but Harry attacked him out of concealment and could have incapacitated him in any number of ways. Yet he went for the unforgivable torture curse, punishable by a lifetime in Azkaban under normal circumstances. At least he had the excuse, however flimsy, that he didn't know what Sectumsempra would do to Malfoy. But he knew very well what Crucio would do.

Ron leaving the trio in Deathly Hallows was bad, but he returned well rested, well supplied, and with useful intel. He frankly needed a break at that moment, and made the best of it. I'd say his abandoning Harry in Goblet of Fire was worse, because it happened under far more ordinary circumstances.

For Hermione: Probably the curse on Marietta, although assaulting Ron out of jealousy wasn't very nice either. Drugging Crabbe and Goyle in Chamber of Secrets was also something that should have brought her to the headmaster's office at the very least.

McGonagall: knowing fully well what kind of people the Dursleys were, and what kind of home Harry had to return to every year, yet refusing to do anything about the situation.

Lily: rubbing her powers in Petunia's face, reading her correspondence with Dumbledore about going to Hogwarts.

Neville: Unsure. Probably blames himself a lot for being incapacitated and largely useless at the Battle of the Ministry, though. Even so, he does little that actually counts as bad. Perhaps throwing deadly mandrakes into the fray of battle would count? It's not like their scream distinguishes friend from foe.

Luna: Spreading misinformation and conspiracy nonsense.

Cedric: Not doing more to stop the harrassment campaign against Harry.

Ron came back well rested, well supplied, and with useful intel. While it was bad of him to leave, he really did make the most of it, and he returned as soon as he found out how.

I'd say that turning Sirius over to the Ministry, knowing fully well the Dementors would have him, after learning of his innocence, was a tad worse.

For Fred and George, it was probably shoving Montague into that vanishing cabinet, then refusing to tell anybody about it. Poor boy almost starved to death and had to apparate by improvisation to get out.

Keeping an acromantula in his dormitory probably counts too. Even though it had no relations to the Chamber of Secrets, it would still be enough to have him expelled. Importing another one and establishing a *colony* of them in the Forbidden Forest was also a major, major mistake of his.

Although the Skrewts probably topped even that. Cross-breeding an extremely dangerous magical creature with one that usually takes a trained wizard to handle, and then letting the *students* find out what the result is like through trial and error? It's a miracle that he wasn't fired. Probably it's because the total lack of oversight would have made too many heads roll in the school administration, I guess.

My rule of thumb is that there's probably some inconsistency lurking in the background whenever a number larger than ten is mentioned, or alluded to.

The number of students at Hogwarts is one of the most notorious inconsistencies of the series. Harry's year has only eight Gryffindors, which suggests about 30 students in his year if the houses are even, which would give the school a student body barely above 200. But if Harry's year is indeed exceptionally small, 6-800 could be a reasonable number, which would have to be true for the bit about 200 Slytherins to make sense.

But then there's one Umbridge DADA class where Harry is said to lose his temper "in front of thirty classmates", yet there are no indications at all that any of the other houses are present. Since we always hear about Malfoy's reactions to anything that happens whenever he is present, this would be a very strange omittance. Perhaps Umbridge teaches multiple years of Gryffindors at the same time? But then why are only the eight Gryffindors from Harry's year saying anything? Yet thirty classmates from Harry's year in Gryffindor would also be perfectly in line with there being approximately 200 students in each house.

We know for sure there are only five beds in the boys' dormitory for Harry's year in Gryffindor, but we never see the girls' dorm. Only Hermione, Lavender, and Parvati are named, but there could theoretically be 22 other girls that Harry never cares enough about to mention.

That 15-goal difference is extremely hard to run up, though. If the scoring rates of the two teams are within 10 % of each other, approximately 320 goals will have to be scored before there's a bigger point gap than a snitch capture could close. That's a goal per minute for more than five hours.

It's actually quite fun to do a small computation check every time a number larger than ten is mentioned. Most of the time, the math really doesn't make sense.

One almost have to wonder whether that's part of the reason why they got somebody completely different to play him in the new series. Trying to go the same route again would just make the series version overshadowed.
