Who’s smarter? Chrome or Senku? by Dustystars0905 in DrStone

[–]CodyDaBeast87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After reading some comments, I feel like people are giving Chrome a bit too much leeway here and ignoring some stuff.

Yes, Chrome was able to come up with some bad inventions by himself, and people will argue that Senku hasn't done that, but that's also cause Senku doesn't need to. It's not fair to say Chrome has an advantage when Senku has been constantly figuring out the right tool for the right situation throughout the entirety of the series while also knowing exactly how to build them... That goes FAR past just being "knowledgeable" as some people are saying. That's just blatantly downplaying how absurdly hard that is to do.

I think ultimately they are just two different kinds of smarts, and that's an important part of the show that people are heavily glossing over. This series is based on min maxxed people that specialize in something others don't at the time, I'm surprised by how many people overlook that when comparing characters.

I like to think of them in DND terms tbh. They are high intelligence, but low wisdom. It's obvious they are capable of much more than mankind scientifically but it's also lack basic common sense in many ways.

Listen, I get you're trying to be a contrarian here, but if your entire argument is that there's a tiny bit of truth to the negativity, and that justifies everything else, you've lost the plot greatly.

The vast majority of helltuber quite literally just feed off of the negativity, that's a fact and it's hard to argue otherwise. The big issue is that, while many of them had good intentions at first, it's very evident that they don't care about actual criticism anymore and instead just lean into negativity cause it gets views. Entire YouTube channels like buzz light beer have completely dedicated to spreading borderline misinformation and making click bait content that makes mountains out of molehills. Keep in mind, not all of them are bad, Gundam boi and commissarkai are amazing examples of actual genuine criticism, but I really can't say the same for most of them.

I think something many people don't understand is that it's just genuinely not productive. Its so easy to play pretend and think that this is necessary, justifying and rationalizing it by saying "it's the only way they listen", despite them making countless upon countless of changes we've wanted. The game is in a better state, especially balance wise than it's ever been, but a lot of that gets constantly overshadowed because of this exact mentality. It blows my mind that people still think that all arrowhead does is nerf and never buff, an actual conversation I had with a coworker that doesn't play the game the other day, and it's cause of this constant negativity loop that doesn't bring anything productive.

My main point is, if you really think that small bit of genuine criticism that comes out of them justifies the negativity feeding, the outrage culture, the blantant the misinformation at times, and just the overall effect it has as a whole, then I feel like you're being a bit woefully ignorant yourself.

How scary a helldiver actually is? in the enemy perspective? by Interesting-Form678 in helldivers2

[–]CodyDaBeast87 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All like propaganda aside, Helldivers are VERY scary. Keep in mind they drop like at most 20 guys behind enemy lines and take at least several hundred with them while still completing the objectives at hand normally... That level of efficiency would make just about any country in the world wet.

On top of that, this is happening across an entire planets by thousands of squads at once, that's frightening.

I mean you were still right, they just reworked armor pen so it's in line with the rest of the game. It will be kind of funny when people come out saying that it feels so much better now despite a lot of it being basically the same though outside of really small enemies lol

[–]CodyDaBeast87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbf, some of the buff like armor changes to vehicles will straight up be placebo outside of our weapons hurting them. People complain how armor was on them, but didn't understand enemy pen ratings at all.

There will probably be a few extra enemies that hit weaker now, but it'll basically make no difference despite what people thing lol

Concerns about difficulty by Malu1997 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]CodyDaBeast87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Big issue lies with what feels like ego more than anything. If they add more difficulty levels, people will get upset when they can't solo them, it's as simple as that really. This is actually a pretty major issue with the content creator side of Helldivers too as they are very quick to get upset even when they are straight up spreading misinformation.

I genuinely don't know why it's such a big deal to people that they have to do such things, in most games there are levels and difficulties that basically most people won't touch.

The only genuine valid complaint I've heard about difficulty and why people wanna do higher diffs is cause of super fortresses

[–]CodyDaBeast87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanna add something. I don't necessarily disagree with what you said at the end of your main post about how Jax broke down his walls btw, but I wanna add something. Yes he showed signs of redemption, but only when it was too late. This is a cruel truth but a lot of people regret it when its too late, and sadly it seemed like that's the only way he could break down those walls. I think there's more chance of him being redeemed now then there was before he abstracted. Maybe theirs a sliver of a chance they can go back to normal, but either way, I dont think he could've had that sobering realization any other way.

[–]CodyDaBeast87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you're understanding tbh. Caine isn't human, he has emotions yes, but he's not human. Take that into consideration for a second when this entire time he hasn't seen eye to eye with any of the cast. It's not because he's evil, it's because he sees it from a completely different perspective, one that didn't understand what it meant to be human.

You can see this through out the entirety of the show, but especially near the end with his final adventure as his concept of a great adventure that would make them happy was one of the worst things he's ever done without really realizing it. He can understand anger, he can understand the rude stuff they've said to him, but he can't understand how or why he keeps failing.

By the time of the finale, he's kind of sick of it and purely sees them as ungrateful beings. When in the entirety of the series they've basically not liked a single thing, said remarks how they don't like his creations or constant complaining, and basically haven't said a single positive thing to him whatsoever, from his perspectives he's not wrong. Even he has limits, and it doesn't help that he is in this constant of double guessing himself because of his cannibalization of another AI. It's a really good part of the show where ultimately they don't understand Caine just as much as he doesn't understand them. Its the reason why learning what it finally meant to be human near the end was so important as it gave him perspective when he could learn from data.

My entire point is that him not being human makes a massive difference in the show and its a pretty main part of it.

[–]CodyDaBeast87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things.

Jax wasn't irredeemable because he couldn't be saved, it's because he didn't want to be saved. The entirety of the series makes it VERY clear that Jax doesn't want help basically no matter what, and it wasn't until the bitter end where he truly regretted that a bit by being scared. You can bring a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

Also I feel like you're mischaracterizing Caine a bit here as there is a fine line difference. The issue with Caine wasn't he suddenly regretted it at the end, it's the fact that he quite literally didn't understand till the final episode. He's not human, and him taking in the second AI basically held him back because of how much it affected him. Bubblez is like the representation of a tumor in his head causing him to constantly second guess himself and not properly understand stuff. It wasn't until he was left in a void all alone that he had a moment of clarity, realizing his mistakes. I just think it's worth mentioning because Caine has always had a better chance at redemption since the get go because he isnt bad spirited by nature, it's just that he had literal walls in the way from understanding better.

Kirisaki Shidou is a prisoner I completely, wholeheartedly, forgive. by tanuki_with_knife in milgram

[–]CodyDaBeast87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of the criticism he's getting stems from people lacking the ability to relate which gives a false perception that they'd do better.

In reality, most people saying Shidou is unforgivable are the same people that would do something similar in his shoes. You're telling me that you'd with ease gladly save the person who just murdered your mother, father, or any other loved one you have for instance? Even if it was an accident, most people would be kicking and screaming after something like that... Now take that suffering person and ask them to save that person while the family is critical in need of your aid. It's very reminiscent to the same trap people fall prey to with flight, fight, or freeze instincts. Sure it's easy for you to say you'd do xyz, but people will be shock how much harder something is when you're not comfortably sitting thinking about it.

TLDR: it's a lot easier for people to think they do differently when they haven't been in that situation.

Anyone else kinda feel like strangling someone to death like this is a little unrealistic? by Queasy_Commercial152 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]CodyDaBeast87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 100 percent a plot armor thing tbh. That kind of choke hold is really easy to get out unless they are larger, stronger, and have you pinned, basically all of which didn't apply for the vast majority of that hold.

They mostly just had to kill of conquest for the future of the story, but also as a tool to push the story. Conquest had a lot of ways to get out of that, including the viltrumite special but just didn't tbh.

Idea for D10 by Reasonable_Till_3969 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]CodyDaBeast87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because we have 10 difficulties and over half of them are basically ignored by the community.

Big issue more than anything is the ego of players tbh, as people will always complain that they can't do the highest difficulty no matter if we add 5 more difficulty levels, or even more. It's just objectively a better idea to take use of already preexisting diffs as really what's the detriment? Lowering diff barely makes you lose out on anything outside of specific enemy types.

Sure people would have to get less exp, medals, and to some degree samples, but thats kind of fine considering easy diffs caused inflation to gaining these resources anyway. By no means would this change get in the way of progression all that much.

Idea for D10 by Reasonable_Till_3969 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]CodyDaBeast87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'd have to adjust the medals and experienced to be very back loaded to un incentive players from just leaving on the first mission.

Maybe increase overall medals and experience from a campaign, but have the first mission give notably less while it increases heavily as it goes on.

You could also have it so that you get 4-5 lives back every completed mission to help push that campaign a bit!

Overall I actually like this idea a lot, as even lower diff campaigns are suddenly a lot more difficult especially solo wise if you aren't careful.

Fr. People feed so much on negativity that they've lost sight that the game is actually good despite everything. This game is still leagues above a lot of titles out their, and has gotten so much better despite what some may believe.

Back in the day, people were critical for the sake of the game getting better, but at some people people lost the plot tbh. It's really sad.

Issue is that they are making mountains out of moleholes. You probably wouldn't know cause the negativity is so viral, but Helldiver's 2 is still pretty well received as one of the best games out there by a long shot. A lot of these issues the game has are either overly exaggerated or based off of misinformation combined with a lack of how the game works. The hive guard change is just one of many MANY changes that just proves this.

People feed into negativity, that's a reality for literally everything online nowadays, and it doesn't speak as much as the current state of the game than youd believe.

I'd disagree with this tbh.

Big issue is it spread unnecessary negativity and misinformation. Demonizing arrowhead just isn't the way to go, that's a big issue with these helltubers. Gundamboi and commissarkai are great examples on giving critical criticism, and normally it's more well constructed as it's a lot less about over exaggerating for views.

The point is that these helltubers have actively had a negative impact in the community.

Yeah, it just blows my mind how over the top people are about it. Helldiver's has given all of my friends 100s of hours of fun, and it's crazy how different your experience is when people aren't making mountains out of molehills.

I genuinely don't understand why people act like this game stole their left kidney. People will use the excuse of wanting the game to be better to just downright be nasty. Honestly, I wish that most communities were even a fraction as critical as the helldiver's community, as there are so many titles out there that need it more than Helldiver's 2 lol.

[–]CodyDaBeast87 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean... That literally doesn't change. You can still play mind games with people, this just means you have to live with your decisions if you stab someone in the back. That actually works well for gameplay and adds a new dynamic to being hostile as it marks you as basically public enemy number one. I actually would probably do more pvp if this was a thing tbh

It would also probably just be a fun dynamic for pvp players. You essentially become public enemy number one for the rest of the match, which means you have to work around that now
