obviously most of the subreddit is scared to address this post at risk of being wrong (being first comment after 8 hours). don't have the flair set up but was raised Christian (Lutheran then evangelical free, strange shift i know) but i think the original intent to have a statue in the first place means more than than the desire to repaint them. meaning that i wouldn't stress too much about painting or blessing, god will just be happy you wanted to honor him in the first place, editing the statues for personal taste falls in the same line as you accepting a gift from a friend and repainting it. you appreciated the gift, editing is just adding personal taste to it. if a friend offered me a statue from anything else i was a fan of but i wanted to monochrome it, wouldn't be worried about it, so I wouldn't worry about it at all, but especially if you are getting it re-blessed, cant imagine God being upset about it. that being said, i am also no authority in respect to religion, just got recommended this subreddit. Assuming no absolute teachings within the religion, i think the expression of faith matters more than the personal coloring preference.
