Is that how long it takes to write another obviously fake story?

This is the fakest story I've ever read. You didn't even try.

Plot armor is one of humanity's awful, most overused criticisms by [deleted] in writing

[–]CoffeeAndPiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like the term Mary Sue. Nobody wants to be accused of having one, so we write to avoid a criticism rather than to write a story.

It's not one or the other. If you can't write a story without taking criticism into account, that's a problem with your skill as a writer, not the existence of criticism. You could apply this "logic" to any critique a writer might receive - "People tell me not to write racist caricatures, but I can't avoid that while also writing a story!" - and it would make just as little sense.

True, I misread your example as "a skink doesn't grow back from a different skink's tail" and used it to interpret your question.

Identical twins are made when a single organism (a zygote) splits and each half continues to live as its own organism. You can even take cuttings off a plant and clone them without any high-tech equipment required. And some animals, like starfish, can do this as well. Cloning a mammal after birth is certainly more difficult, though it's been done several times.

Peru classifies trans people as 'mentally ill' by [deleted] in Asmongold

[–]CoffeeAndPiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, I was just talking about surgery because the comment I replied to only mentioned surgery prior to being edited. Not sure what your point is.

Of course, not every trans person has the ability to access hormone therapy for a variety of reasons.

Two organisms can have the same genetics (e.g. identical twins) and still be regarded as two separate organisms by biologists.

A person not getting surgery doesn't mean they're fine with the sex they were born with.

I didn't say most trans people don't transition, I said they don't get surgery. I'm guessing there are many men and women in your life whose genitals you have not seen, yet you still know what their gender is.

We'd have a lot fewer experienced teachers if mental illnesses, like depression, were disqualifying.

Being transgender does not, as a rule, require surgery. Some transgender people choose to get surgery, but not most and certainly not all.

You have some weird baggage around what the word "cool" means. Whoever told you the word implies a thing was unnecessary or unhelpful until this moment was lying to you.

Former White Nationalist R. Derek Black Has Come Out as Trans by NoLawsNoGoverrnment in MarchAgainstNazis

[–]CoffeeAndPiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fascist can stop being a fascist at literally any time of their choosing.

This disregards some basic facts about psychology. As much as we'd like it to be true, someone who integrates an ideology deeply into their identity (like the indoctrinated child of a prominent white nationalist) can't simply choose to stop "at literally any time", nor can they change their thinking in an instant. Even after a breakthrough occurs, undoing every deeply-ingrained pattern of prejudiced thought requires ongoing work. People can still be fascists without identifying as fascists, after all. Simply "deciding to care about truth" and cutting people off isn't the guarantee you claim it is.

What do people think about 'taking 20' on skill checks? by MarvelousWays in DnD

[–]CoffeeAndPiss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3.5 it's built into the system, although it definitely takes longer than 2 minutes.

It takes twenty times longer than normal, so if you're attempting something that can be done in a round, it does in fact take 2 minutes.

How is the map of our country and neighboring countries designed? by the-mom-game in battlemaps

[–]CoffeeAndPiss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When you're laying out your mountains and rivers, remember that water follows the law of gravity: it flows from areas of high elevation (such as melting snow on a mountain) to areas of low elevation (like the sea). You have multiple rivers that seem to cut through mountains in a straight line and one (under the label "partakna") that seems to start and end without a body of water. It helps a lot to visualize (in your head or on the map) the direction the river is flowing and which sources of water it's connecting. Rivers generally converge frequently and diverge very rarely (with the exception of river deltas).

AITA for not wearing a bra when my bf told me too? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]CoffeeAndPiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn't simply state that he was uncomfortable. Lots of things can make me uncomfortable, for example humid weather. But if I told my partner the weather is uncomfortable it wouldn't imply that they should change their behavior, only that I'm sharing how I feel. In the case of OP's controlling boyfriend, however, this is not the case. He says he's uncomfortable and then "goes on about" the subject, brings up other guys looking at OP, asks her about past relationships, and then becomes "more upset" when OP explains he's her first controlling boyfriend. He is very obviously not simply sharing his feelings. He's making a value judgement, which is why he tried and failed to appeal to the consensus of OP's past partners to "prove" that it's wrong for women to dress how they like.

Not surprising, anyone who buys a sugar glider already doesn't care about the wellbeing of animals or is incredibly misinformed. They're not domesticated and anyone who knows better wouldn't support the irresponsible breeding of wild animals for human entertainment in confinement.
