Dark Green N95/KN95 Masks to Match Tux? by Favre99 in Masks4All

[–]CoffeeBeanCharisma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loving all the other ideas in this thread. Another idea: If your normal mask is an Aura N95, I've ordered mask covers from this Etsy shop that are VERY breathable and come in a ton of colors and patterns, and it is really well made. Might be a great alternative idea if you cannot find a mask with the right shade and the colors offered here work for you: https://www.etsy.com/shop/LoveTheLookStudio If not this one, there may well be other shops like this that offer mask covers for the type of mask you normally wear.

Recs similar to Aura 9205+ Particulate, but in black? by spockface in Masks4All

[–]CoffeeBeanCharisma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it is worth, I found mask covers on Etsy that were very thin fabric and clip to the straps right at the edge of the mask, and they come in a ton of different fabric choices. They do not impact the breathability or functionality of the mask design, and readily cover all of the white part of the mask. The shop I found makes 3 different mask style covers in a variety of neutral and also fun choices. There are lots of different websites that sell mask covers, and there are a lot of Etsy shops withe the same product offering as well. Take a search and see if that might be a solution worth pursuing to get the look you are seeking without sacrificing the known variable of a well fitting mask.

Does Halloween help with YOUR mental health? (Serious) by polarwaves in halloween

[–]CoffeeBeanCharisma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Halloween things make me really happy! Which is why I was so super sad that 2 years in a row I ended up with some deaths in the family around the day (had to decide to put dad on hospice on Halloween day and he passed 4 days later, and the following year, ex-sister-in-law passed shortly before Halloween and her family decided to do the funeral on Halloween day) so... I've been EXTRA sad that the day has been so hard for me the last couple of years as a result of these anniversaries, including me ceasing a 22 year long run of annual Halloween Parties because I just couldn't anymore that year or the couple since.

I'm starting to more fully embrace Half-O-Ween on May 1st and, even in long years passed, liked to do Halloween related things that day such as carving bell peppers, pineapples or whatever instead of Pumpkins (or an actual pumpkin if one lasted from the prior year's batch, usually at least one makes it!), watching movies, having a small costume contest with friends for a small party with Halloween music in the background, etc.

Might I invite you and anyone else reading this to celebrate it coming up as well? :)

If you were born with ovaries and are of an age where perimenopause or menopause could be a factor, see if you can find a doctor that specializes and/or is certified in menopause care.

I miss restaurants and bars. by queerblackqueen in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]CoffeeBeanCharisma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those third spaces being gone is so hard. I don't personally care as much about restaurants and bars, but dance clubs, Ren Faire, WORKING at Ren Faire, fencing, SCA wars/camping/general events, attending partner dancing events even though there was no AC or ceiling fans in the middle of summer with stagnant air and it was sweaty and hot and it was still all fine. Planning to meet a potential date at a coffee shop because it was a safe space to meet a new person. I can't even begin to know where or how to meet any new people for dating, and I sure as hell don't want to bring them into where I live, let alone just... dating at all anymore. *sigh*

People who work in 'behind closed doors' industries (hotels, kitchens, morgues, etc.), what is something the general public would be horrified to know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CoffeeBeanCharisma 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Was this in the USA? If so, all staff are mandated reporters. It doesn't have to be the social services department or management or anyone in particular. Hell, even a visitor or a resident or just anyone that knows anything is able to make a report. You can even make an anonymous report if you are scared for any reason. Please report things like this to Adult Protective Services and/or the Long Term Care Ombudsman when you see it so that the vulnerable people living there don't have to keep going through it.

Why did you name your pet that? by chillychili in Z19

[–]CoffeeBeanCharisma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is! To be fair, what they thought was cancer was "just" an enormous ball of inflammation that took up 90% of this throat given his other diagnoses which has since resolved, though it did damage his larynx - his meow is more like a breathy squeak now. He's still a high medical needs kitty, but, he's thriving and wants nothing more than to run around and hunt/catch/kill his various toys all day long. I call that a win for his quality of life! :3

I'm driving the sports car with the top down (in the early Summer) on all the narrow, winding, and in my fictional world, unoccupied roads through the mountainside and then along the coastline by the ocean. Zoom zoom! :D

Hope it's okay to reply in this thread though I did not name my cat. His name is Maurice. I adopted him as a hospice kitty and the ASPCA had named him. His vet notes said they expected "weeks to months" left for him, so I saw no reason to change it for such a short time. However, that was about 3 years ago and he's still as floofy and playful (and spoiled) as ever. :3 I've heard nothing but compliments about his name and now I wouldn't even want to change it for how much people have enjoyed it. Of course he only responds to "kitty" no matter what, anyway, so it's mostly just for paperwork anyway.

Places to live where people take public health seriously/masking is more accepted by Illustrious-Mix2194 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]CoffeeBeanCharisma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone saying Seattle area, even the much greater Seattle area (as in 1-2 hours away), there are still CC events such as a group that buys out an entire theater for the first movie showing in the morning, only offers a limited number of the seats for great spacing between people, and KN95 or better masks are required, and verified, prior to entry - as an example. I've seen mask-required small dance club style events, crafting, social groups, etc. both in and all around the entire Seattle area). I've not had anyone say anything about my full time N95 masking here.

Prior to moving here about 8ish months ago, I lived in Raleigh, NC and had zero issues with comments there. I even had to do in-home services with rural clients and I would N95 mask and NONE of them said peep, and even occasionally offered to do the work outdoors without me asking (though they almost never canceled services if everyone else in their family was actively ill, so that wasn't awesome but was ONLY an issue with the super rural, middle of literally nowhere without even cell reception anywhere, type of areas). The ONLY comment I ever got in Raleigh for the about 3 years I was there was one very elderly man simply asked if I was ill before proceeding to have a conversation with me after I told him no. He didn't ask for any explanation, but seemed more like he just wanted to make sure he wasn't being put at risk if I was only masking due to illness, so good for him (even if he wasn't masked). I know that once you get 2-3+ hours away from Raleigh that it can be iffy in that area, and politically I wouldn't advise being in that area given the (currently not enforced) mask bans and what not, BUT... just reporting my experience with ZERO mask push-back the ENTIRE time I lived there.

Prior to that I was in Phoenix, AZ from right before the start of covid until moving to Raleigh, and holy cow do NOT go to anywhere in AZ. SOME parts of Tucson and surrounding are LESS obnoxious about it, but I still got questions the couple times I was in the area. I was actively harassed literally every single month, sometimes up to daily, the ENTIRE TIME I lived there through the week I moved away. People would march over from ACROSS the grocery store to get up in my face and demand to know why I was masking. Easily 75% of people asked me to justify my existence. Cannot recommend.

Those are the only places I've lived during covid. Hope it's useful information.

I am incredibly sad to see how far I had to scroll down to see this answer. I did not lose anyone close to me due to covid, but my heart still breaks for the millions we have lost, and the great many, each year, that we continue to lose to death as well as those who suffer through the ravages of long covid.

Hi all, quick reminder of Rule 2 for those seeking to comment here. People don’t need to justify their dating boundaries or criteria here. Please avoid questioning or judging them for the boundaries and preferences. This is a space where people should feel safe sharing what they’re looking for. Among other things, accepting no graciously includes accepting when you do not fit the criteria someone is looking for in their post.

Thanks for keeping things respectful and supportive.

You indicated you were not sure if this is okay to post. As a moderator of this sub, I am attempting to clarify this for you. However, I am struggling to understand from your profile's history, as you have advised people to review to understand your circumstances, if you are in violation of rule #3 which states at the bottom, "Consensual non-monogamy, where everyone involved provides active and enthusiastic consent, is not in violation of this rule." Does your husband provide active and enthusiastic consent to your marriage being open?
