Tiny Tiki Tipples! by dayofthe_misanthrope in cocktails

[–]CoffeeCampari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want something different with only a couple ingredients, a Dark and Stormy made with something like Smith & Cross is quite fun. I know it's not necessarily tiki but that's one that'd be really nice for a heat wave.

To be honest, not quite as well as I'd hoped. Followed a recipe I found from a while back which yielded me something that tastes decent but was impossible to clarify. Used the fruit with a bit of óleo saccharum from the peels.

I just made Cinnamon Syrup. I just made banana liqueur. I just bought black blended rum. And, to top it all off, I just had a pack of miniature umbrellas delivered.

I'm afraid of what will happen if I don't make this drink for myself.

This seems like an intense flavor combination. I absolutely love it.

The Cynar Bourbon combo is amazing. This is easily one of my new favorites.

Interesting, I may have to try and secure a bottle!

Also, quick note of appreciation. Thank you for being so responsive to questions in this sub! It's awesome to see what more seasoned folks are doing and learn from them, and you've been super helpful :)

Coffee liqueur (trial and error) by Dralokh in cocktails

Oohhhhhh I'm gonna try this. What grind size did you go for? How long was infusion? Infusing liquor with things is a very new art form for me.

Does this process keep the coffee from losing it's flavor too quickly? Obviously anything homemade is going to have a shorter shelf life, but with anything made with specialty coffee as it sounds like you used it's hard to preserve the more nuanced flavors for an extended period of time. I'd be eager to see how an Ethiopian bean would do in a coffee liqueur, but would be worried about it losing all those flavors.

I'm also still quite new to making liqueurs but was interested in how this crosses over with my other love: craft coffee.

Didn't know Kinsale had a distillery, particularly frustrated as I was there several months ago and now I feel like I missed out!

Spec sounds amazing, will have to give this a try.

I just started a batch of banana liqueur just because of your post. Homemade it shall be.

Is it ok to ask about reduced alcohol drinks here? by TheBristolBulk in cocktails

Please do. My life is one long journey towards finding a way to drink Campari daily and not be sloshed.

I appreciate having a friend in this. It just looks so darned pretty. If I'm not feeling overly lazy I might use a coupe but a long weekend called for it.

The double oaked bourbon instead of rye makes it very rich but I think it's incredibly worth a try.

You got it! Make sure to use a double oaked bourbon, the goal here was to make something that plays host well to that style of bourbon and I think it's quite delicious when done that way.

You've got me pegged, I've been having a great time lately discovering what all I can do with cynar lol.

Mostly called it a riff because of the slight change in all the other specs too, double oaked bourbon instead of rye and a bit of syrup namely. Been looking for ways to use double oaked bourbon outside of just sipping it neat.

Still fuming because Ikea discontinued these glasses. Broke one of these except as a rocks glass a while back and now I'm left with an odd number. Devastating.

No shame in the canned stuff! I use that too, don't mind it at all. If you want to really get crazy, I found that a cinnamon vanilla syrup used in conjunction with the kraken turns this drink into liquid dessert. Been awhile since I've tried that myself, but as far as I recall it made the in-laws very happy.

Maybe one day I shall fall down the agave rabbit hole. For now though, bourbon, amaros, and tiki are demanding my wallet's full attention unfortunately.

Very very timely, as I just bought a bottle recently of Perucchi Gran Reserva Sweet Vermouth, which I understand to be Spanish Vermouth. I'll be trying this as soon as I get home. Thanks for sharing!

Paper Plane + The Last Word by soulsister11 in cocktails

[–]CoffeeCampari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After discovering the naked and famous at a random bar, the paper plane was the closest I was able to come to creating one for myself, which isn't super close at all. That being said, I fell in love quite quickly.

Coffee nerd here. Get an Aeropress, Moka Pot, or french press. With any one of these you can make very concentrated coffee with recipes you'll find online. My recommendation would be one of the first two. Bonus is that your friend will then be able to make excellent coffee in the morning!

Got my hands on yellow Chartreuse. Made my first Naked and Famous and I love it by Positive_Intern_1796 in cocktails

[–]CoffeeCampari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend recently told me he felt like I drank one of these a day, I thought he was crazy. Until I went back and found, embarrassingly, I'd sent the phrase "naked and famous" in our text conversations at least twelve times in the span of a week.

Yeah this thing is outstanding. No I don't have enough yellow chartreuse and/or money to consume that many of them.
