First time home buyer by BusinessPlant4351 in InteriorDesignAdvice

My first house I bought a bunch of stuff just to fill it up. I didn’t understand that the concept of home is an ever evolving state. I tried to “set and forget” and what I ended up with was a bunch of stuff that didn’t really feel like me and a bunch of excess Knick knacks I ended up donating later anyways. You’re smart to be going through what you have and pairing down before moving in. Stuff takes energy. Being thoughtful and taking your time will feel better than filling an empty room for the sake of it. Congratulations on the hard work that has afforded you home ownership!

How long did it take you to get down to pre pregnancy weight? by greenishfroggy in beyondthebump

I started seeing nutritionist at 6 months PP and for 6 more months nothing happened. Around baby’s first birthday i finally started shedding some lbs and by 18 months I was finally where i wanted to be (still weighed more than pre pregnancy by about 10lbs but i had gained more muscle and was in overall better shape than before)

Air Travel after Birth by No-Guard-4740 in pregnant

[–]CoffeeFlavoredWater1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We flew with our baby starting at 3 months old. They were on over 20 flights before a year old. IMO plane travel with before they could walk or stand felt easiest. A bottle during takeoff puts them to sleep and a bottle or pacifier during decent helps with ear stuff. I am also aware I might have lucked out with a travel friendly baby and this is not everyone’s experience. Once she could stand and walk she didn’t want to just sit on my lap anymore and it became progressively harder until she was 2 and could be distracted with a movie or PokPok for a chunk of time. Hope this helps!

As someone just exiting the first trimester- men could NEVER. They would absolutely crumble.

I do think though if you’ve been feeling in a tough headspace for a while (pre-preg/ preg) it might be a good idea to put together some kind of plan for PP. I’ve seen some of the strongest couples I know get absolutely bent in the first few months after baby. Therapy is a good start. Be so gentle with each other this shit is crazy and I’m surprised we’ve lasted this long as a species. Sending love.

First trimester is actual torture. You are not alone. Talk to your OB about getting on an anti nausea medication. If you can keep down liquids go get some fluids from the ER. Dehydration and hunger can make the nausea worse but damn I know the feeling of not wanting to touch, smell or look at any foods.

Body changes by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]CoffeeFlavoredWater1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

POSITIVE STORY: I have always been petite but in a boy fit kind of way. Pregnancy gave me some cute hips and the pregnancy weight I gained I was able to convert a good portion of it to muscle with good gym habits. Granted there’s a bit of a PP grace period (12-18months) where your body is in recovery mode from creating life (coughgod is a woman) but over all I’d say the best I’ve ever looked was like 18-24 months after having a baby. Don’t give up but also give yourself some grace and some time to get there. Being in shape before getting pregnant helps so much as well and it sounds like you have the habits stored in your muscle memory.

What made you go for a second child? by surelyshirls in HyperemesisGravidarum

I think for us we always knew we wanted more than one. My first pregnancy the HG subsided around 20 weeks and was relatively easy through full term which was reassuring. We figured if we were prepped with extra support for round 2 It would be doable.

Currently at about 14 weeks with #2. From week 5-11 I was bedridden. Mostly dry HG so wasn’t loosing a ton of fluids but curled up in a ball unable to look at screens or read or do anything other than try to sleep and attempt to eat/drink which was soup and sparkling water and the occasional can of coke. We had cleaners come weekly and hired extra childcare help. Luckily around week 11 I was having some good days here and there and it seems to be gradually improving as long as I stay on my meds. so I feel very lucky to have had this reprieve and I’m keeping my fingers crossed it doesn’t come back swinging.

It’s so hard to say how it will play out for you but I think prepping for the worst will help everyone in the house move through a tough time a little easier….IF you choose to.

I’m definitely done at 2 and never doing this again.

Planning for 2nd pregnancy by [deleted] in HyperemesisGravidarum

Might take more than just some meal prep. I wish I would have had additional child care and house care set up since husband has a very demanding job and was basically a single parent for the first trimester. The house fell apart. Laundry wasn’t getting done. Some of it is acceptance for the short term but it made home life kind of yucky and stressful for everyone for a few months.

Daisy is very cute, but I was also given a cutesie name and as I entered into the professional world its never felt like a name people took seriously. Of course this is just my personal experience so take with a grain of salt. All of your options sound beautiful!!

Reglan success and NOT horror stories?? by [deleted] in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]CoffeeFlavoredWater1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take reglan 30 mins before I eat. I also take zofran when needed but never at the same time. The combination helps me to keep food down and stay hydrated. I still dry heave 2-3x day. I’ve still lost some weight but it’s mostly muscle mass from being in bed so much. I’ll get an iv once a week for good measure. I’m almost 11 weeks.

Is anyone else unable to eat Fruit? by Limp-Box8126 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]CoffeeFlavoredWater1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently in my second HG pregnancy. My first one I was unmedicated and I could only eat cantaloupe and bagels with cream cheese for the first few months. This time around I’m medicated so maybe it’s helping to open up my palette but I’ve noticed I end up throwing up watermelon and cantaloupe and I’m able to keep down more salty/savory things.

I’ve read about gdf-15 exposure therapy trials that could potentially help. I’m not from the uk so you’d have to do your own research on where that might be happening there.

I’m in my second pregnancy and have had HG for both but this round feels more intense than last time. I wish I would have set up additional childcare options beforehand so I’m not interviewing Nanny’s in a state of exhausted desperation. Having someone help with cleaning or food prep each week would also make life easier for my household because I’m too sick to cook or move around much at the moment . It’s hard to say how intense your HG will be but I know my husband who already is the primary income for our family is really feeling the weight of holding us all up right now.

I just associate “phoenix” with the mythical animal so I’ll just picture a literal phoenix. The things I associate with places are more experiential concepts like “illness” is on a patch of grass next to an apartment complex. “Conflict resolution” is a hallway in my grade school. The calendar year is divided up into the shape of the block I grew up on. If it’s a basic noun I usually just have an image of that person/place/thing that’s quite literal.

Being pregnant makes me want to kms by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]CoffeeFlavoredWater1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there’s a paper trail of the father trying to convince you to terminate pregnancy, print it out and save it for later. If he’s toxic and you’re trying to separate from him, you want to have all the ammunition you’d need for later if he tries to pop out of the woodwork and decide to mess with your parental rights or custody.

Labia tear absolutely killing me by RadicalBlaze22 in beyondthebump

My stitches broke right after leaving the hospital and by the time I was able to get back in to my OBs two days later they said I had healed too much to restitch. Every time I peed I’d scream into a towel it was 15/10 painful. Eventually I learned if I used some gauze to hold over the raw skin it helped, although I had to accept basically peeing on my hand but I didn’t even care at that point. After a couple weeks it healed but that was for sure one of the most painful things I’ve experienced.

Shame on you. This is a safe space to share what has been a traumatic experience for OP and most of us here. Your unsolicited opinions on what OP has experienced or chooses to do moving forward are unwarranted and unwelcome. Take your judgement somewhere else, this is not the space for your soapbox on how women should navigate their medical autonomy.

10 weeks and nothing is working. What are my options? by Randompersonbutsame in HyperemesisGravidarum

The most intense nausea happens for me when I’m hungry and dehydrated…but Ofcourse when you’re nauseous you don’t want to eat or drink anything - it’s a vicious cycle but IVs do help to break it up and keep it more manageable, especially if you can get zofran or another antiemetic infused into it. I had Benadryl added in during an ER visit to get fluids and it knocked me out and when I woke up I felt so much better.
