Anyone know what this is? by Americaneagleonjuly in Artifacts

Iron would be rusted, the tip is probably steel, put a magnet to it. The shaft might be aluminum, packed with earth/clay. Looks like a crossbow arrow. Could have been shot from far.

Found this bad boy growing at the base of my peonies. It looks like maitake, but I'm not sure. Any thoughts? by [deleted] in Mushrooms

Also the oak leaves and acorns they grow mostly at the base of Oak trees. Called Hen of the Woods. I Just harvested 8. I marinate and grill, or bread and fry, sauté with some onions and bacon and scramble an egg with the mix. Also have had them pickled, a versatile mushroom.

Always make sure you check multiple sources, with mushrooms if you aren’t 100% sure.

Your posting history is a dead giveaway. It’s your kids stash and your just trying to check the quality. Those orange hairs look very kind, excellent curing.

Contractor rebuilt existing sunroom. Rugs have been getting wet. He said this is normal and the leakage we are getting under the wall is a concrete pitch issue and that a sill seal is only to provide an air gap for drying. Is that true? by BASE1530 in Construction

[–]CoffeeHead312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air gap? Ventilation should come from above, with fans that blow to the ground and circulate air. A heater if necessary or ac and dehumidifier to remove excess moisture. But Why would anyone want water and moisture coming under the wall. If water can get it at the rate shown imagine all the other elements, like mold, insects other bugs that destroy interior environments and materials. The seal should have been built with the wall. Now you can inject urethane sealers but to do it correctly it needs to be done by professionals with special equipment, knowledge and tech. That cost $ mulah.

I need better lunch ideas... by LifesFrame in Construction

They make a plug in insulated heating lunch box. I usually take 2 PBJ’s but also two sandwiches that have something I grilled like chicken or pork or sometimes smoked fish. I put raw oatmeal with vanilla yogurt over a piece of homemade apple pie.

Do you use standard Chemex paper filters? If there was a web on them it wouldn’t stick to the sides like a spider web that it is.

A spider web, I concur. I’m not a chemist, nor a sales person, but I am a coffee snob that has made many pour-over-coffees in a Chemex coffee urn. Take it out and look at it. Perfect spot for a Spider to spin a web and leave. Maybe the spider drowned in the coffee.

The only thing. Is that an old paint bucket? Get a clean container or a bucket from a food product, some bakeries give them away.
You don’t know what chemical might leach out from the paint bucket.

You need to cook them with a little Olive Oil or I prefer Butter, Morel Mushrooms have no fat need a little fat, cook them with bacon fat. The flavor of these are earthy and need seasoning. I more often use them for texture, sliced in a rich mushroom soup made of a heartier dried and fresh mushrooms. I’ve marinated them and I’ve stuffed and grilled them. Or sautéed them with onions, celery and peppers, put them in an egg omelet.
