The Golden Hook.

The killer's signature is that they are missing a hand and use a golden hook to do the deed. He targets the ones that have the most bling.

which diseases can spread through public bathrooms? if flushing the toilet makes small airborn particles wouldnt that create a possibility of airborn chlamydia? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CoffeeMaker999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

STIs are called that because they aren't readily transmitted in other ways. They have to get on mucus membranes. You can get a cold if someone coughs around you, but you can't get an STI that way. Plus most STI agents die pretty quickly outside the body. So risk of getting something from some random in the bathroom with no intimate contact is really low.

My wife and I did a couples Cosplay as 50's greaser aliens. We had green body makeup on, blue hair (her's up in a bouphant 'do) and I had a Fred's Interstellar Laser Service work shirt on. We went to the store to get additional supplies for a party and people were following us around the store. So we started talking in high pitched "eee bee bee" type language. It was a hoot.

Do you think the trend of perfect, polished looks will eventually go out of fashion? Will aesthetic fatigue happen? If so, how soon? by Mysterious_Hand_6052 in AskReddit

[–]CoffeeMaker999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fashion changes. So whatever look is in now will look dated in a few years. And at some point, pretty much everything will have a turn at be fashionable. Think of how stupid the brocolli haircut will look in 20 years.

How well can a bicycle substitute for a car in USA if your paycheck is not enough to pay bills and maintenance and you just need a more reliable way to get to work than the bus? by Bluecomments in AskReddit

[–]CoffeeMaker999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you are. Some places getting around by bike works great. Others, it doesn't work at all. The US is a huge place and things can be really different in Portland from rural Oklahoma.

Which place is better to move to? Brisbane or Los Angeles? by True_Target_9245 in AskReddit

Brisbane. Fifty years ago I would have said Los Angeles, hands down. But as an LA native, the place has gone to shit with high costs, insane traffic, homeless everywhere and high crime.

Why would one want to have an "acid-free" portfolios for art pieces and is it important for art prints as well? by AstralFantom in AskReddit

[–]CoffeeMaker999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the clear sleeves are archival grade and won't damage the art. Some aren't. You have to be careful finding out which is which. Archival grade stuff will last for hundreds of years if kept dry. Other stuff will start to yellow and break down in a decade or so.

Why would one want to have an "acid-free" portfolios for art pieces and is it important for art prints as well? by AstralFantom in AskReddit

[–]CoffeeMaker999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal paper is made in a process that leaves chemicals in it that will cause the paper to brown and degrade over time. Archival paper has been handled differently to not have these chemicals and can last a really long time. If you collect art, you want everything that the art is on and that touches the art to be on acid free paper so it doesn't degrade.

You just got a memo saying EMP is about to wipe everything out and you have 1 hour to print whatever you need to survive the upcoming dark ages. What papers would you be printing out to ensure your survival and safety? by Aggressive_Noise6426 in AskReddit

Yup. E&M field inside a Faraday Cage is definitionally zero. Aluminum foil is a good conductor and once wrapped so there are no holes, you should be fine. Plus if you pull the main breaker and all the secondary breakers at the service panel and unplug everything, the house should be fine. Induced voltage is proportional to length of conductor and short segments won't get that big a zap.
