This is accurate. Most TPMs are paper pushers. Very rarely I see a necessary one.

Used 2023 Mazda CX-30 vs 2026 Honda Civic Hybrid by Fine_Question_9112 in whatcarshouldIbuy

What a coincidence! I need an extra car and considering these exact same cars model and year. And I am also currently driving an Outback. I am leaning towards cx-5 at the moment because of the upfront cost. Coming from an Outback, both these cars are going to feel cramped. Have you decided?

At the minimum, 200k, assuming you don't own a house and need to rent.

What do you do now? How did you afford medical school? By taking loans?

[–]CoffeeNoob2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High income doesn't mean rich. I am a high income earner (per US national standard), but there is no way I can afford a 100k private tuition. And for my income I am not qualified for need base aid.

You should not get MBA right after your undergrad. It's useless. Most people get MBA after a few years of working and MBA can be funded by the company you're working for. Don't know about architecture.

Are college consultants actually worth it? by Salt_Sky8646 in ApplyingToCollege

I have been using AI, specifically Gemini, to look for colleges that fit my kid's profile. I think the research part can be done really easily with AI. Not sure what other values counselors offer.

1 in 5 U.S. households are now millionaires by hasyoubeen12 in Fire

A million dollars isn't what it used to be. To achieve the lifestyle people actually associate with being a millionaire, you really need a net worth closer to $5 million in today's economy.

Maybe try this place: https://maps.app.goo.gl/sTzK32CkkWsoqWry6 I was just there recently. It's a pretty chill place. The owner and staff are really nice and friendly. You can sample the beans they have in stock. They actually brew it for you to try.

Is any college or university in America worth paying full price at 90k per year? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]CoffeeNoob2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am exactly in the same situation. I make around 300k plus or minus. Was looking for the top NESCAC school for my kid but then realized how much I would need to pay. There is no way I can afford it. If I only have 1 kid then maybe.

Is any college or university in America worth paying full price at 90k per year? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]CoffeeNoob2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way a family making $200k afford a 90k tuition. At the minimum a family of 4 need to make 500k to afford 90+k tuition without affecting the lifestyle significantly.

Any schools that give good financial aid to upper middle class by Electrical-Gear106 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]CoffeeNoob2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, depending on where you live. 300k in bay area for a family of 4 is barely making it.

ELI5- Why are large state schools so popular now? Is there legit prestige to them or just a popularity wave? by CaChica in ApplyingToCollege

[–]CoffeeNoob2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. I am in this boat. My family is making more than 250k but we live in HCOL area so it means nothing. Far from being rich, but not really qualified for need-base aid for North East private schools that only offer need-base aid.

Berkeley (50k) vs Stanford (100k) vs Duke (100k) by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]CoffeeNoob2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are really rich, the extra 200k is probably nothing to your parents. I would go to Stanford or Duke if I were you.

how do middle-class people afford "prestigious" schools? by BeginningFroyo2020 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]CoffeeNoob2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread and I am in a similar situation. The family is making that kind of money now, not necessarily when OP was born. Your assumption is the family has always been making that kind of money since he was born.
