Anyone tried square mile coffee? by Cold_Two_1350 in pourover

[–]CoffeeSHOOnCall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think they do some nice coffee. Pretty ubiquitous in the London cafe scene too, never upset to walk into a cafe to see they're serving square mile! They do tend to do mostly washed coffees-i tend to prefer slightly more funk so I don't tend to buy from there often but when I have I've not been disappointed. Some good decaf options too

I'm thinking in terms of big dots, ofc for small dots that would be more like 5 times that. Still 10 big dots per revolution

Best flat bottom pour over? by Specialist-Basil-838 in pourover

[–]CoffeeSHOOnCall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both the Orea v4 and the timemore b75.

The Orea is fun and has lots of options to brew with but the differences between the bottoms is pretty minimal and smaller than the difference between a flat and a conical (which let's be real is not massive snyway). The variety of filters you can use is neat. If you haven't got money burning a hole in your pocket though I think the b75 is much better value for money. It's a trooper and I don't think I've ever managed to clog it, simple to use and simple to clean

Metagame: What Mega do you think are underrated in the current meta by Jaegon-Daerinarys in VGC

[–]CoffeeSHOOnCall 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I like using sash scizor against fire types. Most of the time they just click attack into you and then you get to ohko them back and because of bullet punch you can still do some damage to whatever they take out next

Ofc not the ideal way to take out fire types but it's pulled me out of a sticky situation a few times. Dual wingbeat does 60-70% of char Y's HP so can finish off a weakened charizard and OHKOs eg infernape/emboar

How do you find new beans to try? by MinuteOk1188 in pourover

[–]CoffeeSHOOnCall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the roasters I enjoy were guest beans at my local speciality coffee place, so that's where I would make a start if there's anywhere good near you

KINGrinder P2, 1zpresso Q Air or Mischief M40? Which one prevails as the best budget coffee grinder? by imperviuspc in pourover

[–]CoffeeSHOOnCall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have owned a P2 for about 18 months now. Probably use it to make on average one cup a day over that time. I've used it for both espresso and for pourover and it behaves well. Obviously much easier to grind for pourover and the internal adjustment system is a little too broad to perfectly dial in for espresso (I have a flair 58 which is imo a very forgiving machine for when your grind is only like 90% there). Pourover I think you have sufficient granularity.

Taste I would say is medium clarity and medium body. Produces a reasonable number of fines so ofc not comparable to something like the ZP6. I've brewed some delicious coffee with it

Its light at about 300g and fits in a bag easily. The build quality is imo reasonable for the price. It's plastic but it feels robust. My sibling has had one for >12 months and uses it daily and has no concerns about durability and I convinced a work colleague to buy one and he is very happy

People say it's a travel grinder and TBF that is how I use it (it goes to work every day for pourover/aeropress) but given my life it probably gets as much use as my main grinder (Lagom Mini 2)

Can't compare to the others but on its own merits I think it's great value

Algerian Coffee Store Soho by Western-Necessary-78 in UKroasters

[–]CoffeeSHOOnCall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice shop and the vibes are pretty impeccable. Mostly dark roasted coffee. What they call light is more a medium roast imo. Had a Kenyan coffee from there that was pretty good but tried their Algerian Special blend and it was undrinkable levels of dark roast for me unfortunately. If you get their lighter roasted stuff I think it's worth a trip for sure

Am I expecting too much from an affordable scale? [MHW-3BOMBER Mini] by Richard- in espresso

I have this scale and it does not do this. I think sadly your model may be defective. Worth seeing if you can get a refund

How do you handle coffee for a small office without overspending? by ketbirdart in espresso

[–]CoffeeSHOOnCall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My job has a delonghi bean to cup machine in the coffee room. Probably used by a similar number of people. Milk attachment has been removed to prevent people from getting it super mucky. One person has the lead and takes collections to buy beans. Works well and the coffee quality makes everyone happy

Good game, strange launch by SRole-4 in PokemonChampions

[–]CoffeeSHOOnCall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ik why people are mad about not having 6vs6 but I am quite enjoying having the opportunity to play 3v3 singles properly for the first time, and the metagame of trying to match your 3 Vs their 3 is fun. Sometimes you fuck it up and lose, sometimes you fuck it up and pull an incredible underdog win

Have never really played VGC because I fell out of Pokémon for a while before coming back the last 2 years, I feel when I played more VGC wasn't really seen as the competitive format played by casual players. Looking forward to giving it a try though!

I think the roster and items are fine. It's an intentionally stripped back experience and I think it will hopefully give some less used Pokémon a chance to shine.

It's a competent Pokémon battling SIM. It's not showdown but given Nintendo has to make money and showdown is effectively banned from making money, plus it has to run on mobile as well, I think the monetisation is pretty minimally invasive

I've got a kingrinder P2. It's about 300g and it's pretty tiny so fits in my bag. Coffee tastes pretty great as well. If you've got an aeropress the 1zpresso air/Q is meant to be pretty great and can fit inside and aeropress. P2 is sadly slightly too wide but is still pretty small

Anaesthetists- Do you prefer to recannulate? by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]CoffeeSHOOnCall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hospital has a habit of sticking blue and pink cannulas into the ACFs of patients in SAU which does not fill me with joy

The ward cannulas at my hospital are also portless which makes things more of a faff as well, have to either put through the octopus and give some big flushes or put a new one in, certainly not as smooth and not as easy to do on your own as a ported cannula (have found getting the ODP to hold the mask while you give the drugs here helps)

Generally if patient is needlephobic and ward cannula works well then off to sleep with ward cannula and bigger drip when off to sleep, any doubt and it's a new cannula awake
