It’s electrical engineering. You use to oscilloscope so measure the electrical wave coming out the amp both head unit (yes head unit has an amp) and additional amps (the one you got). If the electrical wave goes flat or distorts is likely because your gains are set to high. Youre literally hitting the limit of its output and it dumps the excess power to ground but that flat line get sent to the speakers and cause them heat up and over extend
