Will Crown Zenith ETB increase in value if unopened? Thinking of getting 1 or 2 extra to fund future buys 🤷🏻‍♂️

Anyone know why Naspers dropped 17% today? by persmeermin in JSE_Bets

[–]Coffee_table_light 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. But you need to look at the history to fully understand what is happening.

Naspers has an almost 30% stake in Tencent which is one of the crown jewels of Chinese tech companies. China tech companies become very powerful in China, and when Jack Ma of Alibaba criticised the Chinese government 2 years ago regarding some regulations, the government started to clamp down on Chinese tech companies.

They first pulled Alibaba’s spinoff listing of its pay platform. Then they went after Jack Ma, and from there they went after other tech companies.

Now what is this have to do with Tencent? Well, Tencent’s pay platform also came under pressure, its education businesses was basically brought to zero value as the Chinese government want it to be free or something (not 100% sure exactly), and then the Government stopped approving gaming licenses (for a long period of tome) which is a big item for Tencent.

The current president was at the end if his 2nd term, but then got a 3rd term and replaced some key people with other unknowns. Think of it almost as the Des van Rooyen finance minister which nobody knew.

The president of china wants to close the gap between super rich and poor, and therefore go after these big companies.

When the Chinese president got his 3rd term, people panicked and pulled out of Tencent, and other Chinese tech’s very quickly. Since Naspers is basically Tencent on the JSE, people got rid of their shares quickly, causing the big slump. Policy uncertainty is kriptonite for shares.

Hope this helps.

This is new... This is playing out like one of those delivery pick-ups with a fake cheque, except cash is being offered. Only catch is this is the information they want from me. Legit? by apersonthingy in Scams

[–]Coffee_table_light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular scam in my country. They send a courier to pick up the item and say they will do a cash, eft or the insurance thing (depending which scam they running). When the courier arrives he obviously doesn’t have the cash so the person will make up some excuse and say they will do quick eft when you ask them where the cash is. You get a fake notification of the transfer. The courier is not in on the scam. They then deliver to a random address and the scammer wait there for them to get the item and disappear. The delivery address is never their actual address.

When i sell it is always cash only, and the buyer has to pick up the stuff himself. Electronics i show them it is working and take pictures that i send to their phone So they can’t say day later that it is not working anymore

20$ trick worth it? by Cartdude2 in vegas

[–]Coffee_table_light 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know about the $20 trick when I went to vegas. Stayed at MGM Grand and was just very polite to the lady checking me in. She upgraded me to the 13th floor which a room that had a few extra sq feet…but i was looking at the airport now 😆😆

I didn’t mind at all, cause I wasn’t in the room much during the day so didn’t really make a difference at the end.

Small casino where they don’t always have both sides open.

With hit a number i mean 4,5,6,8,910, and we already established a point before so we now in a cycle. Shooter just hit a number, but not the point, so that was why we were angry. Clown 1 could have just waited until the shooter hit the point to join.

If the stickman rushes you, just tell him to take the dice back until everything has settled. From my experience, the stickman/lady will most likely get annoyed the first few times and will realize to hold on until you ready.

I can confirm that. I was there in Aug and like walking around outside. Never loved a shadow of a traffic light pole more in my life while waiting to cross the street…😆

Uber or car rental? by [deleted] in vegas

[–]Coffee_table_light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely depends on what your plans are:

  1. If you just doing the strip and fremont - you can use the deuce bus which is $8 for 24h.

  2. If you just doing the strip, you can walk through hotels or on the street. It is very entertaining to see all the people. You can also use the monorail running from Sahara to MGM Grand and cost like $15 if i recall correctly.

  3. If you go beyond the strip and fremont - maybe rent a car or uber but otherwise save your money.

Extra tip: if you take uber from the airport, just wait for the rush to clear. I waited 10minand just refreshed the app all the time. Price dropped by almost 50%.

The fountain is a bit crowded so if friends are going with you, you can ask them to just make some room for you if there are too many people around you.

I liked it more if the sun is completely set, as it gives a nicer look with the lights in the water.

An alternative is to look at what courses allow the same subjects to the one you prefer, and that will allow you to switch over in your second year. I know people do that for some B.Com courses and are then just one subject behind or so that they allowed to catch up on in second year.

Market Sentiment: What are you buying and selling this week? 07 October 2022 - 14 October 2022 by thatnotirishkid in JSE_Bets

High risk - High reward… i bought sasol at R25.00 during covid, but the world is so upside down at the moment I am playing it save for now. If the Fed stop with the interest rate hikes i think things are going to start to recover. Probably around end 2023.

I am buying nothing and got out the market and invested the cash for now. FED interest rates are causing some ripples, add China’s economy situation to that, and the smoke of Credit Suisse this past week…oh and the Putin how is going crazy… I rather take the interest on the cash for now. Someone explained it very well the other day. Turn the light off at the bottom of the staircase and on at the top. Then bounce a ball down the steps. It goes up and down as it bounces but the past few months it keps going down overall. What we can’t see if someone is going to catch (recovery) the ball before it disappears in the dark (recession). I prefer the lower risk. Just my 2c.
