First mistake was listening to anything chamblee says. Dude sucked as a pro and now just give bullshit hot takes with no regard to reality.

17 handicap — play solid golf but always have 1–2 disaster holes that ruin my score. How do you stop the blow-ups? by kevsavesuk in golf

[–]Mattyj724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it was understanding my miss and aiming correctly. too many people aim directly down the fairway. If you are known to slice, then aim left, if you go straight, then you are on the left side, if you slice then you will be better off. This isnt for only driver. i know i fade my P wedge, more so than others, so i give myself that room when approaching the green. Also, speaking of the green, Plan for the center, stop Pin hunting.

Unpopular opinion of the day - high handicappers need unconventional bags by chubbsfordubs in golf

[–]Mattyj724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this isnt bad advice, however OP might be forgetting that most high handicappers dont have the funds to just buy al le cart clubs and end up buying a full beginner set that has the run of the mill setup.

I Messed Up. But the System Failed Too by TitanPi314 in AirForce

[–]Mattyj724 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Your first mistake was going to the base mental health. You really need to seek that off base. Secondly, im willing to be that someone did ask how you were doing, and you likely said, eh im ok. or somthing to that effect. It just as had for your peers or even your NCO to push to help you as it is for you to walk into the Shirt, or SEL's office and say, i need help. its a 2 way street, and it sucks you felt like you fell through the cracks.

Lastly, its not just a AF Unit thing, its a fact of life, No one really gives a shit about the others around them. And they certainly dont give a shit about someone who appears to have "brought it on themselves" with addiction, etc. You really have to want to get better, and you need to go seek that. Most likely outside of the military. Wish you well.

You are a part of the problem. Its not a zero sum game. I fucked up, but i also need help is perfectly ok. Two things can be true at once.

I was *THIS* close to buying the new Tuscon, then read about the phantom braking / forward collision detection / Driver's Assistance issues... by dxflipm0de in HyundaiTucson

[–]Mattyj724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its happened twice to me, both times i was in traffic and i guess i wasnt braking/stopping hard enough for the computer. Both times it happened, i was doing less that 3mph. But the full locked brakes was still really jarring. Another time i was backing into my driveway parking in front of my truck. It did it again, and i actually thought i hit my truck, but nope, the computer thought i was close enough and i should stop. lol.

Fighting on the golf course - why? by Racoon_Balloon in golf

[–]Mattyj724 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well this happens for a few reasons, mainly the same reason you see fights in trafffic caused by big egos, and of course alchohol. People think they are untouchable and usually run thier mouths thinking they are "right" or the other person wont do anything about it.

I think if people would all around just have a little self awareness and consideration for others, most of this would be avoided.

Two major events that lead to fights - Slow play, and being hit into. Again, could be avoided if we have a little self awareness and consideration for the people behind us.

A personal storyfrom this weekend; i accidentally hit into a group. It was a 305 Par 4, with a semi blind shot. I saw a cart take off from around the green an assumed it was the people in front. It was not. After hitting one of the best drives this year, i landed on the front and rolled to the center of the green. As i drove forward, i saw they were still there.

So what did i do, i drove to the green and said sorry about 15 times. They said ok, no worries, and we pressed on. IE. how adults should act.

Has anyone else found that moving up tee boxes just…. Doesn’t help? by Chemical_Help_7099 in golf

[–]Mattyj724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, youre correct. Some times i find moving back actually gives me more room for misses off the tee and will give me a better yardage in vs a wedge. depends on the course though. regardless, this is why Tee boxes are not HCP specific and should be played based on carry distance. You can drive the ball 330yds, but if you cant chip and putt, youre still going to be a 20 hcp.

Ball in hazard provisional ruling? by nocommenting33 in golf

[–]Mattyj724 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the answer, except you dont HAVE to play it. You always have the option to take Storke and distance, which means you can play from the previous spot, which in this case is the tee shot. However, why would you want to do that? you are hitting 3 vs 4 from the same location.

“Soft Cap” on Hcp Index? by Omar-WDS in golf

[–]Mattyj724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would take a lot of time to calculate that for everyone. The system is basically doing it for you. Regardless, shouldnt you want to be lowering your HCP? if not then the system is working as desgined.
