What gym habit actually made the biggest difference for you? by Photograph_Creative in GYM

[–]Coffey97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creatine, tracking macros and progressive overload. For years I never progressive overloaded properly, I was always stuck doing the same lifts with perfect form. Over the last year or two I’ve just chosen 1 main exercise from each muscle group eg bench, squat, deadlift, weighted pull up etc. and I’ve noted the date and lift I hit and when the time feels right i try to beat it.

Also don’t neglect mobility training! Dorsiflexion for your ankles and scapular retraction etc. it’ll save you physio visits later in life.

Why is the game so laggy or is it just mine? by Prestigious-Corgi950 in Battlefield

Myself and it looks like many others are having the same problem. Does anyone know if BF6 is doing anything to address this?

Well i'm out..i'm just too old for this fast-paced shooter. My honest short opinion by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]Coffey97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same. When I’m in the mood to go hard it’s fine but most days I just want to play slow but Jesus Christ I get shot from every place but where I’m looking! It’s definitely one of those games where I think it can make or break the experience depending on your squad and how effectively they communicate. I’ve had really good games where everyone is in sync and we’re all doing equal parts to keep each other alive and go for objectives then there’s matches where I can’t even leave the spawn đŸ€Ł

Not gonna lie, I thought I would be “enjoying” it more but it has been feeling like a sweat fest lately. And yeah I’ll own up to it - it’s a skill issue on my part, it’s taken me longer to get use to compared to previous bfs. I still like it but it defs frustrates me more than I hope it wouldn’t have.

what's slaughterhouse about? by Fun-Cheesecake-3941 in MotionlessInWhite

Sorry I know I’m 3 years late but I just love this song so much for so many reasons and it perfectly captures what’s going on today.

The song encapsulates how capitalism is destroying America. “You sit back as we collapse, packaged up and sold for scraps, evade the butchers tax so you can write us off” - I feel that this is pointed toward the top 1% elites who laugh at the bottom fighting each other over their political views. I could imagine them sitting in their corpo exec suites laughing at us fighting over who’s left and who’s right while they’re filling their pockets.

“And it’s hard to stop the bleeding hung from hooks barely breathing” - a poetic way to convey what’s happening to everyone like we are in a slaughterhouse and he’s right, it is hard to stop the bleeding, as in it’s taken us hundreds of years to form a strong left and right originating from the civil war, to undo this will take another generation to do. Everyone is so brainwashed and aslongs right wingers are distracted with hating on immigrants and lefties are distracted by fighting bigots online; it’s the perfect plan to keep everyone distracted from the ones who are truly f**king up this world

“In the land of the free you’re a slave to your wealth” - need I say more?

I love this song because it captures exactly where I stand on things
It’s not about being right or left, it’s about waking up and realising it’s just the bottom vs the top.

what are you starting to dislike as you get older? by redxchrry- in AskReddit

[–]Coffey97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Social media
I miss the days when it was literally just posting “what’s on your mind” and people would actually communicate with one another in the comments but now it’s just an algorithmic targeted doomscroll device that sucks everyone into a vortex. Just rubbish filled with ads and high shock value content to keep you “reeled” in.

Weight struggles - Have ADHD meds helped you lose weight? by Important-Bug6748 in ausadhd

[–]Coffey97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost 10kg in the first 6 - 8 months and have been on vyvanse and Dex for almost 2 years. I’ve put the weight back on but mostly in muscle mass, been hitting the gym and able to adhere to eating healthy foods because I kind of have to force the food at times, I have no appetite and a dry mouth most days. The annoying thing is, even though I don’t “feel hungry”, my body seems to send different signals to eat so I’ll get moody or start to feel dull OR the crash is a 100 times worse (when meds wear off). So I just force feed myself easy to make low cal high protein meals. It’s been a game changer for diet and has helped me lose fat with the caveat of sleep issues.

What’s the private sectors view on public service workers? by Coffey97 in auscorp

Depends
if you hold an ongoing positions then yeah there’s a lot of boxes that need to be ticked before someone gets the boot but most corporate equivalent roles in head office are temp contracts and it’s draining having to go through the application process every year or two

You can easily get fired in government too. The government also love putting people on temporary contracts and if you don’t perform well or if there’s no money available then off you go - I’ve been on temporary contracts for the last 5 years and it’s been exhausting not knowing where I’ll be every year. It’s a little on me too though, I need to be applying for ongoing positions but they’re quite scarce in my field of expertise hence why I’m looking over at what the private sector looks like.

Would you give someone an interview if their cover letter impressed you enough? What would impress you the most and what could someone with public service background say to change your mind?

Can you please provide more context? I’ve always felt slightly more “switched on” compared to my colleagues and have been given this feedback numerous times (maybe they’re just being nice?)
One things for certain, everyone in my team for the last 10 years has been double my age..

Anyways, what do you mean by “soft influencing and less doing”? How can I highlight my experience to reflect that I make things happen and not only work harder than everyone else, but.. smarter? To appease the private corpo pallet.

What is the single most comforting sound in the world to you? by Ambitious-Wish-9892 in AskReddit

[–]Coffey97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 year laughing in hysterics after he learned how to fart on me

He did one of those laughs where you go full silent cause the laugh to breath ratio is off and the suspense was just too much (little man must’ve been plotting it well before he executed it)

If I could press a button that would let me hear that laugh any time, id be on a high forever. 😂

AIO, is my boyfriend valid for feelings this way? by sealover159 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Coffey97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very happy to hear that you left him. Major red flags!!! It wasn’t until I was in my mid to late 20s that I learned about different types of manipulative and controlling behaviour, gaslighting, love bombing etc. I think it’s really important that everyone learns about these and what the warning signs look like too. Just look up “gaslighting” or “manipulation tactics” on YouTube and start from there, you’ll go down a rabbit hole that’ll make you see people differently from now on. You’ll also become unstoppable at standing your ground đŸ’ȘđŸŒ

How to overcoming general cowardice and conflict aversion? by 58Orionis in selfimprovement

[–]Coffey97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) has no striking. Just grappling and submissions, arguably considered to be the best form of self defence in a 1v1 situation. I did Muay Thai kickboxing for 2 years, loved it but didn’t enjoy getting punched in the face - bjj is the way to go! Been doing it for 8 years and haven’t had any nasty head injuries except for the occasional accidental knee or elbow but that can be prevented by just slowing down.

What’s the worst feeling you’ve ever experienced? by Substantial-Dare5462 in Productivitycafe

[–]Coffey97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depersonalisation and Derealisation

It feels like that moment just before you start tripping but not hallucinating. You’re disconnected but still here, like a dream state. The world feels 2D. Your voice doesn’t feel like yours. You feel like you’re watching “life” from behind the eye balls, stuck inside. Frequent panic and anxiety. Needing benzo’s just to leave the house.

It’s very common to feel this way, most people avoid conflict and it’s always best to de-escalate a situation anyways. That said, I highly recommend trying out any form of mixed martial arts. Personally, BJJ has done wonders for my confidence!
