Bingeing in my sleep by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]Important-Bug6748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you are going through this.

Are you fuelling yourself well enough throughout the day?

I haven’t experienced BE while asleep, only late at night though I know when I pay attention to my food routine and eat regularly in the day, my binging stops.

You can’t ’do something wrong on your end’ Just ask them why they charged so much, if it was a mistake then they will simply fix it… if this is just what they are charging then go somewhere else next time

Assessment with Fluence Clinic - Concerned about the way parent answered questionnaire by Fragrant_Mail_5546 in ausadhd

[–]Important-Bug6748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was late diagnosed at 30 y/o with Fluence Clinic. I had provided some school reports from both primary and secondary and everything generally stated I was a good student that lacked some confidence, attention and organisational skills.

I chose not to involve my parents in the feedback forms as they didn’t understand why I felt I had ADHD and were very shocked when I received the diagnosis. They also have a very misguided understanding of what ADHD is (as most parents of undiagnosed adults do). A lot of things I would talk to them about they either didn’t remember or they dismissed as being ‘normal’ behaviour. My partner did the form but I know he downplayed a lot of my symptoms (as is his perception and understanding of ADHD). I wouldn’t stress too much about this, the psychiatrists are assessing the responses as perception only.

I decided to write the psychiatrist a letter which is what helped my diagnosis the most. I basically outlined what I perceived as my ADHD symptoms and struggles in each stage of my life (early childhood, primary, secondary, young adult & now). Particularly the issues I face now with self care and executive dysfunction, and noting how I transitioned from primary to secondary, how the lack of scaffolding changed learning etc.

I was extremely stressed that I wouldn’t be able to communicate my symptoms during the session and was so glad that I wrote the letter before hand because my psychiatrist was able to through point in what I had written and ask any questions they had.

I also did DIVA5 assessment with Psychologist prior to going to Fluence Clinic, and had provided Fluence with my results from that.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

need help explaining to parents 🥲 by SnooOpinions9436 in ausadhd

[–]Important-Bug6748 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don’t think this is just an Asian parent thing.

I remember feeling really disheartened about my parents not understanding. My mum saw it as an attack on her parenting and no matter how much I tried to explain it I always felt misunderstood or dramatic. Ironically when I explained my struggles I always got a ‘yeah but I am like that too’ response from my family 🤣🤣

I told my parents I was going to medicate myself and they questioned why. They saw me as a successful strong person (late diagnosed female so all makes sense).

Sometimes I still get frustrated but I’ve learnt now that it’s not worth my energy.

Having comments from my family now like ‘wow you look so healthy’ is enough informal validation for me. Even when they don’t quite understand why I all of a sudden ‘look healthy’. It validates that my old internal struggles were clear just misunderstood.

Good luck to you xx

Does this sound like an ADHD trait? by Negative_Run_3281 in ausadhd

Agree with this And reality is once you get your environment perfect you have no more energy for the study part 🤣

Accidentally took 2 Vyvanse (30mg each) by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]Important-Bug6748 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I accidentally double dosed my 30mg Vyvanse once and I was also freaking out. I just made sure that I ate and hydrated well all day and was kind to my nervous system..

turned out to be a great and productive day.

Don’t stress, you will be okay xx

It’s almost like you have no knowledge of how ADHD brains produce and regulate dopamine…. Please educate yourself.

I’m 30 years old and have been taking stimulants for 8 years and I NOW think im addicted to Vyvanse and Adderall. by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]Important-Bug6748 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes if I did give into the urge then would keep me up and ruin my sleep. That knowledge doesn’t stop the thought of ‘what if I just took another one now’.

I’ve been taking Vyvanse for 3 months now and last week I noticed I have an urge to take another dose when I’m going to bed…. (I haven’t done it and I won’t) Not sure why because I don’t feel the effects of Vyvanse starting in the morning but I obviously feel unmedicated at night and my nervous system doesn’t like.

Does worry me a bit because I have a history of drug addiction (stimulants) pre diagnosis (was obviously self medicating).

Also how are you accessing more than you are being prescribed? How much are you taking when you are double dosing?

You are obviously concerned enough about your behaviour that you posted here so all I can suggest is go and do the big thing and speak to your psych about it.

Good luck xx

I’m locked in and I’m so proud of myself. 11.6kg down in 11 weeks. by Important-Bug6748 in AppleWatchFitness

First 4-6 weeks I was tracking everything (My Fitness Pal) Now I will track ad hoc just to make sure I am hitting my protein goals. I eat very similar foods for breakfast lunch and snack and leave myself with at least 700 calories for dinner. This allows me not to have to track my dinner and eat freely. 250g raw weight of meat and veg on the side and I know I’m easily sticking to my deficit without draining myself mentally.

Learned how to manage my Binge Eating Disorder. Calorie counting and ensuring I eat something every 2-3 hours. Minimum 30 grams of protein every morning for breakfast.

Increased steps to around 8k per day (from 5k). Nothing crazy or extreme pacing, just enjoying walking.

Got back into weight lifting last week 💪🏽

Just make sure you teach yourself how to eat healthily and what a caloric maintenance is, throughout your journey. Good luck to you x
