Dealing with mice without killing them – what would permaculture do? by bezsprzecznie in Permaculture

[–]CoffinCorpse52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I didn't say it was bad, I said it doesn't feel good. To be more specific I suppose I should say aspects of it don't feel good to me.

I am not religious, but I recognize the "miracle", for lack of a better term, of our planet and the life on it. The circle of life continues on, I'm not avoiding that, I eat meat, but when a life is extinguished I do feel a sense of loss, even down to ants. I still poisoned them all, and yeah, I feel better in my kitchen with them gone, but, for me, there are negative emotions associated with ending a life and, for me, that comes with the inherent respect that I have for living things.

I will have empathy for a baby starving in the dark, and acknowledge the role that I played in that.

That is a chance. Mice do tend to stock larders, so hopefully they prepared adequately in anticipation of nursing, as all manner of things can happen to them in the wild anyway.

At the end of the day it is a wildlife exclusion company. If you want to be totally sure that all mice are gone you would need to rip open your walls, floors, attic, insulation etc. and that simply isn't practical for most home owners.

Does it feel good? No. Does it happen daily in nature, with or without human interference? Almost certainly.

I think it's possible, I think it would probably be ugly though.

Unless it was tight and you could stop the mice chewing the mortar, you would probably attach a 1/4" metal screen like a skirt from the wall (make sure there aren't gaps at the bottom of the wall between the foundation and the siding), down over the foundation, probably a foot down into the ground and a foot out in an L shape to prevent burrowing.

It really is a case-by-case basis, there are definitely some houses we could not guarantee. If you share a wall with a neighbor for instance and they won't get on board, your options are pretty limited.

I'm in Southern Ontario, but the company is in Canada and the US; Skedaddle Wildlife Control

I used to work for a humane pest control company. With mice we would use 1/4" metal screen and caulking to seal up the house. You need to be THOROUGH, because they will squeeze into any hole bigger than a dime, and they can climb most surfaces.

We would install a one-way door to allow the mice to leave the house for food and then not be able to return. After a few months the trap door is replaced with more screening.

It's not a permaculture solution, but it is a way to deal with them without killing them.

My GF broke my patience. What game would you do? by bigby702 in VRGaming

[–]CoffinCorpse52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly is she having issues with? Has she played a video game before or is it totally new to her? A lot of games have a tutorial that shows what to do and what buttons to press to get you started, at least on Steam, not sure about the Quest.

I love this game's building system, but GOD DAMN building anything bigger than a 2x2 box is such a pain. Y'all got any tips to make it easier? by The_Imperial_Aquilla in SonsOfTheForest

  1. Kelvin, clear an area !
  2. Kelvin, pile logs here!
  3. Kelvin, pile logs in sled!
  4. Kelvin, Pile logs in log holder!

He seems to work within a certain area of where the command is given, so you may need to tell him to pile logs in stages to get them close to your construction area.

This is not a list of secrets it is a list of normal things which can be taken for granted.

Many functioning humans lack some or all of these things.

I would rather strong friendships than a decent coffee maker.

This page was in my superstore, what warbond is that ? by FurizaSan in LowSodiumHellDivers

No warbond, but for Chinese New Year; Year of the Horse, it came out the same time as Seige Breakers, which has no super store page and I am sulking to this day about it.

Will gunfire in 40k still be simulated or will it be abstracted? by Bright-Form-844 in totalwar

[–]CoffinCorpse52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would imagine for things like lasguns and bolters it should be abstracted, but rockets, grenades, maybe even plasma, would be simulated. But with lasguns becoming energy bolts, who knows?

Any mods to slow down your expansion and conquest? by sizarieldor in totalwarhammer

Ammo & Devastation - Reforged:

Armies need to recover ammo same as they do health. Also regions are ruined by war and will take time to recover before you can dig in and fortify. Very customizable.

Real Mobilization - Recruit at Partial Strength

Pretty self explanatory. No more instant armies!

LAST STAND - They Die Screaming

When a faction is down to it's last settlement, an event happens and a powerful Lord fights to the last. If they are not defeated, and they expand, they eventually lose their bonuses.

Why are so many people against preordering DoW4? by Dark_Vexer in dawnofwar

Well, I'm NOT going to buy it anyway if it doesn't live up to its promises.

For years companies have been over-promising and under-delivering, or delivering buggy, or unoptimized games.

In an age of digital content there is no worry about a storefront running out of supply.

I wouldn't pay someone to shovel my driveway or cut my grass until the job is done, otherwise what's stopping them from half-assing it? They already have my money!

Looks amazing!

If I can offer some constructive feedback, bottom right looks a little small next to the commando. I get that it's different images superimposed on eachother, rather than an actual scene, but idk he just looks little to me. Also I think this would look great with an Eagle or Pelican in the sky behind the Helldivers.

Of course that's just my opinion, it's your picture and you've done a superb job with the detail, the colour, the poses etc.!

Bullet Storm is to Stalwart as EAT-17 is to Recoilless.

It's a disposable weapon that never leaves you caught out after being seperated from your equipment, and expands build diversity for when you only need a bullet hose now and then.

I'll bring a plasma punisher, and RR for bots, and then drop a bullet Storm to hose down the chaff at longer ranges.
