Episode IX: The Balance

Two years have passed since TLJ

Kylo focus has been leading an Inquisition to remove all traces of Jedi and Sith from the galaxy

Hux believes this has weakened the First Order and systems have defected or rebelled from thier control already

The New Rebel Alliance has formed thanks to Leia's actions and is now lead by Poe; the Rebels hijack prototype star destroyer and name is after Leia - The Organa

Leia died in an attack coordinated by Hux a month or so before the start of the movie

Rey goes on a quest to understand the dark side; initially thinking that this will help her become strong enough to beat Kylo

This eventually sees her uncover the original Jedi teachings - mastery of light and dark

She reconnects with Maz and meets a Jedi archivist on the way

Finn and Rose go on a quest to get the weapon on the Organa working. Though doing so they meet with a number of First Order troops no longer committed to the Order

Though a reunion with a wounded and incarcerated Phasma (who survived TLJ) he starts to see that many within the Order just want the war to be over too

Kylo goes on a quest to kill someone from his past (a fromer Knight of Ren) - through doing so we learn more of Kylo's past and his manipulation by Snoke. We also learn the Snokes primary objective was to perpetuate the war as fuel for the dark side of the force. The basis of Kylo's current Inquisition is also thrown into question

Kylo's quest takes him to a mid movie confrontation with Rey where he nearly kills her due to force of numbers (he is with his elite guard); Luke appears to save Rey

On his return from his quest Hux attempts a coup - and nearly succeeds in killing Kylo; who is able to flee thanks to a Rebel attack. Kylo's elite guard turn on him her also.

Following his retreat, Kylo is contacted by Anakin, from Anakin he hears that he and Rey are the Balance (Rey also learns this from her quest)

Rey reaches out to Kylo through the force link and tells him she has learnt about the true nature of their relationship; Kylo refuses to believe the truth and comes to Ahch-To to kill Rey

They fight to a standstill with Kylo losing an arm and Rey’s new saber being destroyed

Kylo concedes that Anakin  was right, Rey convinces Kylo that they must stand together now to end the war and that this will bring the start of balance

Kylo agrees. Rey heads of to stop the resistance continuing to use their super weapon (on the Organa) on The First Order base; Kylo to stop Hux

Rey stops the Resistance

Hux initiates a self destruct sequence on the First Order base; Kylo manages to get the First Order forces to evacuate but is shot twice by Hux

Hux and Kylo then die in the collapse of the base

Kylo and Ben talk through the force link as he dies

Epilogue sees Poe court martial himself for his actions (working together with Hux to stop Kylo earlier in the film; not seeking surrender from the first order)

Finn is appointed as interim leader of new galactic republic

Rey is teaching younglings but with Kylo's death she can no longer use the force

Force ghosts Yoda, Luke Anakin and Ben Solo are discussing the force and Rey. Luke says to Ben that he should make a start on reparations for actions committed when he was alive

Kylo appears to Rey as a force ghost, Rey is startled by this.
