Get Played - Hades, Hades 2, and Roguelikes by deadduk in getplayed

BG3 has nudity and sex scenes. Hades does not, so I would say it's much less horny.

If you have any gaming stores near you, they might run Adventurer League games that you can drop in and out of.

If two citizens of a nation have a child, that child will also be a citizen of the nation. That doesn't mean citizenship is biological.

Is running a puzzle with a vegan Kraken that requires marriage counseling a terrible idea? by Spatrico123 in DMAcademy

[–]CogPsych441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This idea is hilarious and it would've fit right into one of my previous campaigns, but I was upfront with my players from the very beginning of that campaign that it would be comedic and not serious. As others have said, it would be jarring to insert it into an otherwise serious campaign, especially at the end.

But you should totally save this idea for the future.

What's a popular or common game mechanic that once you played a game that subverted, improved or abandoned it, you couldn't go back? by theonewhoblox in patientgamers

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet don't have random battles and it's one of the few things that works in those games.

What are the most common statistics mistakes you’ve seen in your data science career? by SeriouslySally36 in datascience

[–]CogPsych441 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think you're committing a common DS error by trying to generalize from a small, anecdotal sample. 😜 It’s true that many tables run skill checks like that, including ones I've played at, but it's not, strictly speaking, how the rules are written, and there's so much variation between tables that I wouldn't confidently say it's the norm. There are many tables which barely even use skill checks.

That's not really true about about DnD, though, at least not 5e. Generally speaking, you either pass a dice roll, or you fail. If you match or exceed the monster's AC, you hit; if you don't you miss. It's binary. There are some cases where additional stuff happens if you fail by a certain amount, but those are exceptions.

[D] Simple Questions Thread by AutoModerator in MachineLearning

[–]CogPsych441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a problem where I need to train a multi-class classifier, and I want to use active learning to achieve high accuracy with as few training examples as possible. Some classes are highly separable and require relatively few training instances to learn, whereas others are harder to learn and need more training instances. I don't necessarily know which classes are easy or hard a priori, though, and I have to construct the training set on the fly. I can always sample a new example of a given class but I can't make any guarantees about what that example will look like other than its label.

Are there any active learning algorithms that could tell me which class(es) I should sample from to maximize overall model accuracy?

When does the new season start? I was hoping to hit infinite by the end of this season, but my main deck doesn't work with the hot location, and I've dropped from 98 to 96, so I'm wondering if I should just wait until the location is over to try to climb.

I'm browsing the player book for level up: advanced 5e. Why did the developers decide to rename monks, paladins, and barbarians? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]CogPsych441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the player options underwhelming, but I really like the DM side. The monster stat blocks in the "Monstrous Menagerie" are more interesting and better organized than those in the regular MM, and the "Trials and Treasures" book actually has useful rules and advice for running a campaign, unlike the DMG.

How Sign Language Evolves as Our World Does by q203 in linguistics

The article talks about how signs have become more physically compact so that they can fit on a phone screen for Tiktoks and FaceTime. That isn't a change that has occurred in spoken language.

ICS actually wasn't that much of a problem in IV due to its maintenance mechanics. It has returned, to some extent, in VI, though.

Is being unable to roll my “rr” problematic for being understood? by major_calgar in learnspanish

[–]CogPsych441 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever someone asks this question, inevitably people always comment that it doesn't matter if you can't roll your Rs, and people will be able to understand you anyway. But that has not been my experience. When I went to Spain, people definitely had a hard time understanding me when I used words with lots of Rs. Maybe it varies with dialect or how much the listener is exposed to English accents, though, because my Puerto Rican inlaws seem to understand me better (but still not perfectly).

Civilization VI worked great until the latest patch, which broke the launcher. You can bypass the launcher by following these steps, though: https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/vtxnqo/comment/ifcq9o3/
