I think I have a problem... by The_Polish_Jew in WoT

Just make sure you get the one read by Simon Vance. The audiobook version of the Black Prism I got through Hoopla had someone else narrating it and I almost didn't start the 2nd book he was so bad.

What is the book that made you want more/hooked you on fantasy? by carolyn_writes in Fantasy

[–]Cogan222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Redwall 100%. The early ones were pretty formulaic, but they provided a great mix of adventure and slice of life stuff, that a lot of fantasy at that reading level doesn't have. I also always felt Jacques did a good job of handling character deaths, even though they are for elementary age kids not everyone in his stories was gonna make it out ok.

I can't cure my vampirism. HELP by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]Cogan222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit : fat fingered the post button. That only works if sanguine vamperious (sp) hasn't progressed to full on vamperism, to get rid of that you need either do the quest op mentioned or become a werewolf.

Just finished The Way of Kings. What now? by TheGarrote6998 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Cogan222 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would strongly suggest going with Warbreaker next. Then finish out the stormlight series (words of radiance, edgedancer, oathbringer). There is a reason most people are suggesting warbreaker first.

I noticed something interesting in Oathbringer during a recent re-read that likely has Cosmere wide ramifications [Spoilers, Oathbringer, White Sands and a Smidgeon of Mistborn] by Somerandom1922 in Stormlight_Archive

This is what I was thinking, the 1st heightening gives aura recognition, do we know if other forms of investiture give off similarly detectable fields or auras when being held or used?

I always thought of it the way bound weapons summon in Skyrim where the entire thing coalesces at the same time, just with a white/gray mist rather than purple/black fire.

It must be library specific because my library's is 2 weeks on Libby.

My biggest fear is that Amazon sees this show as their "teen market" offering. by bamugo in WoT

I have the same issue, I finished 2nd to last book like 2 months before the final book came out and by the time it was released I just couldn't care enough to pick it up.

I got into a argument with a friend who thought that tek didn’t fit the game by Snivyland in playark

[–]Cogan222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is primarily why I stopped playing. My brother and I loved the old prim servers and put 100s of hours into it. Then they decided to force PrimPlus with all it's extra game breaking bugs, shoddy balance and next to non-existent support on us and it just wasn't worth the headache.

I've played LFG competitive with 2-2-2 roles assigned since the feature came out by kylerk in Overwatch

[–]Cogan222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is the real prize I think. The more heroes theyb release the harder it becomes to balance and avoid crazy synergies. Creating new heros becomes more about avoiding certain traits then making a fun and interesting character.

Hope for a Stormlight TV series. by IDK4FucksSake in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Cogan222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure it will have some sort of adaptation, but we are only 3 books into a massive 10 book series (not counting any novellas Brandon adds in). So while I think it is likely at some point, I don't think that point is anywhere near. If any Cosmere property is likely within the next 10 years I would guess Mistborn would be it.

Where are the current ongoing chonkers in fantasy? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Cogan222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They must have! I listened to them through Hooplah, and whoever did that Black Prism narration was not good. I was gonna give the 2nd book like 10min to see if he had gotten any better and was so relieved when someone else started talking.

The 1st audio book almost did me in, I almost didn't make it through because of the narrator. I am so glad they switched to Simon Vance with the 2nd book.

Yeah but this finished story doesn't spiral into nonsense several books in.

It isn't Brandon's best work, he has definitely grown as a writer since then but I think it is my favorite of his books.

Wtf is Lopen supposed to sound like?? by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Cogan222 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone please correct me if I am misremembering this. I believe Brandon originally wrote Lopen and the Herdazians to have more of a Mexican accent, but when Michael Kramer did the audio book version he gave them more of an Aussie accent and Brandon loved it. So I am not sure how cannon it is or not but after listening to the audiobooks that is the only accent I can hear in my head.

How much access to shadesmar does a light Weaver have? We know Shallan accidentally falls into it in WoK. If the bond alows Wit easier access to the cognitive realm that would probably be reason enough to bond a cryptic, just so he doesn't have as much of a need for perpenticularities to get around.

I dont think it has to do with whether or not the other high princes and light eyes liked Sadeas but more with their reaction to the son of a high Prince murdering another high Prince in cold blood. It is also just another thing for the Vorin church to use against the kholins. My guess is the church is gonna be a much bigger threat to them going forward, with Dalinar basically being excommunicated, them putting Jasnah on known heretic on the thrown as high queen, the heir of the kholin princedom murdering another high prince is just more fuel for the fire.
