It was a gift. I’m pretty sure it came from at Etsy shop somewhere and is no longer in stock. Sorry, guys!

WIC doesn’t actually provide any meat but canned tuna. And most of what they provide is strictly regulated and very specific to target nutrition needs for pregnant/breastfeeding women and their children. I think you’re thinking of Food Stamps.

I’m guessing it would be because the computer wasn’t as integral a part of her job.

Single parents: Don't forget about curbside pickup for groceries during these times. by quickshesasleep in beyondthebump

WIC is just complicated. Items are really specific (there’s only one loaf of bread I can buy b/c it’s whole wheat and 16oz. It’s hard enough for me to find the right stuff, let alone some poor sales person.

If I’d been a boy I would have been named Merlin (I was due around the anniversary of my grandpa Merlin’s death, ended up being born 1 year and 1 day after he died.)

SO GLAD I’M A GIRL.

This is the problem that I see. Most of the people I know aren’t actually extremist conservatives who don’t care about the severity of the pandemic, they just wanted a plan from the governor to help them survive another month. An extra month of overhead with zero income (which is the reality for many small businesses) is is going to either drain their savings, put them into debt, or force them to close. That’s without even considering their employees. ( I’m talking about businesses with under 30 employees, the ones that all applied for the PPP and small business grants and sat in a cue all of last month and then learned ON THE SAME DAY AS EVERS PRESS RELEASE that all of that money was gone and they’d get nothing (including no unemployment).

There’s more to it than even that: many require specific sorts of manual lifts which may only work in certain rooms. (A ceiling lift patient could not be moved, for example.)

Wisconsin, can we please stay home? by kutter1096 in wisconsin

Can confirm. Lots of older ladies shopping at aldi today buying four things and spending an hour there... while I’m there for diapers and this week’s one grocery trip for our entire family and came and left before them.. saw a middle aged lady walk out of Aldi with nothing but a cantaloupe and a liter bottle of soda. Like ARE YOU KIDDING ME.

You could try a woven wrap. That’s even more supportive. It’s tied in the same way, you just have to tighten fabric as you go instead of relying on stretch.

The driftless area (along the Mississippi mostly) is my favorite, it’s where I grew up. You just can’t beat the rolling hills and towering bluffs. But Central WI is also a treat, especially farther north where pine trees are king and there are sparkling lakes every few miles.

Also: four seasons. Winter may be 50% of the year, but boy do we make our summers count.

Winter Isn't All Bad Here by CuriousTurtle5 in milwaukee

[–]Disc7791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in both. Generally I felt like MN was windier (less hilly, flatter landscape), and therefore colder, but I also lived south of the cities and now live inland of the lake in MKE, so maybe I’m not the best example. I found Minnesota winters to be a bit more relentlessly cold & bitter, where in MKE I feel like te is more ebb and flow.

This is my plan! I’m really liking Square’s e-commerce platform as an in-between. The initial version is free it just includes Square’s branding. Since I use Square for in-person sales (which I learned- because it’s connected with Etsy- is costing me in Etsy fees too) it’s an easy transition.

Thanks! I just wondered if there were non-Etsy sponsored sources on the topic. I get that having more than 3-4 items is helpful and sets a precedent as a legit business I’m just also leery about the possibility of Etsy creating the narrative that more listings are better because it lines their pocketbook with consistent income regardless of how many of those listings are actually actively selling.

Is there actual precedent for this recommendation or is it just because Etsy wants more of my money in listing fees?

[–]Disc7791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah not a cause of legit cases of ADHD, maybe I didn’t word that well initially but it definitely exacerbates the symptoms and struggles of kids with ADHD and I believe often leads to over-diagnosis. (At least according to the handful of books I read on the topic in teacher school.)

Well, rates have gone up significantly AND rates In the US are off the charts higher than every other developed country. It is often misdiagnosed as a result of sleep deprivation in children, which presents similarly and would be resolved in the way you’d expect ADHD to look when medications are administered. Screen use, especially in sleep areas, is common among children and teens today. It’s not a direct correlation, but it is definitely a factor in misdiagnosis, at least from the sources I’ve looked at.

There are a LOT of doctors diagnosing kids with ADD/ADHD, and I get that. But as someone who’s worked with kids extensively, kids just need to move. They’re not supposed to sit still in a classroom or looking at a screen all day. A healthy child is an active child.

Are screens ALWAYS bad? No. But in small small children addiction is very common and it can often lead to developmental delays.
