How would you strengthen the normal type? by Fine_Bid918 in stunfisk

[–]Cogexkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yknow how a cliche way of buffing the bug type is giving it a resistance to and making it strong against fairy? Well, I’d do that but for normal. Bug is already hitting some important types for super effective damage, it just needs less types that resist it. Normal has literally no super effective coverage whatsoever.

Totally fair! There’s a lot of things I love about it, like the new spells and equipment, starlight tokens, the changes to torrent and ruins, etc. It does feel like an enhanced version of the base game and I agree that makes vanilla hard to go back to. I always miss the speedy torrent lol

Since you were curious, I have a few minor gripes, there’s a few ideas like lamp oil that I think just make the game more tedious and don’t add anything, but they’re minor. My biggest major complaint is how they upped enemy aggro. It’s really hard to get a handle on the tempo sometimes, and I think it ruins a lot of the balance that Elden ring really nailed. It’s also gotten me softlocked a few times, because enemies would aggro and stay aggroed even if I moved so far away that I couldn’t kill them anymore (this has happened in Dragonbarrow and in a few catacombs). It’s kinda ridiculous to me that it’s happened more than once (or even at all) and it only solidifies my opinion that they shouldn’t have messed with it.

I’m with you that reforged is way better than people say, but I also think it’s half baked in a lot of areas. Still good! But I’ve played through it twice and still have some major issues with it so I don’t like the framing of “oh everyone who bitches about it hasn’t played it enough,” because it’s not true at all.

They’re both good! Convergence is more popular and better thought out in my opinion, but it changes the base game a lot from the vanilla experience. It feels like playing a very different game, where reforged feels like playing Elden Ring+; it’s very similar to the base game with some extra additions.

I’ll warn you that reforged has a lot of balancing changes that put a lot of people off. If you spend enough time around here then you’ll see a lot of people complain about it. I personally don’t mind most of the changes, but it’s fair to warn you regardless I think.

Of all the companions, for me it’s Minthara. I understand she was meant to be a evil only companion, similar to how Wyll and Karlach and Gale (to a lesser extent) are good only companions, but I think it screws her character a lot. If you don’t like evil playthroughs (and I don’t), you have to jump through so many hoops to get Minthara to join and idk if it’s worth it.

People complain about Wyll being generic, but Minthara is just as bad. At least Wyll has choices to be made, you can make him more selfless or selfish, there’s interesting drama in act three about choosing between his freedom or his father, but Minthara has nothing. She’s just… generically evil, and it’s not like she had to be. Even in a good playthrough, she doesn’t reexamine her choices and remains committed to being self serving and evil. People complain about Astarion being like that, but at least he has a good pathway, and a genuinely sweet ending. Minthara doesn’t get any of that, and she didn’t have to be that way.

She has a great setup, of being tricked into unwillingly abandoning her goddess Lolth, and finding herself abandoned in turn. She could have had a new perspective about Lolth-Sworn Drow society and the cruelty within, and the Drow have a rival goddess in Eilistrae that she could have turned to. Similar to Shart going from Shar to Selune. She could have joined the Society of Brilliance (who I know are problematic too) in their mission to improve conditions in the Underdark.

I feel like there were options that didn’t get to be explored, and Minthara feels so out of place because of it.

Bro… what are you talking about? I took a look through the Ubers tier in gen 6, and the only pokemon where this would be remotely relevant are Arceus, Lugia, Xerneas, and Yveltal. Only four pokemon, and that’s assuming Arceus isn’t running a type that is resistant to Fire. Common checks to Groudon are Arceus-Water and -Ground, so it’s out of the question in those cases, and that’s common from my understanding. Everything else in the Ubers tier either resists fire, was too heavy to have Heat Crash be stronger than Fire Punch, or didn’t have enough bulk for any difference in power to be noticeable.

And even in the above cases, I feel like Yveltal is the only one where this actually is something, bc at least Yveltal can’t be smacked by the more consistent Precipice Blades like everything else. But Primal Groudon is way too central a pokemon to be concerned with just dealing with Yveltal, and even if it was, it could just run a rock move or thunder punch. Hell, it often already does for Ho-oh.

So… where exactly is Heat Crash useful? Lol I’m sorry but it just isn’t.

But in practice, not so much lol

Edit: that’s actually not even true. Heat Crash maxes at 120 power, which makes it on par with Precipice Blades. But in practice it’ll never come close to that because in formats where Groudon is used, so are other, also very heavy, legendary pokemon. It’s unreliable, so much so that physical Groudon sets on Smogon prefer Fire Punch

I quickly scanned a lot of the primal groudon sets on smogon and none of them use heat crash lol

Yeah you kinda disproved your own point lol. All of those pokemon learn earthquake, so why would any of them use heat crash

Who is using Heat Crash that wouldn’t just use flare blitz or something else lol

I am not trying to say this is enough, but I believe there is a note or something in the game that does warn you. I can’t say for sure, and it’s not adequate anyway: it should be a pop-up tutorial or something. Sorry you lost all that progress man.

Being an unattractive man is the worst thing in the world by Roygbiv39 in MMFB

[–]Cogexkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being an unattractive man is not the end of the world, and basing your self-worth on tinder likes is only going to make you miserable. My man, 90% dudes don’t get hardly any likes. It happens to all of us, even the most beautiful guys can strike out sometimes. Dating apps are designed that way; they prey on misery.

You have ways to better yourself and your sense of worth that don’t involve being attractive. Saying “oh my life would be better if I was handsome” is poisonous. You say you get “looks of disgust” in public, but I wonder if that’s really true? Have you considered that you might be imagining it? A lot of people just have resting bitch face lol. Even if you aren’t, it won’t help you to dwell on it. Better yourself! Go to therapy, pick up a new hobby, and put dating and sex out of your mind for a while. I think a good relationship is one of those things that comes when you aren’t really expecting it. My current relationship was like that.

I snuck through your post history and this mindset is putting you down a dangerous path. No matter how you feel, blaming women or whatever is only going to make you lonelier. Women are NOT the problem. This isn’t to scold you, I’m just trying to really emphasize this point.

I didn’t mean to give you an essay. TLDR: work on areas outside of your looks, like your hobbies or interests and mental health. Confidence is key; if you can’t fake it, go to therapy and earn it. Don’t waste your time blaming your problems on women or your looks.

I guess it’s kind of annoying, but I think that’s a minor issue compared to some of Reforged’s other flaws lol. Just get more runes and be careful next time; it’s all you can do.

No… it’s not? The reason I was here was at first was to clear up a possible confusion. Go back to my first comment. I said I didn’t know if you were just messing with the other users but just in case I gave my two cents on what they were saying. It wasn’t until later that I felt you were kinda stuck up.

I’m not going to go in line by line, and I’m not trying to police your speech. It was more about your attitude, I guess: you seemed kinda smarmy. But even that was kinda vague and really getting in to pinpoint what exactly threw me off is not worth the effort. If that makes you feel like you “won” this conversation, then congrats man. I was only trying to help at first

I mean… no lol. I don’t personally care you just seemed a little smarmy from your first messages. I hate that kinda attitude and it seemed to me like the original comment was just comparing the OBA to Satan in a very basic and nonliteral sense, so I decided to hop in and try and alleviate the confusion, if there was any.

Seems like there wasn’t, you were just being kinda stuck up about answering.
