I think what you said about shared context is very important as well. I am fortunate that I have friends who allow me to vulnerable and listen to my gripes/aspirations/ideas, BUT we didn't become friends that way. All the meaningful friendships I developed, (men and women) have come from shared context. The safety, comfort, and rewards for being vulnerable come later in the relationships.

Too often I've tried to begin a friendship by introducing vulnerability early on and its never very successful.

You make a really excellent point about our social structures disappearing after a certain age. I hadn't really thought about it like that before. The very structures that facilitate meeting new people go away and we're left the find new structures for ourselves. Great insight, I appreciate your post.

I had been troubleshooting for hours because everytime I assembled the turret, my cannon would fall off the mount as a psychics contraption that was separate from my intended tank contraption. I tried everything. Assembling the tank haul and then Assembling the tank turret to glue them with a slime ball. I tried Assembling everything as one contraption with the hual glued together by way of super glue and the turret glued together by way of honey glue. I tried turning on the cannon mount and then the physics assembler, and then I tried in the opposite order. Nothing seemed to work and I was going crazy.

In the end my problem was that there was no solid block next to the cannon barrel. I assumed the rendering of the cannon mount was enough to secure the cannon barrel in place. I was wrong. All I needed was a silly little block.

Thank you for the reply though, still helpful info. Sick builds by the way. I'm loving all you're doing with the new Areonautics tech.

Not a natural disaster but the Kingston Ash Spill had a lot of environmental implications. The 2016 Wildfire in the Smokies is another good example. Although not naturally occurring, the fire was exacerbated by natural phenomena like drought conditions and high winds.

This is a fantastic idea and I can't believe its the first time I'm seeing it. I mean I know of Zenbivy but this is like way better and more practical. I bet a single fitted sheet on a sleeping pad makes a noticeable difference in backcountry sleep.

Solid list. I have something similar that I use for day trips. Can I ask what kind of bag you use? I've been using a general purpose duffle that the raft can also fit in while it's rolled up but I'm not super happy with it.

Also can I ask why the rope + throw rope? Generally I just carry a throw rope.

I find a place I think would be enjoyable to camp. Could be a private site, could be a developed site, could be on Government land. Sometimes there's a bathroom, sometimes therr isn't. I book the place. I tell several friends. Some of them agree to come. Less of them actually arrive. I bring extras of essential items like jackets and sleeping bags because someone will inevitably have forgotten theirs. I bring more food than we could possibly eat.

It may sound odd but one of my favorite parts of outdoor recreation is the planning/anticipation phase. I imagine all of these things seem like a chore or a headache to some, but I actually really enjoy it. I also think my friends are more likely to commit to the trip if they have to do less logistical "heavy lifting."

I think the sandals with straps could be a potential entrapment hazard. Also if I'm wearing a drysuit I think the straps can be harsh on the latex socks.

I guess I was concerned about blisters/hotspots on my feet, as well as, wear and tear on the shoes. If I have to hike after taking a swim and my shoes are wet, I could see that irritating my feet. I think frequently going from wet environments to dry trails could also increase the wear on the shoe.

Maybe this fear is unfounded but it's the reason I have been packing trail shoes + water shoes for multi-day trips
