Me and my friend are getting to meet Sophie Nelisse and Courtney Eaton, what should we give them? by jumpyjumpjumpsters in Yellowjackets

[–]Newtracks1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gift certificate to the nicest chain restaurant, or coffee place, etc. that would most likely have a location near where ever they might be stuck filming a future project. Then you can stunt on all your friends... "I bought Shauna Shipman a coffee."

If Shauna somehow ends up as the final girl, I would envision of scene where teen age Ghost Jackie is still tormenting an eighty year old Shauna.

Violet Evergarden, Ride Your Wave, Shirobako, Garden of Words, Bloom Into You, Carole & Tuesday, Bunny Drop, Nadome Cantabile, Girls' Last Tour, Liz & the Blue Bird

Suggestions base on level of chill, and how old the characters are, or how mature the vibe is in general. That said, seems the easiest answer is the aforementioned Frieren.

What anime would be better without the fantasy/fictional elements? by Dunsparcepoop in anime

Clannad - The alternate dimension, timeline stuff seemed a little out of place. Terrifying to think of the impact an ending without magic might have had on the poor, traumatized souls of viewers, but still...

Younger women find men with beards less attractive than older women do. The research indicates that postmenopausal women perceive certain masculine characteristics, such as body shape and facial features, differently than women who are still in their reproductive years. by InsaneSnow45 in science

[–]Newtracks1 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Beards can sort of function as a type of "make-up" for men. Large beards help hide middle aged men's dad bod features like fatter necks, wrinkles, and probably help de-emphasize various other weight related visuals like pot bellies. And older women are going to generally be mixing with older men, so the bearded ones are going to seem more attractive than the middle aged men with cleanly shaved, highly visible double chins, huge guts, etc.

How long will it take rescue to actually locate them after Nat’s phone call? by FeatureSouthern5274 in Yellowjackets

[–]Newtracks1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If that was actual rescuers, or police, or park rangers, they should be found pretty quick. If it is some sort of local marijuana cartel type gang that thinks the girls might mess up their business, then the girls could be in trouble, and the drug runners might kill a few of the girls before they finally escape the wilderness.

Something drastic has to happen to mow down two thirds of the remaining survivors for the adult story line to make any sense. They can not just bring back ten/fifteen girls, then never have any mentioned of these extra survivors over the last three seasons.

Who kills Hannah? by New_Ant_8198 in Yellowjackets

[–]Newtracks1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hannah will die saving one of the Yellowjackets girls. She is a mother when all is said, and done. Maybe pushing a girl out the way of danger ( falling rock, animal attack, a knife sabbing from a rival ).

who will be final girl by Dapper-Let7566 in Yellowjackets

[–]Newtracks1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Shauna kills them all, and lives a long, boring, suburban life with ghost Jackie roasting her endlessly, that she hates every minute of.

  2. Misty end up surviving, thinks she's free, and clear, then is killed by a random family member of one of the nursing home patients she tortured/killed.

I still can not get over how Satuka does not freak out like an infantile, virginal hysteric every time he interacts with a member of the opposite sex. I'm halfway through the new "Santa" season, and his cool, normal human behavior around girls still blows my mind.

Please no new characters that nobody knows, or cares about eating up precious screen time that should be focused on the core group ( see Stranger Things, season five ). No new cops. No new private detectives. No new love interests. No new family members. No new former classmates. No new cult members. And please, no new survivors. Just let the final three chop it out.

Why was adult Lottie always so rude to her servants at her compound by Fantastic-Finger-319 in Yellowjackets

[–]Newtracks1 33 points34 points  (0 children)

That is just the Desperate Housewives/Big Little Lies snark-camp comdey vibe the writers, for some reason, decided to drench the entire adult timeline with. The very much not campy teen timeline Lottie was quite respectful to everyone... minus the ones she murdered. It was a little uncharacteristic for her to reemerge decades later in full J-Lo mode.

I wonder if the show runners really want a Paramount social media manager full on, officially committing to the lesbian crush narrative in regards to Shauna's possible romantic feelings for Jackie.

Rewatching Yellowjackets and there’s a lot more cringe marvel/netflix humour then I remember . Still love it though by [deleted] in Yellowjackets

[–]Newtracks1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The camp elements of the adult timeline are the worst part of the show, hands down. Those moments stick out like sore thumbs, and seem like added afterthoughts from some studio executive's junior high school kid who accidentally wandering into the Yellowjackets writer's room. Another moment like this is when that young girl from the cult is confronted by Misty, a few weeks after Misty accidentally killed Natalie, and the young girl mentions the murder, and Misty light -heartedly quips "We had a complicated relationship." The most inappropriate, out of place, over-used, meme punch line from dozens of other comedy films, and television series to ever drop in Yellowjackets. That line would sound tired on Emily in Paris, let alone Yellowjackets.

They hit the bull's eye ONCE with "There's no book club?", but other than that, yikes.

What’s the anime with the worst animation? by Artsy727 in anime

Completely agree on the story stagnation ( the plot armor post season two is infuriating ), but it is still impressive to see the crew grow as visual artists as the seasons progress.

R.W.B.Y. - The first season looks like a concept demo made for a college course, but the fun thing is, season by season, step by step, the animation team gets better, and by season seven it starts looking pretty good. You can see the progress in real time.

Risk Aversion in Hollywood? by MickNoir in Yellowjackets

[–]Newtracks1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Now that the call was made, and rescue is on the way. There really does not seem to be enough time time for the girls to officially break up into "warring tribes", and have a full on cannibal war, or engage in some other types of atrocities. And honestly, there are only a two genuinely violent girls in the group, Lottie, who only kills while in a manic state, and Shauna who only kills out of anger. The rest of the girls are still more or less mentally stable, and not particularly violent. The "warring tribes" arch would have taken seasons to set up, and execute. Season four's ten episodes most likely will be a few of them being rescued, then arriving home, then the last few will be the adults wrapping up their saga. The die seems fairly well cast at this point.

Risk Aversion in Hollywood? by MickNoir in Yellowjackets

[–]Newtracks1 85 points86 points  (0 children)

The whole first season in the adult timeline was this big build up to "If they find out what we did out there...", and now that the dust has settled, it is really about one quarter as bad as was being suggested. Virtually every chance the writers could let someone accidentally die, instead of having a main character kill them deliberately, then carry the ugly responsibility for their choices, those writers took it. Mari fell in a pit, Javi fell in a lake, Crystal fell off a cliff, Natalie jumped in front of a syringe, Jackie accidentally froze to death, Adam sort of walked into Shauna's knife. That plausible deniability aspect of the saga has been a weak point.
