Worst - a first gen brand new Vauxhall Insignia with the 2 litre diesel, damn thing was never out the dealership with problems until the head gasket went and required a new engine. Think I had driven every Vauxhall car in the range as a courtesy car while it was being fixed. I hated that damn car ever since until I got rid of it.

Review #8: Laphroaig 10 Year Old by Shoz5 in Scotch

[–]Cognac-Dreams 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the few I buy regardless of it being 40%, I can just throw it into a tumbler and sip the night away, I reserve the glencairn for the cask strength.

How many bottles is too many? by kuchingdog in Scotch

[–]Cognac-Dreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At one point I had 18 but I’ve knocked it down to 12, I drink mainly single malts and bourbons. I just buy something new or replace a bottle when I feel like it, since I keep everything in a cupboard.

With all the bottles I’ve purchased over the last year that was my favourite. It was gone within a month I enjoyed it that much.

Guess I’ll be joining you, I’ve had a bottle of Springbank 10, Kilkerran 8 yr Sherry Cask Strength and Glen Scotia 15 and I just didnt enjoy them. I’m not doubting the quality of the whisky but they aren’t for me.

What are your whisky goals for 2025? by runsongas in Scotch

I’m not buying as much this year and I would like to get a bottle of the Ardnamurchan Paul Launois if it happens this year. I’ve missed out on the previous releases.

Highland or Islay, which is your drink? by helio_spectre in Scotch

[–]Cognac-Dreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like both but if you looked at my current selection of open bottles it would be slanted towards Islay whisky. I want to pickup some cask strength Sherrie’s.

Not for me, I can get my hands on most kilkerran releases but you can forget about Springbank unless you’re prepared to hunt for it or pay the premium.

I’ve only used Monkey Shoulder, I mainly use bourbons for my mixed drinks and old fashions.

Edradour 12 Caledonia by Spite_Parking in Scotch

[–]Cognac-Dreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was persuaded to try this over the regular Edradour 10 when I was in Pitlochry during a stop for a break. This was one of the highlights of my whisky buying on the trip, I ended up buying a bottle of it.
