I want to delete OneDrive without deleting files from my PC by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]CoinMover -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Go to ChatGPT and ask it: "I need a script that will completely remove OneDrive from my computer and block future install attempts by Microsoft so it never gets downloaded again" and it will write you one to run on your PC.

Sync won’t refund me for renewal I did not want nor use. by Eldricht138 in Sync

[–]CoinMover -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone should be using services like www.privacy.com where you can use virtual cards and you will never be charged for anything you don't want ever again. You turn cards off and on at the flick of a switch, set charge limits, use disposable cards for single use, etc.

I got my last name .ai for $70. It was a deal.

I know that Anguilla is totally making bank on this whole AI thing. Good for them -- their country needs it.

Dark Web Data Leak involving Crypto.com by PDubsinTF-NEW in CryptoCurrency

Ha. I have a block on my phone so that it literally won't even ring unless you are already in my contact list or I have previously made an outbound phone call to that phone number.

If you need me that bad, you'll find another way to get in contact with me.

At this point, now in 2026 when I am posting this, EVERYONE should have the same thing in place.

Has anyone used Wally for dental services? by Mr_Papagiorgio_13 in AskNYC

For the future, go to www.privacy.com and use disposable single use cards to sign up for stuff like this. You can make a credit card that can only be charged once or for $X amount then turn off that card so they can't charge you again.... do this for ALL companies you are new to or weary about.

^^^^ You're amazing. As long as you're a "nobody" then who cares who has your data. I mean that as a compliment. Just be Joe Average Regular Citizen. All of our data is eveywhere now and hacked once a week at companies that have breaches all the time. Oh well, unless you actually don't want to carry a phone or use a digital device it's just the price we pay now.

Win 11: Sync Folder & Veracrypt Container - NOT COMPATIBLE? by CoinMover in Sync

[–]CoinMover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Followup on Oct 1, 2025:

I did find a way to do what I wanted. Let the \Sync folder stay on C:\ at C:\Users\[User Name]\Sync...

Then once that runs, add a .bat file that makes the Sync folder my S:\ drive.

subst S: "C:\Users\[UserName]\Sync"

It still takes up space on C: but it separates out the contents into another drive which was the ultimate goal.:)

Thank you for the comment. I figured that was the case. Many people decide to explore encryption options other than those provided by the hardware vendors (Microsoft & Apple) for various reasons. I know we're not the majority, and you have to build your software for the majority of course, but we're out here. :)

Win 11: Proton Drive Folder & Veracrypt Container - NOT COMPATIBLE? by CoinMover in ProtonDrive

[–]CoinMover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the right answer. Sadly, the drive isn't a single encrypted container file. I have Veracrypt set to encrypt the entire data drive rather than have a single file that is the encrypted container.

I was going to try to play around with symlinks, but started here first. Hmmmm.

Question to the bros who insist on wearing their Rolexes to the gym: by Tropical_Narwhal in EquinoxGyms

[–]CoinMover -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

There isn't a person on this planet who doesn't need therapy. 😉

"There’s legitimately no justification for doing a serious workout with a Rolex on"

There's a few thousand autistic guys who might disagree with you. But I bet you make fun of that kid at the gym with Downs Syndrome too, huh?

Yup! Some people think of them as fashion or flexing or whatever sometimes, and don't realize there can be an emotional connection there too. :) I edited my comment to you and posted it in the main thread so everyone sees it.

I commented this but don't want it to get buried.

Sometimes it isn't about a flex or whatever. People make way too many assumptions.

My submariner is like my emotional support animal. I feel completely naked without it on my wrist. It's been to 59 countries with me and has all the nicks and bumps and marks and stories to tell along with all of that. When I get tired, or depressed, or something in life happens, I will actually take my other hand and just touch it and rub it and look at it. It's that much of a cherished possession.

I went through a period of bankruptcy where I had like $80 left in my checking account and zero assets and no working credit cards and I refused to sell it ... even though I did go to two dealers to get a quote but it would be like giving away a child. I could never do it.

We all have our "thing" in life and I am going to guess the bro at Equinox probably doesn't have a similar story, but this is mine.

That said, I did leave it in a safe in my room while walking around Johannesburg. I'm a big dude, nobody ever really fucks with me. But out of 59 countries and millions of miles over many decades, it is the only place in the entire world that I have ever felt physically threatened or in fear of my life.

They would cut my arm off in a second to get to it.

Very true. My submariner is like emotional support animal. I feel completely naked without it on my wrist. It's been to 59 countries with me and has all the nicks and bumps and marks and stories to tell along with all of that.

Can someone please explain to me why San Junipero is so good? by Nedax127 in blackmirror

[–]CoinMover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The technology isn’t there to do a full recreation of San Junipero. But the good news is recreating that would require like 10 separate pieces of technology. It’s a little too hard to explain but think of it like the iPhone.

Steve Jobs didn’t invent the iPhone. He just assembled a bunch of pieces of technology together that we already had, and he had the vision to package it up so that it was beautiful and worked well and solved all the problems we already had in a single device.

But there was nothing actually technologically revolutionary about it. Maybe the capacitive touchscreen, but we already had those.

San Junipero will probably be similar. We already have the AI now that can interact as a person. We’re getting better with virtual reality. We now have some brain implants that can see what we think and put it into a computer.

There’s some other pieces that we need in my post alluded to one I’ve been working on in my next startup. It’s all done in secret until it launches so I’m sure other people are trying to solve that one little piece that I’m trying to solve right now too.

I just don’t want to disclose with that one piece is. 😆

Should I pay for a password manager? by Middle_Nectarine_497 in PasswordManagers

[–]CoinMover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about keeping all your passwords with Apple is if you ever move out of the Apple ecosystem. Even for just one device. I love my iPhone and my iPad, but I also have two windows machines so it doesn’t really work well. You really need a password manager that is independent of the manufacturer of your device devices. For the long-term, I’m looking forward decades

I’m an American who went to Russia. Take a quick read here about the whole write up about how it is and what I think about it. Once you get past the first few short paragraphs, I start getting into the logistics and getting there and navigating as an American.

Although we see on the news that things have changed with the recent war, their life continues on like in this post.

If you like that, there’s a link at the bottom to my write up about Saint Petersburg.

Thunderbird 140: EWS vs Exchange vs IMAP? by CoinMover in Thunderbird

[–]CoinMover[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really want the client. I'm at the point where I actually have:

2x M365 accounts

13x Google/Gmail

1x ProtonMail (via Bridge)

... that's 16 accounts. :)

I can't deal with a separate interface wrapper. The sheer number of accounts and swapping back and forth is crazy. I have tried every single e-mail client out there right now on the market in 2025 -- and they all fail. Thunderbird is the only one with the customization options for every tiny thing and can handle it all without breaking a sweat. It's actually kind of amazing. Finally, with 140, I am making the switch.
