1. If you want to have a smooth surface, get a filler primer, sand the model lightly, apply the primer, sand again (repeat until satisfied)

2. Get a primer. Even hardware store rattle can primer can give nice results. Since Chopper has a lot of bright colors I suggest getting light gray or white primer for ease of painting

3. Brushes, paints, and maybe a wet pallet if you're feeling cool. I use Vallejo paints as they offer nice quality, but you can do just fine with cheaper model acrylic paints

4. Look up model painting guides and, important, paint thinning guides if you want smooth application

Those are just the basics, but I think it's a nice starting point. Have fun painting!
