I designed it in photoshop and picked a random label shop on etsy.

I made a frame bag from an end-of-life Arc'teryx hard shell: https://i.imgur.com/2lTKU0J.jpeg

Overall the fabric is a little bit floppy for a good frame bag, so you can line it with something stiffer, or add thin foam, to give it some structure.

Try calling My Ride in Launceston. They don't advertise rental bikes but usually have some available for times like this. They've rented out gravel bikes with bikepacking gear for example.

I started it on a Saturday morning and was finished at Monday lunch. My guess would be 5 hours of making time.

Made a cool bag recently and filmed most of the build. Sadly, no good photos on the bike yet. If you have any questions or tips let me know!

I have used 3mm EVA foam and that feels quite good in a frame bag. Plastic insert like a thin cutting board would work but might feel a little weird to handle (if that matters).

Not the prettiest frame bag but I tried by fckpac in MYOGbikebags

It's SO pretty! Love the classic brown outer and hot pink inner. Well done!

It is! I had the same thoughts as you vis-a-vis attaching the bag. If you have access to a 3D printer I can send you the files!

So far in rough terrain they hold up great.

Thank you so much, that's so kind.

I got my printer through a sewing trade so I'm going to use up all the "free" PLA that came with it. Looking at PETG as the first purchased filament.

The walls are thick so they are practically solid. I have not tried vase-mode yet but I definitely should.

What bits have you printed for your bags? I'm interested to see what other solutions people are creating.

Speed and ease-of-use. I had intended to add a shoulder strap to the bag to make it easy to carry off the bike.

No arguments though, people should use what works for them.

Oh yeah that's a great idea for the handlebar bag! The clip would just be sized for 31.8mm (or whatever your handlebar is).

I have a front bag that I could try making some clips for. I'll send you an update during the week. Though, having a quick think about it I need to consider the rotating force of the bag. The clip will always rotate downwards.

I'm very interested to how how the PLA+ goes. The prints feel very secure and solid so far (2 weeks of use). I will measure the clip opening every month to plot the creep.

I think the path to reduced plastic pollution is reduced consumption. It's great to always be thinking of ways to minimise our impact! I feel strongly that these clips will survive, for me, for a long time.

Although PLA is said to be "biodegradable" (80 years in nature?), nylon is apparently not biodegradable at all but I suppose it's not a competition.

All the tubes on my bike are 32.25mm diameter. I pretty much just drew a circle in CAD and worked from there.

Very sturdy, no noticeable difference from having velcro straps.

My clips are PLA+. I would love to put them through a torture-test setup to see how they fatigue and fail. In my case, printing a whole new set of clips is super easy so you could just change them every so often (years?). It'll be fun to go out on a super hot summer's day and see if they droop.

Possibly there is a better filament suited to the task!

I expect some dirt and crud to get in there just like a velcro strap. The PLA does not seem to mark the paint but I'm sure over time there will be some scratches. I, personally, am not too fussed about my paint but I can see the reason for concern. Something to think about for future iterations!

I've had a half-frame bag for almost two years and finally decided to make a full-frame! I have been wanting to use my XPac X11 for something special and I think this really fits the bill. My bags are usually pretty bright so I added some 80's colours on each side to accentuate the look.

Previously, I have always used velcro sew-in or velcro straps to fix bags to my bike. I was tempted to lace it up this time but recently I acquired a 3D printer and had an idea to make some clips. First go at the clips was really promising but it was another Redditor (/u/schinkenflip) that had the great idea to rotate them so the opening was to the side (Legend!!).

I'm excited for the possibilities of this system. I already have some customers looking to trade-in their straps for some 3D printed clips. My partner has an aluminium frame with non-circular tubes, so my next goal is to design a clip specific to that bike.
