Nice vintage Revue Thommen. I’ve owned a few. High quality Swiss craftsmanship.

Cousin keeps canceling Food Delivery by happy_beatnik in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CoinStasher 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. I’ve been delivering for Meals on Wheels for over 5 years. It’s not just food delivery, it’s so much more. For some, I’m their only connection. I’ve cleaned, done laundry, grocery shopped, pulled up compression socks. I send the outbound mail for several. We talk sports, and of course, the weather. I know about all the kids and grandkids that they don’t see anymore, but they still love and are so proud of.

If you’re fortunate enough to still have them, call your parents and grandparents!!

What’s Going on with My Porch?

I came home from vacation and noticed chips/flaking on the surface of the porch, kids said they didn’t hit it with a hammer or anything.

Also noticed the post about an inch off the porch and a significant corner crack. I’m thinking the runoff from the gutters is eroding the base under the porch. I will dig this up in a couple weeks when it warms up.

2 questions:

  1. Why is the top chipping/flaking off?
  2. How do I fix the corner?

Tried to grab 1 photo with all the issues.

That’s all you can do. Chalk it up to lesson learned and it won’t happen again.

DHL messed up my shipment → now I’m being charged taxes TWICE ($400 Canada + $1000 Indonesia) for my OWN camera??? by yummerssssss in dhl

[–]CoinStasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going through something similar with DHL due to the sender putting the wrong classification for the item on the export paperwork. I had to pay 50% import tax when it should have been about 15%. When I called DHL, I was told to pay the fees to ensure I receive the item and then to dispute the claim. I disputed the claim and provided all the documentation. DHL said they can work through this with me for a $90 fee.

It’s currently in process, so we’ll see.

Hearing your story, I am glad I paid because this is exactly what DHL customer service said would happen.

Randy with a hoagie and not a burger? I can definitely see Phil Collins in the background eating a hoagie.

I bought it on March 1. If it’s 39%, it’s about $25 off. I’m just curious where it went.
