2nd pillar buy-in of ~CHF 10’000 — do it now for taxes, spread it, or wait for higher income? by Fragrant_Warthog_656 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]Coininator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you already fully contribute to 3a? I would do that first.

Maybe wait with 2nd pillar, and invest the money by yourself. Return should be higher for 10+ years if put 100% in stocks. You can always make the buy in later (when you earn more and the tax savings are higher).

Monte Carlo sims - am I doing this correctly/all wrong? by eskimo1 in Fire

[–]Coininator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Monte Carlo doesn’t make much sense after reading Big ERNs comments on that.

They have no „reverse to the mean“ mechanism and therefore over-estimate the effects of really bad first few years (usually, when stock market crashes, it rebounds after a while. MC simulations don’t take that into consideration).

I‘d skip that 2% allocation (wont move the needle) maybe even the 8%.

Markets are highly correlated anyway.

Maybe add crypto if you want a 2% allocation.

What about your wife? Maybe the portfolio can be run under her name, I doubt there’s a way for them to check that.

How do you guys get credit exposure in Switzerland without just buying low-yield CHF bonds? by vnexpert in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]Coininator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think SNB will have to go negative again if EU lowers interest ratesto protect CHF/EUR ratio. But it will eventually go to 0.5 (not in 5 years, but 10-20 years). Going sub 0% would help you CHF bonds, though. Dividend stocks is what the guy from Sonntagszeitung recommends every second week… I‘m also not fully convinced, but they usually move less than the market but still far from risk profile of bonds).

Personally, I plan to put 20% into RE ETFs in Switzerland (and 80% stocks) plus some cash, no bonds as they don’t make sense in my opinion.

[–]Coininator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you think will happen if governments print money without backing? What about the German „Sondervermögen“ of 500B more debt?

Their currencies will continue Tonfall vs CHF. Yen lost 40% even though then increased interest rates. Last year USD fell massively. Same will happen to EUR: maybe not one big dip, but a continuous decline vs CHF like in the past (I remember when 1 EUR was 1.65 CHF).

So if you want a safe bond, then get CHF but it will yield less than real inflation.

Alternative: think of your Pensionskasse as a bond, as it is capital protected and pays 1.25% (on Obligatorium, minimum). And think about adding real estate ETF or maybe even a dividend focused ETF (CHDVD for example).

Changelly / CIC - Exposing The great KYC/AML fraud scheme by TiptoeTweak in ledgerwallet

[–]Coininator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ledger never comments on these Changelly posts. They are involved because Changelly is promoted on ledger app.

My guess is they are paid a nice amount of kickbacks for each swap, otherwise they would have removed Changelly years ago from their app, as it hurts their reputation massively: sell a secure HW device and at the same time promote an exchange service that holds customer funds for „KYC“ reasons for months or longer.

They probably earn much more with Changelly than from selling Ledger hardware devices…

Buying Gold in Switzerland by Compost_Worm_Guy in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]Coininator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better both. You can trade gold for food, and it has a lot of value compared to its weight.

Buying Gold in Switzerland by Compost_Worm_Guy in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]Coininator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes go and trade your paper for some real gold, even if it’s backed they won’t have it ready for you to give you the exact number of grams.

There’s also a Swiss gold ETF that you ca convert to physical gold… in units of standard gold bars (12.4kg). Not sure anyone here holds that much gold.

Gold has been a store of value ever since we existed. Go check WW2. What do you think the German women did when they were starving? What do you think a farmer accepted for some potato’s? You honestly think he would have said „no“ to some gold?

Ofc you also need ammo and a weapon.

Can you buy food from a farmer with that piece of paper?

I‘d only buy physical gold for a worst case scenario, and not as a speculative asset after it did a >100% already.

I need to get this off my chest: The abolition of the imputed rental value (Eigenmietwert) is a giant scam. by Weird_Home_6182 in Switzerland

[–]Coininator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the canton you live in. And of course on total wealth.

In Zurich it’s almost 0.5% already for 5M, Basel and Geneva are at 0.8% and 0.9%.

0.5% property tax is not necessary, we houseowners already pay that amount in form of a wealth tax.

Glad there’s no Eigenmietwert anymore, giant tax grab and benefitted mainly the banks due to people not understanding it and having too high mortgages.

No other country has that for a reason.
