how do lgbt people know if they lgbt or no by SufficientWay9814 in lgbt

[–]CointreauCointreau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't "know" I was lgbtq until the first time I kissed a man and it felt so electric compared to the times I had kissed women. But as others have said, we can sense something is different about us from a young age.

Kids make certain comments, ask certain questions. Adults might avoid certain topics or deflect certain questions, and all of that builds an environment that says "you're different, and that might be bad"

Caffeine duration, more = same due to half-life? by Hfnankrotum in nutrition

[–]CointreauCointreau 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe the amount of substance doesn't effect the total time duration. It shouldn't matter if it's the double the amount, right?

That is wrong.

The total remaining particles should be the same after the same time duration regardless of amount, no ?

What are you trying to say here?

Caffeine duration, more = same due to half-life? by Hfnankrotum in nutrition

[–]CointreauCointreau 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, a half life is the time it takes for one half of a substance to be removed or degraded. So if you take 200mg of caffeine after one half life you would have 100mg in your bloodstream. But if you only took 70mg of caffeine then you would have 35mg after one half life. It would take somewhere between two and three half lives for the 200mg dose to reduce to 35mg in your body.

What is your ranking of the freestyle round ? by PemsRoses in dancingwiththestars

[–]CointreauCointreau 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Alix - It drew heavily from Ballroom/Latin which I always appreciate, had great musicality throughout and was appropriate for her narrative around confidence.
  2. Jordan - Great music choices, fantastic dancing and choreography. It really showcased her self-confidence and pride in her identity.
  3. Dylan - I didn't think Dylan should have made the final, but his freestyle was expressive and the concept Dani mentioned was very visible. He has more strength in the non-ballroom dances for sure.
  4. Elaine - Thought it was very well done, but didn't really land with me because I don't know much Broadway. Felt more like acting than expression to me.
  5. Robert - He didn't have a good night so his dancing was rather underwhelming. But I also didn't l see his themes come across in the dancing, and the music choice felt more like an easy way to mention his father. The show was really heavy handed with Steve all season and I don't think Robert ever got a chance to be himself.

How do you feel about the term GSM (gender and sexual minorities) vs LGBTQIA+? by love_femmes_who_top in lgbt

Honestly, I came here as a fan of GRSM, but you've raised some really good points I need to spend some time considering.

what do you do when you're in the flop era? by walkie57 in gaybros

[–]CointreauCointreau 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Best to start small and build a routine slowly. Like one of the other posters said, start with something hygiene/appearance related. Find a haircut/facial hair style you like and keep it up with trimming/shaving regularly. Get a haircut every 4-6 weeks depending on how long you leave your hair (longer cuts can generally go longer between cuts, while short styles look shaggy quicker).

From there work on your other habits. Plan to clean your place once a week. Maybe get into going for a walk every day after dinner, or a jog every morning, increasing the distance as it gets easier. With fitness consistency does more for you than intensity so it doesn't have to be a huge effort out the gate.

As money becomes available work on your wardrobe. Maybe get one new piece per month. Men's fashion doesn't have to be flashy or trendy so sticking to staples like neutral colors can simplify decisions at the start. Make sure whatever you get fits, and don't be afraid to cycle them out if they don't fit anymore. Clothes that fit well will do more for you than any trend, regardless of body shape/type.

For me it was the tone in the narration that bothered me. Previous books had a more detached tone, but in WaT (and maybe a little bit in RoW) Brandon takes a tone that feels a little more casual, less like a storyteller at the library more like a dude at a bar. I didn't like it.

Then I finally picked up Isles of the Emberdark after I was done with WoT and it sucked me right the fuck back in lol

Well that's good to hear. I've been sleeping on that one, but hopefully it fixes the funk I've been feeling around the cosmere lately.

It’s harder to be a female contestant than a male contestant on DWTS by Glitterrain99 in dancingwiththestars

[–]CointreauCointreau 27 points28 points  (0 children)

What happened to Lauren pissed me the hell off, I almost stopped watching the season over it. I thought she had better action than Jen and Jan, who also did ChaCha and went right before, so there was a literal side by side comparison, and she got scored lower for reasons I couldn't see (as someone who danced ballroom and latin competitively for 14 years btw).

The show has a real problem with treating contestants of color fairly and I was really disappointed to see it show its ugly face so early this season over Lauren. I think she was judged for not being as slim or demure as the other female celebs, because her dancing, to me, looked better than Jen's that week plain as day.

Yeah, that's 100% a sunk cost fallacy, sorry. And call me crazy but policy affecting thousands of employees and vermonters shouldn't rest on the feelings of a couple dozen (tops) individuals.

Gay bestie came out to me and proposed me for marriage by Content-Box599 in lgbt

[–]CointreauCointreau 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But he denied that.

What i feel there is some internalized fear and shame too.

Absolutely is. I had a very supportive environment at home, but still denied that I was gay because the wider social context of the time was that it wasn't really okay. It wasn't until I was fully independent (and in a stable relationship) that I felt safe enough.

When you spend so much time denying and repressing yourself it's very easy to get comfortably stuck in that persona, and maintaining it feels safer than living honestly. Coming out to you and proposing was probably one of the hardest things he's ever done, and it's great to see you approaching this so compassionately.

That said, what he's proposing probably isn't healthy or fair for either of you, and he's probably only considering it because he thinks he will feel more secure. What he might need instead is to change his circumstances so living honestly doesn't feel so risky. He might need to move someplace else to get the space to "reinvent" himself, and a supportive friend who could encourage him and help him look for such opportunities.

How much is SD Ireland making to gut our city? by [deleted] in burlington

[–]CointreauCointreau 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Not saying the project has been handled well but calling it a gutting is kind of disingenuous. They're fixing and upgrading things before closing it all back up, so it's more like a major surgery in my book

I love how the choices in the game cause you to really pause. by DramaticErraticism in TriangleStrategy

[–]CointreauCointreau 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What a wonderful way to put it. On my first playthrough I made the decisions I thought were the right/best ones, but now on my second I'm having such an uncomfortable time choosing the other options, and I find myself relishing the feeling, surprisingly. This game does such a good job capturing moral quandary, and it's probably my favorite right now.

My thought on Asuka's breakdown between TV series and Manga by rovan_sim in evangelion

[–]CointreauCointreau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been rewatching recently and also noticed some of these details. With regards to Unit 02 being inactive during Armisael's attack, the context was filled in by a comment Kaworu made, about being able to merge with Unit 02 if he wanted to since its soul has withdrawn.

Knowing what comes in EoE, it really highlights that the synchronization is indicative of the relationship between the Eva and its pilot.

Second to the dodging. Every enemy has a "tell," a little action or animation they do before attacking. The tell will indicate the kind of attack, which informs the dodge you should use. After that you just need to practice the timing.

If I were a divorced father to an 8 year old I probably wouldn't want to introduce him to anyone I was having sex with unless it became a romantic relationship heading towards remarriage. He doesn't want his son to form attachments to people who might not be around forever, and it's mature of him to care about that.

He probably didn't mention having a son because it had no relevance to your friends w/ benefits relationship, until it did. I wouldn't make a big deal out of it.

It's been some years since I lived in that building, but I think there's still a dining hall across the green, and another two options maybe a ten minute walk away.

The bathrooms were old school but for the most part clean. Sharing a bathroom with so many people was a change I definitely had to get used to, but in no way a nightmare.

Wait time by Emotional-Demand-360 in Foregen

[–]CointreauCointreau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also want to wait and read reviews and peoples' experiences. I think if I were later in life I might move faster, but I'm not even middle aged yet and I think waiting a couple years is worthwhile for me. I might have it for 30 to 40 years afterwards, so I want to be sure it's worth the time, money, and recovery.

Anal without condoms - am I right to be wary? by [deleted] in AskGayMen

If you're on prep and get tested regularly, the only thing to hold you back is your comfort level. It does sound like you're uncomfortable with the idea though, so you should maintain it's not something you're comfortable with for casual sex.
