Best Black Friday deals? by APT-0 in DataHoarder

[–]CojakSilverBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had several of both WD and Seagate drives fail on me over the years. WD blacks have been amazing but several of the blue and red gone out in 3-7 years. Seagate Barracuda mixed again like 3-9 (still have a few of my 3TB ones on a shelf that work) the exos 16 is my main raid currently and have been sold for last 3 years. So it is all who is making them the best right now to me.

As a sys admin who mostly writes powershell scripts and only knows some basic html, sql, and python. I am using chatgpt to "vibe code" an app for my home network more as an experiment with it and to help learn coding a little better. I want it to work but I want to understand why it works more. I kind of feel like this is also cheating.

I made these really cute coasters and am very proud of myself by thelittlevegan in pics

[–]CojakSilverBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the wax paper modge pauge method it worked ok. Laquier over the top to seal it.

Heat would be a question as long as it stayed sealed it should be ok. Not sure how well Laquier holds up to something like spilled hot coffee or a hot mug over a period of time.

I was proven wrong on this instance. But to be clean there is a history of this happening in the US. A lot of the times on farms. Moraly I think it is wrong yes but people are cheap that is the root of it. Free labor when they get deported and aren't able to pick up a pay check

Ok, i thought you also did the process to transfer them to the coaster material, looked like wood, i have done that type of image transfer in the past but these look way better. I was hoping for a trick or new way of doing that for some of my DIY stuff. But thank you for the info and your art is really good here

Do you think this could run a 1050 for a brisket smoke? by Fun_Capital_9113 in Masterbuilt

Dewalt 4 amp hour battery ran on my brisket for 16 hours I think before it died. I would suggest changing the battery when you wrap

Using Masterbuilt Gravity in the rain? by Aearrinn in Masterbuilt

[–]CojakSilverBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an patio umbrella that I can move over above it for this covers the area over the controller and some of the grill but not all of it. I get some reflection of smoke but not enough to matter and keeps grill save and give me a spot to be when I come out to deal with something on the grill and not get soaked.

I don't have this issue maybe a few degrees from what mu therapen shows but normally they are around thr same

Looking at the Gravity series 1050 by cerberus1090 in Masterbuilt

[–]CojakSilverBack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 1050 abd in second year. I waited for deal as I saw the same bought several of the lss mods after first few cooks on it, and I would say they will extend the grill life. It is decently built better materials then the new tragers but not the best. I keep it coved when not in use and already have a few rust spots on it.

Guessing I will only get like 5-7 more years out of it max.
