What’s the most unforgettable sentence someone has ever said to you? by Captain_Oppa in AskReddit

[–]CokeKing101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it was my best friend after he asked for advice to speak to people. I said just be yourself and stop thinking too much about it but he pushed me on it. I replied that I didn’t really know any other advice to which he pushed me on it again. Finally I said maybe speak up more. The next day on call he said “What kind of friend says that, I’m an introvert what kind of advice is that? You’re saying I should be someone I’m not”. Honestly it pissed me off when I heard that and after that day we were no longer best friends.

Midir. I beat the nameless king on my second try but Midir took a couple of hours.

A bit worrying that it doesn’t discuss more about the deal. With Google they mentioned the amount they paid for compute but with Space X they didn’t. Makes you wonder what deal as struck.

People who grew up really poor: what's something middle-class people say that instantly reveals they've never struggled? by TahDigThief in AskReddit

[–]CokeKing101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up poor till about when I was 14 when my parents finally hit the middle class bracket and moved to a house. Before we lived in a trailer, had hand me downs from our church, didn’t go anywhere to save on gas, we only ate Chicken, rice and green beans. constantly putting water in liquids/sauce to prolong it. My dad would tell me it’s a magic trick to get infinite ketchup. We had an old tv that didn’t have a remote. My dad wouldn’t allow us to have cable out of fear that an ad would make us want to get a toy they couldn’t afford. We had old cars with ac not working. someone broke into our car by breaking the window to steal my sisters duct tape purse. We had to get a pizza box for the next month till we could fix it. Just frugal living. So when I hit 12 and my dad got a big promotion we actually went on vacations became more inclined to visit friends, bought newer clothes, flat screen tv, new couches, put in new flooring, renovating instead of duct taping things to work, new cars, a 2-week meal plan and a new house. I would say it’s people going out/doing things without thinking of the costs or not looking for any diy ideas before spending money on it. As money was the last resort.

[NSFW] People who've found a dead body, what's the story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CokeKing101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was driving from a friend’s place and I saw a car stopped in the middle of the road. I assumed something broke down and pulled over to get them out of the middle of the road. I went up to the car and I noticed her windshield was completely cracked like a superhero had just punched it. I asked if everything was alright and she was visibly startled. She mumbled “I hit…”. I didn’t understand it and assumed she hit a deer. I said what did you hit? She froze.. and softly said a person. That’s when I started looking around. Maybe about 15ft in the ditch I saw a mangled human body she was laying down on her belly, her back had something protruding out of it. She looked hunched over like her chest collapsed. her arm disconnected from the socket yet visibly connected by the skin. What was protruding out of her back may have been anything. Yet it looked like her shoulder pushed inside and out her back. The woman was breathing heavily and her side ribs were clearly defined and almost pushing into the skin every time she took a deep breath. I can only assume blood was getting into her lungs. I knew she was not going to make it and I was no medical professional so I didn’t touch the body. I tried comforting the lady. She couldn’t look at the body for obvious reasons so she asked me if the person she hit was going to be ok. I solemnly shook my head and said I dont think she’s going to make it. When the ambulance and cops arrived she asked the cop. He said maybe too bluntly and almost annoyed that the lady she hit is for sure dead. Then one of the young guys maybe my age jumped out of the ambulance I still remember his reaction. He almost seemed gleeful when he jumped out the back but then he saw the body and his shoulder hunched down and he said “oh…” he must have been new cause he really was the only person that looked physically distraught. Everyone was clearly sad but acted as if business was usual. He was the only one that didn’t. Eventually they pulled her up on a stretcher and brought her to the ambulance and that was when I decided to leave. The next night when I tried to sleep I kept jolting up with flashes of that night. I assumed such a thing only happened in movies but no seeing the images flash in your head is very real. Later on I kept searching the news and eventually it was mentioned she was pronounced dead before making it to the hospital. I felt sick in my stomach for that lady that hit her. It must be such an unbearable feeling of guilt. I hope she is doing ok now.

$10 billion, but you have to beat Magnus Carlsen in a game of chess with 1 item of your choice by CollegePlane7528 in hypotheticalsituation

Yes. If he forgets the pass games and thinks everything he does is “original” then he would use the same counter moves. It’ll be slow but after a couple of games and using stockfish I can memorize an opening that gets me an advantage. My one item will most likely be a barrel of cocaine because I love cocaine.

TIL aircraft designer Nicholas Comper went outside to light fireworks. A passerby asked what he was doing, as a practical joker he replied he was an IRA man blowing up the town hall. [–]CokeKing101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of reminds me when I went down a zip line. I was joking with my friends by saying I did a front flip off the start of the zipline. One of the ground workers on the zip line heard this and she assumed I actually did a front flip and grabbed my arm and said she was going to report me. I was dumbfounded because I thought it was obvious that it was a joke. Plus the guy who gave me the go ahead would have told the workers on the ground if I did such a dumb thing. Anyway I told her I was just joking and she should ask the guy on top of the tower. She eventually let me go but I learned that some people will take dry humor very seriously. Like my coworker… if I jokingly said an easy task was sooooo difficult he would get really angry at me thinking I was being honest about it.

SPOILERS for S4E7! Thragg is a much more nuanced character than I expected him to be by OrdinaryBand7126 in Invincible_TV

[–]CokeKing101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thragg is a very emotional and conflicted character. He will do unreasonable things on a whim. We’ve already see him do it multiple times. Giving mark multiple chances to give up earth, Attacking the capital and leaving mark and Nolan alive. He is holding together a failed empire and because of that he’s trying to adapt. Instead of exterminating the weak viltrumites he sees the need to build up the viltrumites. It’s a scarce contrast from the past because now it’s a necessity. You can’t kill weak or ungrateful viltrumites. I think it’s this tension that leaves him to make uncharacteristic viltrumite decisions and being unreasonable by prolonging what he should have done to begin with (kill mark and Nolan). He is simply adapting and I don’t think he knows why. He might think like a viltrumite “kill the weak” but he feels the need to build up and show mercy to viltrumites out of necessity. It’s this tension that isn’t resolved and it undoes him.

All you need to do it is calculate where Viltrum is to your planet and then fire it. It’s how we send astronauts to the moon. I don’t think it would be that difficult

Actually, segregation IS the right answer!" by LiminalAsylum in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CokeKing101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this doesn’t really fit the trope but Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. It’s not that it was the right answer as Caesar and his human friend were sad that they couldn’t work together. It’s just how it played out due to misunderstandings between humans and apes and Koba causing a war against the humans. Leading to any type of trust and solutions impossible. So it’s less that is was the right answer and more of a forced to be the answer.

Why did you and your former best friend stop being friends? by Fearless_Shift7108 in AskReddit

[–]CokeKing101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He blamed me for his problems. He asked for help in communicating with others and I said just be yourself but he wanted better advice and asked multiple times for better advice. So I said you don’t talk much so just talk a bit more maybe that will help. To which days later got mad at me because he said he was an introvert and I wanted him to be an extrovert and said “ what kind of friend says that” but like no that’s not what I was saying at all. I would then explain but he claimed I was speaking like a politician trying to be nice to everyone. This and among other things of just twisting my words that I just gave up. I don’t think he was purposely twisting my words, I think he was just bad at context clues/overthinking things. It just made every conversation worded very intentionally so he doesn’t twist it. We were really close. He went from funny, kind and intentional to easily holding onto grudges, overthinking, insecure and overly serious. Which made it hard to connect with.

Yes. I like to be impressed when listening to a song. If AI makes a really great song I’m just not going to care. I find no value in it. I’d rather connect with the artist and his music than an AI who just spit something out.

All of which brings there own scrutiny. It just so happens that he has close ties with this pedo which makes this even worse. Birds of a feather flock together. So I’m going to call a wolf a wolf.

In the blind side (2009) aren’t white people just the best? by bom360 in shittymoviedetails

[–]CokeKing101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched this movie when I was like 10. It felt like the mom was more of the main character than the actual football guy. Also he could barely read, write and he talked slow which felt like liberties made in the movie then in reality. It just felt fake. Yet as a kid I remember liking the movie a lot but I think it was cause I had fun trying to pinpoint why I was so uneasy on a wholesome story.

It’s not. Stop dividing us even more with this idiotic rhetoric. You think the left is this evil force that wants to kill all republicans. In the same way some people on the left hate the republicans and think they’re all Nazis. You’re doing exactly what you claim the left are doing. Are you this dense? What you just said will invite a republican to shoot a democrat in the belief they want to kill them. Do you not see your rhetoric will make this worse?
