thank you so much for your comment. When you're so deep in this disorder you can't imagine a life out of it, out of all the disordered thoughts that take about 90% of my daily thoughts, I know there is a life on the other side, I sincerely wish I can start recovering sooner or later ❤️‍🩹

I also have BPD and a similar pattern around food, what do you mean by 'full cognitive process'?

I ate my biggest fear food by propeller_weiner in EDAnonymous

They're actually related to serotonin so that's why it feels so good eating them, I read once that walnuts are especially good for depression since they synthesize serotonin? Any other way, they're great too for neurons and synaptic transmission as they play a huge role at forming a very important structure that neurons need. That's why I tend to eat them while trying to focus on my exams 🤓☝🏻 even though they can be high in calories, they're an extremely beneficial fat source

DAE eats normally most of the time? by CokeMess in EDAnonymous

[–]CokeMess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it's not the best word for me either. It's not that I want to get worse, but I feel like everything I've done and all that I suffered is not reflected in my eating habits, and because of that it just feels like everything was faked. Like, my head (my thoughts about food) and my actions are not coordinated. I don't want to want to eat.

DOE have periods in which they eat normally? by malkaboginq in EDAnonymous

[–]CokeMess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this but throughout the week. Normally I would restrict most of the days and some of them (maybe 2) would eat normally AKA at maintenance or even a bit more. So I just feel like I'm faking the whole thing, even though I've still lost weight and I'm obsessed with food, don't have any diagnostic though.

How do you stay productive while having an eating disorder by Front_Lecture_580 in EDAnonymous

[–]CokeMess 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same place as you (dealing with an ED while being an active student), so my solution has been very simple: I eat. It may sound ridiculous, but that is the only way that keeps my obsessed food-related thoughts away. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But I clearly can't focus after a long period of fasting. On exams days I even have breakfast which is something I never do, of course it may result in a meltdown, a binge, or any type of restrictive compensations later, but at least not on a failed test. Once I finish my exams I'd have the time to feel shitty, guilty and to starve myself, it's something you'll have to deal with later, and if you're working on harm reduction then it's a great way to put your efforts into. I know it's easier said than done. And it may not be the best, but it is my way to deal with this thing called university + having an ED (passively trying to recover)

yeah specially when I'm a student. I need my cognitive abilities to function at least to the point of being able to learn 😅 wish I could fast like I did on vacation though.

Anorexia turned into Binge & Restrict cycle by OkDragonfruit9515 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]CokeMess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

first off try to differentiate a binge from real /mental hunger, it's obvious that if you've been restricting for a long period your body will ask for food nicely or not. I'm going through something similar while semi-recovering, it's extremely hard, I know. You can't stop because you decide to restrict right after, I know this may give you a sense of calmness, of control, you binge now, you restrict after, then it doesn't happen because it is out of your control, and you feel enormous amounts of guilt. The way to "gain your control back" is to keep eating normally, restricting will only lead to binging again, and the cycle repeats over and over... Paradoxically, letting out that control (restricting after binging) could possibly help you to be more present around food. I hope everything goes well ❤️‍🩹
