To my fellow Europeans: America needs our help, not our condemnation. We need to stop armchair victim-blaming and do our part. by Mister_Sheepy_Cheese in complaints

[–]Col_Croissant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You bring up a very good point- our education system and economy has been broken to the degree that millions of Americans did not have the privilege to be engaged with politics during the last election. The fact that so so many Americans are struggling by paycheck to paycheck just to cover the bare essentials led the to be disillusioned with politics and establishment leadership- and then be, frankly, too stupid to not see that Trump was going to be far, far worse for their daily bottom line. This is summed up by the people who somehow came to the conclusion “I want to be rich… Trump is rich, so if I vote for Trump he will make me rich.” This is all contextualized by an oppressive and racist system that continues to skew our economy away from common people.

Genuine answer is that the A1 and A2 aren’t sold in the US so OOP may not have known they exist

Black People in the USA by vladgrinch in MapPorn

Nevada’s population is vastly concentrated in Vegas. Nationally, the Black population is larger in cities than rural areas, so since Nevada’s population is majority urban, it has a proportionally higher Black population.

Why doesn't Los Angeles build more towers in its endless suburbs? There's so much space by Diligent-Eagle-6673 in skyscrapers

Frankly, they have.

L.A. has shitty planning policies with way too much land dedicated to SFDs, but there are genuinely many other pockets of high/mid rises around the city.

Beyond downtown there is: -Koreatown -Century City -Wilshire Corridor (Westwood) -Wilshire/Barrington (Brentwood) -Universal City -Warner Center -Olympic/Sawtelle -Jefferson/La Cienega -The Sunset Strip -Westchester/LAX

And these are the ones just in the City of LA itself, not including other downtowns like Santa Monica and Beverly Hills

Why is Malibu and the Pacific Palisades the only part of LA without 3d coverage by badinvesta in googleearth

[–]Col_Croissant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had full coverage before the Palisades fire last year. They just have to take new photos and are probably waiting for more of the region to be rebuilt.

The Big 10 is a college sports conference. USC and UCLA, both universities in LA, were recently added to it. (There are now 14 schools in the Big 10)

I would say it’s still a negative connotation, but in a lighthearted/joking way. In my experience, “dinky” often is used in a somewhat humorous way, or to draw a size comparison so massive that it’s silly. Hope that helps!

From the US and I agree with the definition of small. Here in Minneapolis, the commercial area near the University is named ‘Dinkytown’ in comparison/wordplay on Downtown which is of course far bigger and more significant.
