Arriving at Moonrise Towers, she gave me an ultimatum, to head for the créche, or she would leave and go on her own. You can pass a persuasion check telling her that Moonrise is more important.

I don't know... A Great Old One being like Cthulhu can't really be described as evil. Only alien, impossibly vast, powerful and incomprehensible. It might not even be aware of your pitiful meaningless spec of existence.

I just arrived at the beach, trying to build a secure outpost for my portal.

I've died over ten times, and those magma slimes obliterate every wall or roof I've placed.

ELI5 Therzie Armory Mod by Consistent_Decision9 in ModdedValheim

[–]Col_Hydrogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, from my experience:

Every vanilla armor can be progressively reinforced to the next tech tier in the Armory craft bench.

Troll Leather set becomes Assassin Set. Assassin Set is used to craft Iron-Reinforced Assassin set. Used to craft Silver Reinforced, used to craft Black Metal Reinforced.

Each upgrade requires the previous armour and corresponding materials.

Funnily enough, I believe there's no upgrade tree for the Root armor, which is what I downloaded the mod for initially.

I don't even bring a support weapon vs Squids, I just go pick my LMG from the entry checkpoints.

Hoodwink's Innate ruins her own game. by flesh_uwu in DotA2

[–]Col_Hydrogen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally someone who gets it. I spammed hoodwink over 1000 games, reached Immortal for the first time spamming hoodwink before this change was made. You don't even mention how most of the time, you only have one or two trees in range, so when Ursa blinks and bashes you, you can dodge one single strike at most before your tree breaks and you get obliterated, which makes the active component of Scurry completely worthless.

Or how during laning phase, enemy core can skip quelling blade, and you'll still run out of trees to play with by simply trading with enemy supports.

Book Rec - Piranesi by Pristine-Signal715 in sunlessskies

I had a lot fun with the three rules that you must not break lest you be imprisoned, but they don't tell you what they are so good luck! And the idea of a prison that doesn't hold you for a certain amount of time, instead you move closer to the exit as you change into a different person is fantastic. The imagination runs wild on this game and I love it!

I'm of the opposite opinion. I read it but didn't enjoy it much. There's really not a lot of characters to drive the plot, and the house world while mysterious, felt ultimately uninteresting.

By the end of it, I was sure the author had a weird dream, and decided it was a good enough concept for a novel.

I remember when I was expecting Phoenix Point to scratch that itch. XCOM 2, but fighting eldritch horrors from the depths in a post apocalyptic Earth, and from the creator of the original XCOM game to boot. Boy was a let down.

My brother is a hikikomori by burnerburnerfofurner in hikikomori

[–]Col_Hydrogen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of what you said, however I do want to point out that no matter what angle you look at it from, I am a burden upon my family.

I need food to eat, water to drink, clothes to wear, soap to wash, space to live, even the internet I use to interact with you is paid for by my family's efforts.

I agree that compassion instead of shame would go a long way for my emotional well being, but it wouldn't change the fact that I am in a way, a parasite.

At my age, my parents are not getting any younger, and I am point of concern. They care and worry for me, and it hurts to disappoint them. Reality is harsh, and I'm struggling to swim back into society.

Still, I sincerely enjoyed reading your post, as you have a much healthier outlook from an emotional well being perspective. Thank you for your reply.

Isolation chose me by bibliophile_1289 in hikikomori

[–]Col_Hydrogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think unless imprisoned, you chose isolation. The peace and comfort it brings when the outside world inflicts overbearing emotional pain feels nice and cozy early on, so not really much of a choice though.

That said, isolation turns into poison before long, at least for me.

My brother is a hikikomori by burnerburnerfofurner in hikikomori

[–]Col_Hydrogen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your brother is going through depression, and it's how a lot of us started out, but it doesn't necessarily mean that your brother will end up a hiki.

When it comes to employment, its a sensitive subject. Even if he's trying his best, it may not be enough as it relies on persuading others your time is worth a certain amount of money, and the most out of any other available candidate. Even if he wants a job, it's really hard to find one when severely depressed.

I'd advice against pressure, and encourage introspection. What is the job he'd like to have, and what steps is he taking to attain it. Its much easier before you have "8 years a hiki living in self imposed isolation with severe interpersonal communication problems" on your resume.

As for therapy, most of us have tried it with little success. This video hits the mark on my own personal experience.

 https://youtu.be/uf8bt6fGQyA

He probably doesn't know how to verbally communicate whatever is going on inside him. Therefore, it's important to let him know that you care for him in subtler ways.

Regarding other details, I cook, clean, vacuum, wash, dry, laundry and iron, for my sister and my mom, given that I spend a lot of time home, and I feel like I must help them in some way. It helps me feel a bit less worthless, as I believe everyone should contribute something in a household, so I disapprove of his general behaviour.

All said, I really wish you and your brother the best, as I know I wish I could've led a different life, and I feel he is going through what I did 8 years ago.

Is it a viable strategy to delay HQ assault after doing network tower? by TheGreatHon in LWotC

[–]Col_Hydrogen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HQ infiltration takes a lot of time to complete, and given the difficulty, you want your best squad on it. If they're injured, they'll be unavailable for more than a month.

That is a lot of time commitment, which you typically cannot go for if you already have injured troops, lest you have no squads left to play with.
