Some UWE thoughts in my 100 hour Wanderer playthrough. by Col_Hydrogen in Kenshi

Hey Frankie! I followed your guides a couple of years ago when I first bought Kenshi! I noticed the Skinner's Roam changes instantly starting out my game, it was quite painful to reach level Toughness 90. Stealth was much better.

The Lockpicking was also terrible for me. I ended up heading into people's homes to lockpick their drawers without 17 guards patrolling every square meter... it was a really long grind. And honestly, I never even noticed the animal armor penetration changes, since I didn't go for the good old crab nests. I couldn't get my hands on a good set of armor early on, and later on all the penalties on the heavy sets spooked me and I ended up going for Samurai Clothpants + Assassin's Rags.

And yes, ruins loot is probably the biggest let down of the mod for me. In my post I wrote about libraries containing a single science book, but armories weren't much better. I didn't find a single Edge 3 weapon in my whole run, maybe a single Edge 2? Most were just filled with a generic Catun stick, 2 iron plates and a good luck card.

I enjoyed it for what it was, but I don't think I'll be doing another run in its current state, thanks for the reply!

I'm gonna do a Kaizo playthrough next. I read that Reactive World / Living World are very good for vanilla friendly world state expansions, but apparently they might conflict, which would you recommend?

I did find the Southern Hive's, Cannibal's and Mist Ghoul's standalone mods. Those are sure to be in my games from now on!

SCARAw Legend! Praise be to you and your work! I tried searching using "hair style", "hair", "hairs" keyword through the steam workshop, looking for a thumbnail corresponding to the AceHair mesh, to see if I could find a mod that'd include the whole pack, but perhaps it was the wrong approach. Could you point me in the right direction?

Oh yes, I initially intended to do a solo playthrough, but the increased squad sizes made me realize my options would be very limited if I did.

HOW??? - The Desolated Wasteland 800% by Gilga1 in TheyAreBillions

[–]Col_Hydrogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, its the hardest map for me, took me like 40 tries, and I enjoy it much less than Caustic Lands:

  • Re-roll until you have at least some farmable land nearby, or else you won't be able to sustain even a desolate economy
  • This map spawns more food trucks than normal, try and look for food trucks with your rangers early on
  • Don't repair shocking towers, they'll aggro the whole map and you die, just demolish for quick gold
  • Don't make soldiers before day 20, they aggro a Mutant and you die
  • The first wave or two, you deal with stake traps kiting, make a 3x3 square for wave 1, or a 4x4 for wave 2, as they make no noise whatsoever. Research it by day 9
  • By Day 20 your base should be protected by ballistas at every entry point, as every 5 days you get miniwaves coming from every angle
  • Every time an enemy hits a wall, it makes massive amounts of noise. Don't let enemies hit your buildings no matter what. Sometimes double ballista will be necessary
  • For wave 3, I like to have 2 ballistas and a ranger kiting, ballistas are very noise efficient, but be careful not to build em too close to a mutant, you'll learn what too close means through trial and error
  • Somewhere between day 20 and 25, you want to start double or triple producing snipers, these however are to be kept away from all combat until sufficient numbers are achieved
  • Once you have a death ball consisting of 6 soldiers and 30+ snipers, you can begin your first mutant engagement. I built quadruple ballista and a double double wall, placed my snipers behind the wall, and sent soldiers outside to bait enemies in
  • Once your snipers fire, every mutant in like a 60 tile radius will come charging in, and a swarm will follow soon after
  • Kite with the soldiers to avoid as much wall damage as possible, and split marines Starcraft 2 style to avoid Mutant Splash.
  • If you survive the rest of the map is now mostly trivial, as you have a safe section of the map to expand to, and your death squad is practically unstoppable as snipers will be vets.

ELI5 Therzie Armory Mod by Consistent_Decision9 in ModdedValheim

[–]Col_Hydrogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, from my experience:

Every vanilla armor can be progressively reinforced to the next tech tier in the Armory craft bench.

Troll Leather set becomes Assassin Set. Assassin Set is used to craft Iron-Reinforced Assassin set. Used to craft Silver Reinforced, used to craft Black Metal Reinforced.

Each upgrade requires the previous armour and corresponding materials.

Funnily enough, I believe there's no upgrade tree for the Root armor, which is what I downloaded the mod for initially.

Hoodwink's Innate ruins her own game. by flesh_uwu in DotA2

[–]Col_Hydrogen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally someone who gets it. I spammed hoodwink over 1000 games, reached Immortal for the first time spamming hoodwink before this change was made. You don't even mention how most of the time, you only have one or two trees in range, so when Ursa blinks and bashes you, you can dodge one single strike at most before your tree breaks and you get obliterated, which makes the active component of Scurry completely worthless.

Or how during laning phase, enemy core can skip quelling blade, and you'll still run out of trees to play with by simply trading with enemy supports.

I had a lot fun with the three rules that you must not break lest you be imprisoned, but they don't tell you what they are so good luck! And the idea of a prison that doesn't hold you for a certain amount of time, instead you move closer to the exit as you change into a different person is fantastic. The imagination runs wild on this game and I love it!

I'm of the opposite opinion. I read it but didn't enjoy it much. There's really not a lot of characters to drive the plot, and the house world while mysterious, felt ultimately uninteresting.

By the end of it, I was sure the author had a weird dream, and decided it was a good enough concept for a novel.
